Sat Dec 8 Chinese Laundry Present: NICK WARREN (UK) & HENRY SAIZ (ESP) GARDEN PARTY @ the ivy We’re delighted to welcome back two huge names in progressive house – Laundry favourites Nick Warren & Henry Saiz - to play the newly renovated ivy Courtyard, for our first Garden party of the season. Warren and Saiz are artists that need no introduction to Sydney and Chinese Laundry audiences, both artists chose Chinese Laundry to launch their respective ‘Balance’ compilations in 2011, and Nick Warren headlined an unforgettable Garden Party at Laundry on NYE 2010/11. The Garden Party series have been named Sydney’s best outdoor parties, and this will be no exception - in standard Chinese Laundry Garden party style we feature 2 massive internationals, plus local guests & Laundry residents rounding out the line-up. This is going to be a magical day of cool tunes, cool vibes and cool drinks. As always ivy will run standard Chinese Laundry priced drinks, and Laundry dress code applies. Doors run – 12 noon to 7:30pm Hope you can join for this very special outdoor event!! Full Line up Nick Warren (UK) Henry Saiz (Spain) Bella Sarris Rodskeez Raulll Links to check out Nick Warren http://soundcloud.com/djnickwarren http://www.facebook.com/nickwarrenhope?fref=ts Henry Saiz http://soundcloud.com/henry-saiz http://www.facebook.com/HenrySaizOfficial?fref=ts NICK WARREN: You can tell when Nick Warren's on the decks. The music emanating from the DJ booth is that perfect club mix of driving percussion and soaring musicality, bursting out of the speakers, soaking everyone in melody, drenching them in sound. Warren's impressive career has seen him release the very first "Back to Mine" album, a staggering eight albums for "Global Underground", and one for "Renaissance" and "Cream". He is also in control of A&R for record label Hope Recordings, as well as being a member of the highly acclaimed duo Way Out West. Starting as tour DJ with Massive Attack, moving onto a residency at super club Cream and playing at every self-respecting club on the planet, has led him to this natural position as one of the world's most respected DJs. In 2011, Nick released the highly acclaimed "Balance 018", one of the highest selling in the series, receiving high praise from fans and media alike. Plus, the incredible single "Buenos Aires" became the 100th release on his beloved label, Hope Recordings in May. 2012 looks like another great year for Nick, with various solo releases planned and he is heading into the studio with Jody Wisternoff to work on the new Way Out West album. HENRY SAIZ: Henry Saiz is the creator of a style that is a combination of his love for all things electronic with a deep passion for art. His music, as well as his work as a sound designer for film and TV has always been marked as forward thinking in approach and groundbreaking upon delivery. Henry's sound refuses to fall into a singular category, he takes in influence on many different levels and incorporates this into his live and DJ sets by forging a perfect balance of Electronica, Disco, House and Techno. Henry's first productions were released through the highly regarded Global Underground and Paradigma Musik imprints. These releases were instantly noticed by house giant John Digweed, which led to creating one of the biggest tracks of 2009, which was also named as Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune. Released on Bedrock, Henry's remix of Guy J’s “Lamur” was regarded by critics and DJ’s alike as “the track of the year”. Following the success of this remix, yet another giant label; Renaissance commissioned the release of “Artificial Paradises EP” and “Madre Noche EP” in 2009 and “The Rider EP” in 2010. His rising reputation has earned Henry the honour of being asked to produce Balance Music’s 019 compilation. Following on from the likes of Timo Maas, Joris Voorn, Will Saul and Agoria, Henrys addition to this world-renowned mix series has more than lived up to expectations and has set a new benchmark in depth and quality.
