Over the last 12 years he has become something of a heritage act despite still being 2 decades younger than his peers currently sharing that title, this, in part, is owing to his unrivalled technical abilities in his live performance which have cemented him into the hearts of electronic music lovers the world over. James continues to push the boundaries of what can be done both in the studio and live on stage using custom made iPad’s and controllers. Opening up new ideas and possibilities is what James is all about… indeed, with so much of his music being permeated by smart movie samples and cool cut-ups, the online world is his natural home…along with a label that showcases his ethos, Born Electric. With new music and a new sound coming from starting Born Electric in 2012, James continuously delivers fresh music in a unique and energetic way. “James has an uncanny knack of making everyone in the crowd feel as though he's DJing just for them. 11. Industry Pre Sales to skip the line --> http://bit.ly/11PTxgN Guest List & Birthday Bookings --> scottyslaundry@gmail.com LNDRY – Format B (GER), Falcons (USA) & BELLA SARRIS SATURDAY 6th DECEMEBER Saturday 6th December, Soapbox Events & Chinese Laundry bring you a huge load of LNDRY this time headlined by Format B (GER) Falcons (USA) & Bella Sarris. German based duo Format:B know a thing or two when it comes to tech house! Smashing out tune after tune, bassline after bassline. With music it would seem made for the dancefloor these guys are set to go off in the cave, you don’t want to miss this one. Also on this night we have the Los Angeles Hood superstar Falcons holding it down in the Laundry. Taking inspiration from Southern hip-hop and soul music, with a distinctly LA twist, Falcons is sure to throw it down in the laundry! Still need more? If that wasn’t enough Bella Sarris will also be coming along for the party along with her distinct bass heavy house sound. Bella has been known to tear up a dance floor or two in Ibiza, so its safe to say as soon as she gets behind the decks, we are in for a huge set, make sure you’re there for this one its not one you want to miss! Full Line Up: Format: B (GER) Falcons (USA) BELLA SARRIS Marks & Oz (Cuffs) Samrai Nine Lives FT Mode Fingers DJ Just 1 Teddy Black BlackJack Biography Format:B are Franziskus and Jakob. Jakob is a Berliner, from Kreuzberg to be exact. As all good parents do, his wanted him to play an instrument. After years of successfully dodging music lessons and his parents wishes, he finally at the subtle age of 15 decided that he desperately needed a bass guitar, which then through diligent practice manoeuvred him from hardcore bands to funk and jazz bands. But suddenly, there was a small problem: he liked Techno parties much better than rock concerts. So, as one does, he began buying the odd techno maxi here and there until one day little Jakob thought to himself: Why heck, I can do that too! So off he went and bought himself an overpriced Atari St40 and a cheap synthesizer, only to realize that oops those guys from Detroit really do know what they’re doing and that it wasn’t that easy after all. Well, that is basically where Jacobs ambitiously planned out life suddenly took a screeching of the wheels turn in another direction. With support from DJ and crew’s like Diplo, Kaytranada, RL Grime, Ta-ku, DJ Craze, Salva, DJ Benzi, WeDidIt, DJ Skeet Skeet, LuckyMe, Djemba Djemba, Boiler Room and many more, Its easy to see why Falcons is on many lists of producers/ dj’s to watch in 2014. Past shows Falcons has been involved in are Coachella, SXSW, Boiler Room, Red Bull This City Belongs To Us, Shambhala Music Festival, and many more. Beyond just production and remixing, Falcons is talented as a DJ, blending similar artists in the genre, as well as paying homage to the classic hip-hop and r&b that inspired him. The live set consists of seemless mixing, and party rocking, as well as live remixing and effects work, giving the audience something to dance too, or watch. 12. Industry Pre Sales to skip the line --> http://bit.ly/1zj7Zry Guest List & Birthday Bookings --> scottyslaundry@gmail.com Friday 5th of Decemeber, Soapbox Events & Chinese Laundry are switching BASSIC up a bit, bringing you the luscious house sounds of Hot since 82 (UK) for his first ever Australian club show, along with Route 94 in the laundry. Throwing down an essential mix that is seriously worth checking out for non other than Pete Tong, Hot since 82 has been on an absolute rampage releasing hit after hit destroying every dance floor around the world, with Chinese Laundry being no exception. You do not want to miss this monster 3 hour set that’s for sure! And if that wasn’t enough to satisfy your partying needs, Route 94 will be coming along to keep you dancing with his tunes, which seem to be perfectly crafted for late night dancefloors. Since emerging to the scene a few years ago, Route 94 has quietly yet forcefully established himself as a distinctive young figure in the house