Soapbox Events team up with Pacha Sydney, presented by Heineken to host the #Defected15Tour with Kenny Dope & Sam Divine at Pacha Sydney celebrating 15 years strong in house music, Defected Records have launched the Defected 15 Club Tour to bring the best in house music to Defected fans around the globe. Kenny Dope Kenny “DOPE” Gonzalez is one of the most prolific artists of the modern music age. The four time Grammy nominated musical genius has been entertaining and astounding the masses alike with his fusions of house, hip-hop, Latin, jazz, funk & soul, reggae, alternative pop and broken beats for 20 years. Known as a living encyclopedia of beats and tagged with the nickname “DEBO” by his closest friends, Kenny is a purveyor of sonic masterpieces. Kenny was born in 1970 and grew up in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. In the eighties around the age of 11 or 12 he was absorbing up the hip-hop beats that were being played at local block and house parties. In 1985 from the age of 15 to 21 he began his musical career as a buyer for a local record shop called WNR Music Centre in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. During this time Kenny broadened his musical knowledge and found his love for “diggin” for records. To date Kenny has a collection of over 50,000 records. His use of hip hop, house and R&B influences immediately began turning heads with his first Hospital outings. The Bath based, brandy drinking producer has been responsible from some massive rave anthems over the years, which has gained him Radio One success and international recognition. Having signed to the label in the early noughties, Danny Byrd released a number of singles, such as "Do It Again" (2000), "Changes" (2001) and "Dog Hill" (2006), However, it was not until 2008 that Danny delivered his long awaited debut long player "Supersized". Having spent years honing his craft, the album was an excellent display of his skills and featured massive anthems such as "Shock Out", "From Bath With Love" and "Red Mist (feat I-Kay)". The album gained support from Radio One heavy hitters such as Annie Mac and Zane Lowe, as well as the mighty Andy C. The VIP version of "Red Mist" catapulted its way onto the daytime Radio One playlist and received over six hours of Radio One play in 2009, all to itself! Hamilton Having conquered a number of different dance music genres, this talented versatile producer turned his full attention to drum & bass in the latter half of the 2000's culminating in signing an exclusive deal with Andy C's Ram Records. His tracks "Soundboy" and "Echoes" were considered to be some of the stand out tracks featured on the Nightlife 5 compilation. Since then Hamilton has released a number of singles including the massive "Brainstorm" and the sublime piece of dance floor driven liquid that is "Deep In My Heart". He's keeping busy on the remix front too, crafting reworks for the likes of Blackout's "L.O.V.E", indie/dance hybrid Enter Shikari's "Sssnakepit", label mates Loadstar 's "Black & White” and most recently Tankia's vocal anthem "Bad 4 U", also topping the drum & bass charts with his barnstorming VIP of TC’s dance floor anthem "Tap Ho”. As a DJ he’s well renowned for his damaging three deck sets at events in the UK and around the world, mixing and blending drop after drop. 2014 sees Hamilton locked down in the studio working away on his debut album.