  5. This Saturday October 20 Chinese Laundry are excited to host Funk D Void and PQM, for the official launch of Balance 022 the latest offering from the outstanding Balance mix Series, mixed by Funk D Void. Lars Sandberg AKA Funk D'Void, is a DJ and producer who has been involved in the global electronic music scene since the mid-90s. He started Djing at around the tender age of 15, running two under-18 clubs himself – a perfect start to his career. With his mother being a professional pianist, Lars knew his vocation from an early age, and never had any doubt his future would lie with music. House music changed his life, the early Chicago sound specifically, and hearing the certain sounds during his childhood stirred something inside him; the 808 drum machine used on Marvin Gaye's “Sexual Healing” secured his fascination with these electronic sounds – the turning point over to the Detroit techno sound was almost a spiritual moment as it forged his unique sound that would follow over the coming years – visceral, soulful and without compromise. After a string of hits over the years (“Jack Me Off”, “Bad Coffee” “Emotional Content”) plus some killer remixes for the likes of Underworld, New Order and Kevin Saunderson, he is probably best known for the end-of-nighter 'Diabla' which bridged house and techno (and was flogged by everyone from Danny Howells to Sven Vath). And if you look carefully you’ll also spy the name ‘L. Sandberg’ in the liner notes of releases by deep house producer Francois Dubois, whose “Blood” and “I Try” were huge underground hits of 2006 and 2007 respectively. Collaborations with such luminaries as Phil Kieran and more recently Sian have produced stellar results - further galvanising his diversity in the techno arena and has led us to the somewhat overdue arrival of his own personal label, Outpost. Much in demand DJ and critically acclaimed producer, his Djing style is everything you expect a true music lover’s taste to be: he is comfortable and adept at moving any dancefloor, the proof being that he is one of the busiest Djs on the circuit today, and has been for the last 15 years. And Joining Funk D Void in the Cave will be one of our crowd favourites PQM, favoured among the likes of Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Hernan Cattaneo and Danny Tenaglia, this New York native, (just call him “Quick”) has been influencing the world’s underground music scene for over a decade. For a record to attain anthem status with DJ’s around the world is no small feat, but he accomplished just that with his independent house music interpretation, of the Led Zeppelin rock classic “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You”. It was his ageless classic “The Flying Song” (Ibiza anthem of 2001) that became one of the most licensed dance tracks of all time! In the Laundry we have a bumper line up as well headlined by the trio of Jeff Drake (The Only) , Vengenance & A-Tonez You know this is going to get rowdy !! 6. Friday 19th of October Chinese Laundry Bass Mafia bring are present one of our most eagerly anticipated guest headliners yet - DOWNLINK!! Canadian Dubstep producer Downlink has been punishing dancefloors all over the planet since 2010 with his especially heavy brand of bass. With roots in Jungle & DnB, he is no stranger to the vile side of subsonic dance music, and has set out to explore a frantic, adrenaline fuelled style, influenced by everything from heavy metal to astrophysics. Signed to the massive ‘Rottun Recordings’ imprint alongside the likes of Datsik & Excision, Downlink has also released on some of the biggest labels in the game, including Mau5trap and OWSLA. While consistently coming up with sick material time after time, he has gained DJ support from all of the biggest names in the scene. His successes on the Beatport charts have been extraordinary - managing to hold down 4 of the top 10 spots in dubstep at one time and has had multiple tracks hit #1 in both dubstep and drum n bass. Recently Downlink's skills and keen ear for sound landed him a prominent role in the production & mixing of legendary nu-metal band Korn's tenth studio album. He then went on to support the band on tour in America and Europe, playing to massive arenas, time and time again leaving crowds stunned with his energetic performance. Downlink is not one to be pigeon-holed and is constantly on a quest to evolve and refine his sound. With this in mind, one thing will always remain constant - a pure unadulterated heavy listening experience… Thos who head down to Bass Mafia this Friday can a relentless bass attack from the get go. Dubstep, drumstep, dnb, breaks, glitch hop, trap - it's all fair game. We’ll admit a pretty heavy bias towards dubstep though, while Downlink tells us he’s not