  1. Tes La Rok hits VOID for his second Sydney appearance on Friday November 13th. It will be almost a year to the day since Tes La Rok smashed the Phoenix Bar to a full house of punters with his bass heavy reggae influenced take on the Dubstep sound. A year has passed and Tes’ standing has grown immensely, reinforcing him as one Dubstep’s best DJ’s and producers. In support we have one of Perth’s best DJ’s, Rekab. A regular on all Perth’s Dubstep events, Rekab brings his unique jump up and dancefloor styles to Void for the first time. We welcome back Mark Pritchard who returns after a massive European tour and will be armed with the freshest of fresh dubs from all the big players. 2. Index returns on Friday November 20th with one the electronic music’s most unique and unmistakable artists, UK breakbeat pioneer Paradox. With almost 20 years involvement in the breakbeat, jungle and drum and bass scene, Dev Pandya has been there from the beginning under his many guises and collaborations but most notably as Paradox. Drawing heavily from the raw breakbeats of 70’s funk, the Paradox sound is unmistakable. With releases on every major Drum and Bass and Jungle label since his first release in 1990, Dev’s back catalogue is one to be reckoned with and up there with all the greats of UK bass music. In his first ever performance in Australia, Dev brings his infamous Live PA down under for this momentous night at the Civic Underground. The influences which inform the Paradox sound are covered with a unique support cast of Dj’s taking it from the early funk roots which are the basis to his sound to the intricate drum programming of Jungle and Drum Funk Drum and Bass. Frenzie, Mark Pritchard, Ritual and Victim will cover the whole spectrum of breakbeat music with supporting Dj sets and a very special Live performance by one of Australia’s hottest properties right now, Dizz1, who is also launching his spectacular 3rd Time Lucky EP on Nod Navigators . If this isn’t enough we have added a second room which is hosted by ForeignDub and The night covering everything from Reggae though to Dubstep though to Liquid Drum and Bass. INDEX featuring PARADOX / LIVE ‘UK’ (Paradox Music / Reinforced / Metalheadz / Moving Shadow /Renegade Hardware / Good Looking / Hospital / Droppin Science / Esoteric / Outsider / Timeless / Suburban Bass) Room 1 DIZZ1 / LIVE (Nod Navigators) MARK PRITCHARD FRENZIE RITUAL VICTIM Room 2 WHITEY (The Night) FIRE (The Night) PO (Foreign Dub) B HOPPS (Foreign Dub) Friday November 20th, 2009 / Civic Underground / Pitt and Goulburn St / City 9pm – 5am / $25 presale from Qjump.com.au and Inthemix.com.au Paradox – Biography Paradox is a certified breakbeat pioneer with a production career fast approaching 20 years. Having first released back in 1990, he’s since amassed a back catalogue of over 120 singles on leading drum and bass labels including Reinforced, Good Looking, Hospital and Metalheadz. He nowadays runs his own imprints as the primary outlet for his tracks, with Paradox Music, Arctic, Esoteric and Outsider each having a unique identity and focus. Producing alone under the names Paradox and Alaska, he also collaborates regularly with the likes of Seba and Nucleus, as well as vocalists including Kirsty Hawkshaw and Robert Manos. His appetite for touring remains as strong as ever and he continues to astound and entertain crowds with his live shows, mixing banter, commentary and chat with breakbeats for a one-off PA. The musical career of Dev Pandya dates back to 1990 when 'Mixrace' was formed with partner DJ Trax. From their first releases on leading hardcore label Moving Shadow, the pair went on to set-up and record for their own labels Stronghold, Mobhanded and Offset Recordings before Dev’s Paradox guise emerged in 1996. Exploding across the scene with a string of 12" releases on Renegade Hardware, Certificate 18 and 4Hero's Reinforced Records, Paradox soon became a name synonymous with abstract atmospherics and intricate breaks. His Alaska alias appeared at the same time yet focused on more ambient productions, releasing on labels such as Good Looking, Renegade, Vibez, 720 Degrees and Nexus. Pioneering a style that channels the 70’s funk of breakbeats, Paradox has always focused on the raw elements of drum and bass within his music. Appealing to an audience beyond the confines of a club environment, his production credits include work for ESPN, Konami Arcade platforms and Sony Playstation games in the USA and Japan. Often choosing to position himself as an outsider, Paradox’s success has never been limited to that of the UK-orientated drum and bass scene. He has collaborated with some of greatest contemporary musicians the world has to offer, including Herbie Hancock, Bill Laswell, Shobha Gurtu, Toshinori Kondo and Bernie Worrell. His newly released 7th album saw Paradox and Alaska join forces for the “Isolationist LP”. As a a bonus, the CD includes more from the infamous Sample Me series - specially edited breakbeat samples for aspiring producers to loop and splice – and shows Paradox’s commitment to the grass roots of the scene, giving something back to the fans and those he’s inspired. When he’s not in the studio, Paradox is inevitably on tour and continues to entertain crowds with his live P.A. shows worldwide. Armed only with his trusty Amiga, synths and a mic, he performs a truly live PA, reconstructing tracks from his back catalogue and editing beats on the fly. He has performed over 180 international live shows covering USA, Europe, Asia and beyond and continues to venture into unchartered territory to represent his sound.