music scene. And for all you bass heads out there, don’t stress, the cave will still be your mecca for everything Trap & Bass. This is definitely a night you don’t want to miss. Full Line Up: HOT SINCE 82 (UK) ROUTE 94 (UK) Matt Nugent Blackmale Heirs to the Throne Beatslingerz Gradz Biography Daley Padley, also known as Hot Since 82 is a 30-year-old British DJ and house music producer currently based in Leeds, UK. He has been releasing music under the Hot Since 82 moniker since 2012. His music has been rapidly gaining in popularity, with Mixmag Magazine describing his progression in the house scene as "meteoric.” In 2010, Padley was attending an Ibiza afterparty when the music suddenly cut out. He plugged his iPhone into the party's speakers, and incidentally, one of his works-in-progress came on. Though Padley had admittedly not made the track with the intent of releasing it, reactions at the party were roundly positive, causing him to contact his friend Danish DJ/Producer Noir, who runs the record label Noir Recordings. Noir was impressed, and released it on his label. 'Let It Ride' came out on Noir Music on 5 September 2011, hitting number three on Beatport's deep house chart. Thus, Hot Since 82 was born. Rising out of relative obscurity, Padley has recently been featured in a variety of widely popular electronic music media. After a year of releasing his music, Padley was featured on Pete Tong's authoritative Essential Mix show on BBC Radio 1 in August 2013, playing a 2-hour exclusive set. Twitter: https://twitter.com/hotsince82 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hotsince82 Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/hotsince-82 Web: http://www.hotsince82.com/ Since emerging with a clutch of much-played tracks a couple of years ago, Route 94 has quietly yet forcefully established himself as a distinctive young figure in the house music scene. His music - simmering, forceful and purpose crafted for late night dancefloors - speaks of long evenings spent locked deep into mesmerising four-to-the-floor grooves, so immersed that the surrounding world falls away. Remaining a low-key presence and allowing the music to take centre stage, Route 94's tracks - propulsive, bass-heavy and with a keen ear for subtle melody - encode within them his many influences, drawing equally from the jacking momentum of Chicago and New York house and the sub-loaded sounds of his London home. It's an approach that's seen them become regular fixtures in the sets of DJs as varied as Skream, Richy Ahmed and Seth Troxler and has seen him tipped among London station Rinse FM's artists to watch in 2014. 16. Saturday 29th November, Soapbox Events & Chinese Laundry return with another load of LNDRY with Maribou State (UK) & Pedestrian (UK). Maribou State can be found spearheading the new wave of british producers. Having realesed remix’s for the likes of Fatboy Slim, Crookers and even a sneaky bootleg of Lauryn Hill these guys are showing no sign of slowing down. These guys are an act not to be missed so make sure you come down and see why names such as Diplo, Pete Tong and Bonobo are fans. Uk based producer Pedestrian is a notorious sound wanderer and dance floor master. Ranked in K Magazines ’10 Bass Music Artists to watch out for in 2012, Pedestrian has released tune after tune on labels such as Push & Run, 2nd Drop, Brownswood and Metalheadz. You don’t want to miss this night, trust us. Full Line Up: Maribou State (UK) Pedestrian (UK) Dave Winnel Offtapia U-Khan Fingers DJ Just 1 Here’s Trouble Clueless Djs Monday Morning Biography Two years ago, Maribou State had just been signed off the back of a mix they put online. Now, they’re about to release an official remix of Fatboy Slim’s ‘Praise You’, count Bonobo, Pete Tong and Diplo as fans and have found themselves spearheading a new wave of fresh British producers. In 2011 the duo were discovered by Fat! Records and put out their debut release, the ‘Olivia’ EP. A bootleg of Lauryn Hill followed, which racked up thousands of plays on YouTube and got airtime on Radio 1, 1Xtra and XFM. Their watershed moment came when they signed to Southern Fried in 2012, first releasing a remix of Crookers’ ‘Hummus’, which hit the top of the Hype Machine chart, and then the ‘Native’ EP, which was given 10/10 by Mixmag. Next single ‘Scarlett Groove’ (featuring Saint Saviour) grabbed more radio play and a remix of Ultraista’s ‘Gold Dayzz’ got over 200,000 SoundCloud plays and #1 on Hype Machine again. This year has seen Maribou State drop ‘Mask’ on Catz ‘N Dogz’s Pets imprint as well as finishing off their new single for Southern Fried. Right now, they’re preparing for festival and headline shows and are putting together a full live set with a tour of America booked for September FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/mariboustate SOUNDCLOUD: http://soundcloud.com/mariboustate YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/mariboustate Pedestrian is a UK based electronic DJ and producer. A