'it seems drastically overpriced.' just on that point, the local distributors recently overhauled the price point of the SCS1 units from well over 2K to about $1200 (prices will vary depending on the retailer's willingness to discount) I'd say that's a move in the right direction!

Remember, though, if you want to use it as a DVS (digital vinyl system) you will want to use a CD deck that has a jog / dial wheel on it (like a Pioneer CD-J). YES the dual decks will work BUT if they don't have jog wheels you won't have the tactile control which is the thing a DVS system is supposed to give you.