a complete dubplate snob, and may even drop a couple of classics in his set as well! Set Times Laundry 10:00 - Empress Yoy 11:30 - Sam Scratch 01:00 - DOWNLINK (CAN) 02:30 - Autoclaws Cave 11:00 - Rit Locus 12:15 - Axe ft Mc D-Tech 01:30 - Vertigo 02:30 - Embi Doors Open 10pm Drink Specials between 10pm & 11pm $5 Budweisers $5 Vodka & mixer $5 Dirty Laundry shots Links to check out http://www.facebook.com/downlink http://www.twitter.com/downlinkmusic http://www.soundcloud.com/downlink http://www.youtube.com/officialdownlink A blinding mix from Downlink with some of the most cutting edge bass music https://soundcloud.com/downlink/downlin ... j-mix-free Downlink live in action Guestlists, Groups & Birthdays contact details in my signature below

  11. Friday 21st September Boss Bass brings you infectious Drum n Bass via a Virus Recordings takeover - with special guests Optiv from the UK, and BTK from Brazil, backed up by the heavy hitting Boss Bass crew you know and love – Pop the Hatch, Autoclaws, Hydraulix, Bruxism & more Over the last year the duo known as Optiv & BTK have dominated the drum & bass scene with an unrelenting output of high quality, strictly-for-the-dance-floor releases - their deep, funk-fuelled, future-tech sound in demand with dj sets worldwide. Now they’re headed to Chinese Laundry, with the express intention of smashing up the dance floor and bringing the full on party vibes that their tunes are recognised for”. Both producers have had a long history in the scene, and between them have released on an impressive list of revered labels like Renegade Hardware Subtitles Music, Virus, and many more before linking up. Optiv & BTK joined forces in their new home town of Bern in Switzerland after meeting up at various Drum & Bass events in the area. Once inside the studio, the collaborative vibe and rapid results made it clear that this would union would be a game changer and with tracks like Backlash and Kingpin on Virus Recordings, having immediate impact they continued to collaborate Unsurprisingly, demand for their product skyrocketed to the extent that labels quickly came back looking for more than just a little taste, leading to their debut album just on Virus entitled 'Dirty Tricks'. 17. Get ready for a night of Quality Drum N Bass & Dubstep at Laundry this Friday 14th September, as Bass Mafia brings you RAM Records Heavyweight Hamilton (UK) & Glovecats Hamilton might seem like a relatively new name on the block to some, but this versatile and talented producer has been writing, producing & djing electronic music for over 15 years. Having conquered several genres and worked as an international DJ for a decade and a half, the next step in Hamilton’s story was after sending some of his D&B tracks to Ram boss Andy C. Signing exclusively to Ram in 2009, ‘Soundboy’ was one of the stand out tracks featured on Andy C’s ‘Nightlife 5’ compilation, while the VIP version tore apart clubs from London to Lisbon. Last year’s ‘Brainstorm’ / ‘Echoes’ set Hamilton apart as one of the hottest producers the drum & bass scene has to offer -leading to remixes for the likes of Blackout, Hyper, Jasper Forks and Enter Shikari, and being chosen to mix the 'Ram Records Drum & Bass Annual 2011' compilation. His latest on Ram, April's "Deep in My Heart', contains an undeniably epic pair of tracks that are filled with all the hallmarks you’d expect from a producer of Hamilton’s calibre, Infused with twinkling melodies, infectious vocal samples and euphoric build ups, while the flip side, 'Rich Kids' goes straight for the Jugular. Since it's release Hamilton has been busy smashing the clubs across the world, demonstrating impressive skills behind the decks... and now it's Sydney's turn to fall in love with Hamilton, - but Romance will be the last thing on your mind when the warping bassline sucks you into another world. One thing's for sure - your body will respond to the rolling beats and your heart will direct your feet straight to the dance floor. Glovecats fresh from mixing the latest Dubstep Invasion compilation will be headlining the Cave Support from Reload, Gee Fluxz & Mark Bionic, with V&Z & Damsel pumping dubstep & electro in the cave Set Times Laundry 10:00 - Damsel 11:30 - V & Z 01:00 - Glovecats 02:30 - Victims Cave 11:00 - Mark Bionic 12:30 - Gee Fluxz 1:30 - HAMILTON ( Ram Records, UK) 03:00 - Reload Doors Open 10pm Drink Specials from 10pm til 11pm $5 Budweisers $5 Vodka & Mixers $5 Dirty Laundry shots Links to Check Out Hamilton www.facebook.com/hamiltondnb www.ramrecords/com http://soundcloud.com/hamiltondnb Glovecats http://www.facebook.com/Glovecats http://soundcloud.com/glovecats Guestlist Entry Fee - $15 before 11pm & $20 after , contact details for Guestlist, Groups & Birthdays etc as per my signature below

