Hi Everyone, I will be picking up the DDJ-SX later this week and I have a quick question about the way the controller would handle in different temps, mainly if its safe to operate and wouldn't damage the controller. I ask because a local Ice Rink has asked me to do some work on a Friday/Saturday night when all the teeny boppers are around, will the low temps and high humidity effect the controller at all?? Once again, thank for the help Both inside and outside the rink we experience about 80-100% humidity which can get rather annoying at times, the temps also get up to 40 degrees.

Appreciate the help, I just don't want to be stuck out when things start going well So pretty much if I was to get a license from APRA, it would cover what I wanted to do, even if the venue does/doesn't have one? Also can you link me to the correct license as the website has a billion different articles.

Thanks Cupe, exactly what I was after

Hi again, I do apologize for the ongoing posts but if I am going to DJ, I want to do it the right way. I read the post about licensing and still a little confused as a lot of the comments posted by users just take the topic in different directions. I will post some scenarios and can you please tell me what kind of licensing I would need. Scenario #1... I get all my music and make my own mix of say 10 songs, I then take the mix and upload it to Youtube, I also post in the description the credit to all the artists including the name of the songs, I then use this youtube video to promote myself as a DJ... What would I need? Scenario #2... A local business that isnt exactly a nightclub but offers a place for people to hang out during the night asks me to play a set, although this place has the requirements of a decent audio system and a place for a DJ to setup, I dont think they would have the required license... What would I need? Do I need them to also hold a license? Scenario #3... I am asked to do a set at a private party on someones property... What would I need? Do the licenses only count for certain times? venues? amount of tracks played? anything like that?

Okay so I am well aware of iTunes and places that sell music, obviously this is where you would get them but what I am asking is where do you keep up with the latest tracks? where do you go to find the latest hits or the top 100 type of thing? I would like to say that the nearest radio station which caters to the more upbeat community keeps up to date with the latest tracks but they dont... I want to mix new with old and it aint hard finding old tracks, its just the new stuff people wanna hear as well. thanks for the help in advance

Alrighty, I always loved Sennheiser so I will stay with them (once I upgrade my headphones). What are your opinions on the DDJ-SZ?? overkill for a beginner? I have been rather excited about the SX but a bigger more badass controller... Although I can always upgrade from the SX to the SZ in the future I suppose, a lot more money to waste if I don't like the Pioneer/Serato stuff -
Yea USB, cheers guys also thanks for the Manual, will come in handy before I actually get one

Well guys I have opted for the Pioneer DDJ-SX, simply because StoreDJ has 12 months interest free on Pioneer stuff, so I can pay half now and a little more along the way I have been reading up a lot on the DDJ-SX and really haven't found to many cons about it, apart from the odd person saying about its size/weight which doesn't really bother me. I do appreciate everyones help and hopefully you will see me around a bit more on here once I get things rolling. I am still going to look for a decent headset and could possibly pickup a Pioneer headset at the same time and chuck it on interest free as well. Opinions?? -
Heya guys, this might be a stupid question but what port does the Pioneer DDJ-SX connect to a laptop? I only ask because I recently picked up the new Macbook Pro 15" Retina which has a lot less ports then the previous model, apples way of "streamlining" devices which just ends up in having to buy more adapters. I am picking a Pioneer DDJ-SX up next week and want to make sure I have everything I need before I get it. Thanks Guys, J2JSmall

Heya everyone, Firstly I appreciate any and all help you can offer, I had to put my dreams on hold due to life commitments but I am back to kick things off and follow what I really want to do. This is more asking for some assistance with gear. I am looking to start off digital and maybe move towards small events (parties etc) I am creating a checklist of things I will need / want within the coming months to get myself rolling. I was looking at getting the "Pioneer DDJ-SR" along with a Road Case to start things off... Opinions?? (I picked the DDJ-SR because its around my price range to start off and I have always liked Pioneer products, having owned an entire Pioneer sound system at home and had no issues) I currently have the latest 15" Retina Macbook Pro with a 500GB SSD, so there shouldn't be any issues there but what about optional storage/USB's... What do people use/recommend? I use a pair of "Audio-Technica ATH-AD700"'s at home for my gaming setup, would these be good to use for my DJing for the time being? What would you recommend I upgrade to if necessary? Once again guys, Thanks for the help. J2JSmall

Hey Everyone, Been looking around for a pair of headphones I can use both out and about to listen to my favorite tracks but also use to DJ with. I haven't heard a single bad thing about them and countless 5 star reviews. Has anyone used them before or know anything I should know before I make a decision? Thanks

Hi Everyone, I am new here and definitely new to the DJ world. I am currently sitting on the fence so to speak about becoming a DJ and following what I want to do, I am 22 years of age and haven't really played with DJ equipment before, I have an extreme knowledge of IT and most audio Technology, I work as an IT Coordinator and have been exposed to PC's/Mac's and Technology now for 90% of my life, I feel that my passion for music and abilities with technology would be a great combo but not sure if I should or not. I live on the Gold Coast and have a fair bit of spare time, outside of my job I also run my own Event Photography Business which is doing rather well. Money to me isn't a massive issue but I wasn't looking to get the best of the best to kick things off since it would just confuse me, if there is one thing I have learnt it is too slowly wade in to new things and not just jump straight to the deep end. I have been watching hundreds of DJ's over the years and had a keen interest but never pursued it. I know it won't be an "Overnight" success and it will take a great deal of time before I am putting out my own mixes but I am keen to learn. I am unsure what exactly I should be starting with in terms of gear but have a good interest in Traktor gear, I was looking at the Traktor S2 to kick things off, open to opinions though as you guys are a lot better than me at this stuff and know your way around. I have already decided on a name J2J-Small... Fondly enough this is ironic because it’s just my name… my first name Joel, my second name John and my last name is German for Small, so this is where I get the J to J Small from, it is also ironic that my last name is German for small as I am 6"5'. So I thought this would be a great name as it sounds catchy and is ironic in its own way. What you all think? Anyways, looking for a little encouragement here and tips to starting out. Thanks, J2JSmall