notorious sound wanderer, sonic sculptor and dancefloor master, Pedestrian’s intricate, crystallised production and an instinct for DJ sets that can captivate any club has seen him ranked in K Magazine’s ‘10 Bass Music Artists To Watch Out For In 2012’. And with very good reason. With universally strong releases on Push & Run, 2nd Drop, Brownswood and Metalheadz, Pedestrian (also known as Jack Sibley) flows over genre constraints with sounds that submerse the home listener and entrance the heads on any dancefloor with penetrating basslines, crystallised synths, organic audio sampling and crackling melodic harmonies. His first 12” ‘Hei Poa’ on Push & Run garnered massive critical acclaim, lauded for its high production value and a dancefloor impact only enhanced by an ethereal, hypnotic quality. Support has been coming in strong from luminaries such as Gilles Peterson, Bonobo, Commix, Ifan Dafydd, and Huw Stephens, and his remixes for Gang Colours, Emeli Sandé’ and a massive Lauryn Hill bootleg with close associates Maribou State have been creating considerable hype. In 2013, Pedestrian’s dreamy tune “Hoyle Road” claims the historic second release slot on the legendary James Zabiela’s Born Electric imprint. 21. Saturday 15th November, Soapbox Events & Chinese Laundry are excited to bring you another cycle of LNDRY with Destroy the Machines for the Sydney leg of their Rise Of The Machines Tour, as well as Dusky off the back of Harbourlife festival. After impressing us last year at the Soapbox pool party with a 4 hour set, Dusky are back to do it again in the Laundry. With superior scratching skills, 4 decks and 2 mixers, Destroy the machines really push the boundaries like no other. Made up from local legends A-Tonez & Matt Ferreira, these highly respected turntablists are turning heads and giving rise to a new wave of live and technical DJing. Full Line Up: Dusky Destroy The Machines Acaddamy Kyro Set Mo DJ SAMRAI Avon Stringer Fingers Dj Just1 Tau Tau & Truman Ethan Boyd Biography Dusky Dusky are London based musicians Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman. As comfortable writing elegant orchestral pieces or stirring piano motifs as they are jackin’ house and epic techno grooves, Dusky’s diverse sounds are united by the duo’s singular aim – to compose electronic music with depth, soul and originality. Influenced by everything from classical and jazz to avant-garde electronica, the duo's emphasis on musical depth rather than genre restrictions has seen their compositions played by DJs as diverse as Pete Tong, Vincenzo, Zane Lowe, MJ Cole, Dubfire, Sasha and Laurent Garnier. Also existing as progressive/melodic house entity Solarity, they conceived their Dusky moniker as an outlet for their more organic, wide-ranging sounds – a deeply musical expansion of their nocturnal inspirations. With the album touching on ambient, dub, electronica and their organic take on house and techno, Dusky have quickly marked themselves out as producers with a uniquely broad appeal. As dance legend Pete Tong bigs them up on BBC Radio 1 and DJs like T. Williams and DMZ's Loefah hammer their tracks on urban phenomenon Rinse FM, the future is looking bright for Dusky. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Duskymusic Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/duskymusic Twitter: https://twitter.com/Duskymusic Destroy the Machines The trickiest and hotly anticipated DJ collaboration to hit the Australian circuit is duo Destroy The Machines. And their name speaks for itself. Superior scratching skills understates their technical ability. Destroy The Machines are bass-driven dance music DJs and respected turntablists who push the equipment like no other. Using a set-up of four decks and two mixers, Destroy the Machines furiously sample and scratch their way through each set playing a wide range of tunes to create a glitchy energetic sound you must hear to believe! Music style you ask? These dynamos are defined by no genre. Each set is determined by you, the dancer. Free from predetermined arrangements or promoter’s requests, they draw on their experience and play to the BPMs. This partnership is complemented by a friendship bonded over an appreciation of heavy bass lines and encouraged by industry heavy weights. Offering over 24 years of experience between them, well-known Sydney producers A-Tonez (Anthony Azzopardi) and Matt Ferreira are now turning heads as Destroy The Machines and giving rise to a new wave of live and technical DJing. The imminent release of their self-titled EP promises the primary elements of electro combined with the up-roaring new age complextro feel. The first track Rise of the Machine with its unwavering driving bass line gives us a taste of the exciting talent created by these two masterminds. As individuals, these two have carved a reputation as unique and energetic so it is no surprise Destroy The Machines will deliver a quality performance with perfection each and every time they take to the decks.
