Audion I use to have the pioneer DJM909 and the SL1, but now that ive gone to the SL3 and a 4 channel mixer I havent looked back , the TTM57sl is a great scratch mixer but with the SL3 you get a better soundcard/recording/3 inputs & 3 outputs,and with serato 2.0 you will get more features, as I said earlier the TTM57sl will be a bitch to setup at a club compared to the SL3, just looking at the price the empath & SL3 will set you slightly over what a TTM57SL would cost (storedj prices) but you will get 3 channels and a mixer thats built like a tank

hey Audion if you are going to go down the serato path (which I have and love) this would be my suggestion to you 1 x macbook pro (since you are at tafe get the student dicount) from apple australia of look at their refurb computers on the store page for extra savings, I would look at the rane Empath mixer and the serato SL3 because if you wanna play in a bar or club latter on its gonna be easier setting up an SL3 than a ttm57sl the reason I say the empath over the ttm56 is because later you could plug a 3 deck with the SL3 and you have recording as well,better sound card as well, technics are techincs lets not open that can of worms, a korg nano controller of some sort (which are cheap) to control loops and samples (and you will use these lots with hip hop), and choose headphones that are comfy not just a brand name because they will be on your head for a lot of hours (try them all out),

flat packing is one idea but people tend to stuff things up (myself included) and bits go missing you unpainted idea can be easy (I just wont paint it ) if cost is that much of a problem, I am thinking of making them as a DJ table with metal legs to keep the weight down cheers

Im thinking of making some DJ Tables/Desks, to sell to DJs so they don't have to have their gear sitting on some milk crates and a slab of wood, now that I have successfully gained unemployment I have a bit of free time on my clock, now I have made one of these before as the picture show below, now im thinking this model is very heavy and hard to ship, so im gonna make these DJ Table/Desks just like a flush fitting coffin with legs with options like laptop stands , pull out trays and custom fit outs for all different types of dj equipment, so it can tailor made to suit your needs, so the BIG question is who is interested ??!!

im working on it at the mo , there is a guy called konix who knows his shit about serato , he has great youtube vids under the name seratotutor , some updates in 2.0 include, EFX - 3 chain efx per dj deck and lots of presets being uploaded now which is nice, 3 deck mixing- if you have the SL3,(which I do just need a 3rd deck , move over you fat bastard carl cox youv'e been hogging the decks for way too long, 4 deck mixing- if you plan to buy the new rane ttm68 and if you do you are one rich mofo , scrolling for tracks- with with a much bigger font size or decent size album art if you need to see the pretty pictures, new visual layout- so you can view the decks in 4 different ways pick the one you like, not too hard to choose , smart crates- which I haven't used yet but sounds like a time saver (here comes a can of worms) , you can program the crate to only receive music that you program that crate to do , for example I only want the to have songs of 2010, February, 125 bpm , you can create this smart crate and no other music will go in this crate hope this give you an idea if not check seratotutor on the tube and all will be explained ,
