Progress: Havent tried wazza's link yet, gave up on google due to the youtube link/copyright issues it has. Tried skype instead. It looks like it is working using my NI8 without needing jacksosx, auto routing showing up on in/out 1/2 very clearly. DO any of you guys have skype accounts? If so, please PM the address. I'll sort a time to try and start a one to one session with ya. 1st thing will just be testing audio quality for distortion and checking I can hear your voice and decks too. But this looks way better than google hangouts.

I'll call you, see if we see each other. and most important of all, I want you to let me know how the sound quality of my audio is. FYI: have hooked my NS6 in to NI8 and skype thinks it is broadcasting it. I want to chk for distortion and ish.

Cheers Gremmis. I dont know what i'm supposed to get, Just looking into using skype and it says I need: "a high-speed broadband connection of 4Mbps down/512kbps up" I get this: so I reckon I should be ok innit? even though it also says slower than 50% of GB!

I used to do a bar in Leeds in the mid 90's called Normans. It was mostly RnB and Hiphop but saturday night and so pretty commercial. By a complete fluke someone booked me for their wedding via my agent and asked specifically for "the type of stuff played by the DJ in Normans in the mid 90's". So I did the gig, had a few giggles. They didnt know it was me, and didnt recognise me either. But we had some lols. So I threw this 10 min mini-mix together afterwards. Nostalgia tripping.

yes, yes we will. if it's one to one, I can make it work using google hangouts but not using the "on air" option which is the one that results in better sound quality but also auto posts to youtube (and so has copyright issues) would still need to feed mic and all audio through the dj mixer at my end and only be able to hear you thru my laptop speakers. I'm a go look at other options.

oh hang about... it has to broadcast to youtube to get the better sound quality. but broadcasting on youtube leaves it prone to all the usual copyright issues youtube vids are under. this could be why is so hard to do. I'm playing tunes in the background to test sound quality, you tube is assessing those for copyright and sending me emails and blocking me and shit. back to the drawing board. fark

nah, the NI8 control panel is all about wether the timecode is vinyl or cd. normally i would set the ni8 routing in the preferences screen of ableton or traktor or whatever. Google hangouts doesnt have that option. I checked in the macbook system preferences and have been able to route audio from ns6 master out into the mic in on the macbook, but am still listening back thru macbook internal speakers. is annoying coz both the NI8 and NS6 show up as sound devices in the google hangout GUI. just wont work and dont seem to have any options for routing. still testing but

hey wazza, have you done this b4? Google hangout is recognising the ni8 and lettign me select it as an audio device but not letting me choose the routing, i cant see any indication on the NI8 that audio is passing in or out so i dont know where my sound is coming from or going to (i know i have it wired up correctly) Is there some extra setting to allow me to choose which of the in/outs I want sound to pass thru the NI8?

bloody hell russ! I've got a NI8 sat here which I only use if running traktor. But these tests can work on NS6 and itch. If I can select seperate channels in google Hangout GUI and if the NI8 works I'll be buzzing you whales to get in. Will test between my own two macs at home 1st.

yeah ok, I was gonna try that. What is concerning me is that my macbook has only one minijack in which acts as line in and line out depending on what is plugged into it. If i plug my mixer into it I can obviously route a mic through the mixer so users can hear me. But I won't be able to route users audio back into the mixer and so I am left hearing the users through laptop speakers only. Which means I will get low quality from their audio. The tests continue... Webinar - y u no simple?

no shit mate! I'm looking for free solutions first and they are rubbish. Will move onto trialing the pricey versions later but.... Does anyone have any experience of any of these webinar platforms that can stream audio direct from a DJ mixer? so far all seem to use inbuilt microphones on the laptop and the resulting sound quality is shit. or am i gonna have to buy one of these http://www.vestax.com/v/products/detail.php?cate_id=195 or similar?