  19. Saturday September 8th Chinese Laundry are excited to host German deep house artist Tiefschwarz for a 3hr set in the Cave. In a world of ever recycled trends, Tiefschwarz (deep black) is that most classic of shades. Its timeless style is testament to its staying power, and with a DJ and production career spanning over 14 years, this legendary duo have proven just how apt a moniker can be. Having seen Tiefschwarz rock the Cave on a number of occasions, and with the added bonus this time of the cave being hosted by the Bad Apple crew, we can guarantee this is going to be a quality party that you won’t want to miss…. Plus to top it off, as usual we have a killer line up right across the 3 rooms of Chinese Laundry Set Times Sand bar 09:00 - Goodfella 11:00 - Devola 01:00 - Athson Laundry 10:00 - Wrecks 11:30 - King Lee 01:00 - Fear Of Dawn 02:30 - Chris Arnott Cave - Hosted By Bad Apple 10:00 - Murray Lake 11:15 - Bad Apple Crew - Whitecat , About Jack , Antoine Vice 01:00 - TIEFSCHWARZ (GER) - 3 Hour set Doors Open 9pm Drink Specials from 9pm til 11pm $5 Budweisers $5 Vodka & Mixer $5 Dirty Laundry shots Links to check out Tiefschwarz http://www.facebook.com/tiefschwarzofficial http://soundcloud.com/tiefschwarz-1 http://www.souvenir-music.com/ http://www.tiefschwarz.net/ http://www.wilde-agency.com/ Fear of Dawn http://www.facebook.com/FearOfDawn http://soundcloud.com/fearofdawn Chris Arnott http://www.facebook.com/chrisarnottmusic http://soundcloud.com/chris-arnott http://soundcloud.com/chris-arnott/chri ... cast-ep-07 Tiefschwarz Bio Born and bred in Stuttgart, brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz’s passion for techno and deep house flourished their initial experience as DJs in the early 90’s at the now legendary clubs that Ali ran in their home town, ON –U and Red Dog. This led to the formation of Tiefschwarz in 1997, from which they found rapid success with their debut single ‘Music’ (on Francois K’s Wave Music label) and album Ral 9005. By 2001, this had been licensed to the London label Classic Recordings from where they springboarded to international recognition. They decided to make the move to Berlin, at the time fast becoming the epicentre of a true electronic music renaissance, from where they pursued a hectic touring schedule and remixing the likes of Cassius, The Rapture, Missy Elliott, Kelis and their personal heroes Masters At Work. They then scored a double whammy with their all-conquering crossover hit remix of Spektrum’s ‘Kinda New’ and the single ‘Isst’ off their 2005 long-player, ‘Eat Books’. This was also the year that electrohouse dominated the charts and minimal the clubs, but Tiefschwarz have never allowed themselves to be tied down to a certain sound, staying true to their love of melody as demonstrated on their contribution to the Fabric mix series that year. A series of high profile mixes in 2006, including Depeche Mode, Madonna, Roxy Music, Booka Shade, Phonique, Plastikman, dOP, and many others saw them continue perfecting their distinctive sound. Yet this was also the year in which Ali and Basti gravitated back to Berlin to found their own label, Souvenir. Basti explains “We like the idea of seeing music as a souvenir, an impression you take from somewhere. Something intimate that you remember”. They haven’t let this slow down their impressive production workload though, with a ten year anniversary compilation and a 2010 follow up album ‘Chocolate’ made in collaboration with Santé, and featuring Cassy, Seth Troxler, Dave Aju amongst others. At a perfect time to take stock of their career, the brothers are proudly contributing the ninth installment in the Watergate mix series, and have chosen a number of tracks that simultaneously pay homage to the tracks that shaped the beginnings of their career whilst also remaining very much forward looking. After years of constant touring, however, their Souvenir label has allowed them to lay down more permanent roots back in Berlin. It’s a place to foster talent, both young and old, not only in a sense of releasing records but also as a platform to share mutual experiences within a common network, a close core of artists work together including Ruede Hagelstein, Maher Daniel, the brothers Santé and Re.You, Ali & Basti at the helm. With plenty more artists on the roster as well as a digital only subsidiary, Souvenir Plus, and a debut LP from Hagelstein on the horizon, there is promise of plenty yet to come for the Schwarz brothers’ imprint. Guestlist Entry Fee - $15 before 10:00pm & $20 after , contact details as per my signature OR just mention ' Scott's List ' via the GUESTLIST LINE on the night for GUESTLIST ENTRY Tiefschwarz @ Watergate 12.03.11 http://soundcloud.com/souvenir-music/ti ... e-12-03-11
