  1. Hi guys, Quick questions will I have any issues if I was to purchase a mixer from overseas? Or is it as simple as changing over the power lead? Thanks
  2. It sure does. I just want to be able to deal with the one shop for everything. It just emliminates issues down the track thats all
  3. cheers thanks mate. I was just speaking to a mate he recommend factory sound in the city. How do they compare to store Dj?
  4. HI guys, Can anyone recommend a few places in Melbourne who know what they are talking about and have resonable pricing in regards to purchasing equipment Thanks
  5. no stress guys. I will have a listen to what you guys have mentioned above and see how I go. Just so you know the room that the audio gear is going into is around 20squares (size of a average house) Hence why I wanted something big. But I know this is still going to be overkill
  6. I am not fussed about cost as the crossovers arent overly expensive. Would it be easier to control everything off the crossover compared to the mixer? I am going to upgrade my decks and mixer if not I will just get the mixer now instead of the crossover
  7. Yeah I hear what you are saying. But I just want something powerful enough to keep up in the future. I havent herd the JBL stuff so I cant comment, but I will look into them. I am not too fussed on price as I am willing to spend the $4k on it. I saw full price of the RCF was $7000 but the guy at the audio shop said he can do me a deal for $4000.
  8. Seriously, A decent mixer like the djm 800 will go great, and hooks straight up to the speakers via rca to xlr cable. (Assuming there powered) I would not recommend getting an 18 for home use, and I wouldn't recommend combining monitors with PA. Also that thing weighs 90kg, it would be ridiculous to move. PA is too boomy for the home, and a dual 18 sub would destroy it (My single 18 alone does that). Also I would recommend getting 2 speakers for stereo sound at least, especially if you want decent quality. TLDR; Get a set of krk 10's and a sub, you will have enough left over for a djm 800 and two cdj 900's. Using a dual 18 sub or anything decent really is like putting a Toyota yaris engine in a 370z. haha I love the car analogy! But I am getting a purpose built room to house everything in my new house. So I dont need to worry about the crappy sound part. Is a DJM800 campable of running all the gear mentioned above (4 speakers and subwoofer) 2 of the speakers will be powered and the other 2 are running off an amp.
  9. thanks guys very helpful info for a fool like me Thanks
  10. Thanks for the response mate. I hear what you are saying, but this stuff will mostly be used for private home use rather than parties etc, so I am not fussed about size etc. And I know what you are saying about shit sound quality by having powerful speakers in a small room (house enviroment) but I am in the process of building a new house in a acerage so I am having a special man cave built for this. So this will not be an issue. Have you heard the RCF 8006AS? How does it compare to the JBL stuff you mentioned above?
  11. Hi Guys, I am currently in the market to expand on my speaker set up. I am currently just running a crown amp with JBL JRX125's but looking at adding another set of speakers (self powered) along with a self powered subwoofer (looking at dual 18inch RCF 8006AS) and maybe one more speaker on its own (like a monitor one, I think that's what its called. So can someone tell me what type of cossover will I require to hook up all this gear? I want something that will give me good control and sound. And good quality with a reputable brand Thanks
  12. Hi guys, I am currently looking buying new speakers and just getting a little confused with all the lingo Some speakers say passive, others say active, or monitor and PA. what is the difference between them all?
  13. Hi guys, I was just after a bit of advice. Firstly I am no pro Dj or anything, so this is all just for home use. And I do love my sound so I am very particular about it. I currently own a set of american audio dj decks which I will be upgrading to poineer ones later in future so I can plug in usb etc, and I am running a set of JBL JRX 125's off a crown amplifer. Now its a very good set up for home use with very good clarity and good top end sound, however next to no low end bass. What I am wanting to buy is a set of dual 18inch subs, I had a look at the RCF 8006 AS which was absolutely awesome (can anyone recommend something similar with the same kind of power). I would also like to buy a set of self powered speakers like the Electro voice ones which allow direct ipod connectivity so I can just take them to mates places etc when doing small parties/gigs. (either a set of 12's or 15's) So I dont know too much about this stuff so can someone tell me what the best options are. I dont really want to spend past $4000 for the sub. and maybe about $1200 max on the other speakers. But I would like top quality range (no cheapy stuff) I will also require a good decent crossover to hook everything up. (again I dont know much about these so if someone can explain more, that would be great) Also where in melbourne is the best place to buy this gear from ( a few contacts would be great) And I would only like to buy reputable brands such as RCF, EV, QSC etc
