This is what you want http://www.storedj.com.au/products/product.php?id=2675 The absolute shit imo, never used one but seen them in action, seriously all you would ever need other than a keyboard for a full live dj/production thing. Cheaper option would be the launchpad for sure though.
-
damn, thats so good, fuck I wanna use that. I dont think Ill get a gig there playing anything that I would actually want to play, candy's are a bit close minded imo. Ill just pggyback in with you On topic, second hand stantons and a second hand mixer would be pretty cheap, you should get a four channel so you can have your cdjs goin too
-
Stantons = cheap and good. Technics = better
-
Yes welcome welcome welcome
-
apparently what you wwould want ideally is a large diaphragm mic, dynamic mics are for live vocals and such (my mistake). Just get a shure sm57 (I think thats what they are called) great all purpose mic

Yeah your right, a condensor mic brings everything to the same volume, used for drum overheads when your recording, dynamic microphone is the go so people can hear the "dynamics" of your voice and such. Mad studio by the way!! What monitors are those? behringer truths??

Moguai - Nyce (Chris Gould remix) preview

Yeah the kick needs to punch through more I reckon, parralel compression, multiband and some slight sidechaining should do the trick me thinks -

Pros: - Perc is on par as usual - Diggin the funky bassline - Smooth into the first drop, like that - Pan on the mid bass is nice, and like those chord stabs too - cool guitar switch up Cons: - Not really feeling the bass that comes in at like 2:40 ish, doesn't sound quite right to me, I dunno if its sitting to far out in the mix, or its out of key (although I couldn't beleive that coming from you) but yeah doesn't fit for me - Drums need to be louder for me, nit enough punch, try some parralel compression maybe. Very funky, with some real old school sounding vibes, I think, I dunno Im not to up on the prog thing but it sounds old school to me Well done -
dumb fuck

A bit of both, I hate sampling tracks but I sample breaks and stuff and I have loads of sample packs. I like makin my own perc sounds though
-
PS. this will work in any other DAW and most drum machines, I just put it here cause I thought the ol' ableton fred needed a *bump1* I plan on putting a different little tut thang every fortnight or so, or whenever I find something cool to do, and I might put a live set up every now and then cause those are always cool to look through, for me they are anyway, feel free to contribute n stuff.

TIP FOR ADDING DEPTH TO YOUR SNARE Nice little trick I worked out today, really good for big phat reverberating rim shots and snare hits, although it could be just as effective on a normal snare. Step 1 Create a snare. Layer up, EQ, and all that jazz. Then bounce it to audio. Step 2 Create a drum rack and drag in two copies of your newly created snare. Step 3 Open up the options for one of said samples (aka. show device button) and pitch it up a couple of octaves, trigger both samples at the same time and see if it sounds good, if its out of tune or sounds whack detune or go up or down octaves until it sounds right. Step 4 This one is the clincher What you want to do is make two different reverbs (or use some presets) but make sure both of them are distinctly different in timbre, decay and all that, and put one on the plain sample and one on the pitched up sample. Create a ne clip and layer the two samples, then adjust the velocity of the two layered samples until you find the sound that suits Step 5 Experiment with the shit! Play around, see which reverb sounds better on which sample, EQ each sample after the reverb and make certain frequencies come through/piss off, add a bitcrusher.downsample on of the samples, the possibilities are endles. Get creative and shit! eg. bounce, add delay and more reverb, bounce, reverse and add more reverb, bounce, MOAR REVERB..... a bit excesive but you get the picture. Hope this gives someone something to do four a couple of minutes

Ill send you some new stuff, doubt it will be what you want to play but meh

Recording mixes and altering voices?
ChevChelios replied to troyboy's topic in Beginner DJ Tips & Tricks
for recording all you need is a usb mic and any audio editing software, like audacity. For recording mixs, soundcard is the way to go, but you can do it with an RCA to 3mm jack into you computers mic input, there is a thread explaining how to do it in the computer section I think -