  3. DUSTED returns on Saturday September 5th with one of the biggest names in hardcore breakbeat and jungle, UK legend - BIZZY B. Amazingly Bizzy B has never played in Australia and after years and years of playing all the legendary raves in the UK he finally makes his way down under. With countless releases on all the major UK labels in the 90’s, Bizzy B was once again in the spotlight at the turn of the millennium with his 4 releases of all new material on arguably the biggest label of the last 10 years, Planet Mu. Also due for release is his much awaited ‘Retrospective’ compilation due on Planet Mu in the coming weeks. Joining Bizzy B are some of Sydney’s biggest oldskool names of the 90’s. Mark N, Biz E, The Cleaner, Alf, Ritual, Vaughan, Lex Luthor (aka Luke Snarl) and Victim return with Jungle Punks - DJ Manson, Swarm’s – Vic and the infamous Geoff Da Chef making their way to Dusted line-up. From 92-94 they released some of the best Junglistic'ardcore there was. Classics like Darkness, Weekend, Dub plate Wars, 2 Dope ep, and artists like TDK whose TOG sub label was a peak of amen choppage). Brain also put out the debut releases of Marc Caro (Technical Itch), Peshay and DJ Zinc (in the Swift and Zinc eps) and Slammin' Vinyl's Mike Slammer and Red Alert's first 2 releases. Bizzy also released many a classic on other labels such as Slowjam & DarkIII on Whitehouse, Stamina and Raw Dogs Relik on Suburban Base and many more. In 2002 he was producing 2-step and Breaks with his Undercover Agents label and still releasing drum'n'bass under "Warped Science" (latest being 'After F' on Charge with DJ Fresh on the same ep). 5. You guys are in for a treat on Friday August 28! Direct from LA, 6BLOCC aka R.A.W aka BBOY 3000 aka Hoodz is one mean boy behind the turntables. Respected across many scenes, this boy has come up through hip hop in the late 80’s, into breakbeat and hardcore, jungle and now rolling it with the steppa’s in 2009. This man has seen it all and he has the battle scars to prove it. Best believe this guy is not only a DJ / turntablist, but his Dubstep productions as 6BLOCC and HOODZ are some of the heaviest and dirtiest basslines in Dubstep. Carrying the weight of his background his sound is a mashup of everything he has come up on and always heavy on the breakbeats and dirty basslines. Expect a long set from this man as he starts of with his unique take on the Dubstep sound (or as some call it Ragga Dubstep) and then builds it up to an oldschool jungle mash-up. To support 6BLOCC we bring in one of Sydney’s best jungle turnbalists, the mighty MURDA 1 for his Void debut. This boy also knows his Dubstep so again, expect a mashup of everything bass! VOID/ DUBSTEP/JUNGLE showcase featuring 6BLOCC/R.A.W ‘USA’ Line-up 6BLOCC / R.A.W ( Lo Dubs, Terminal Dusk, N2O, Tribe Steppa’s, WAR ) MURDA 1 VICTIM HARMONIC 313 PAUL FRASER MAX GOSFORD Hosted by STEVE SPACEK Friday August 28th, 2009 / Phoenix Bar – 34 Oxford St, Darlinghurst 9pm – 5am / $18 presale from Qjump.com.au and Inthemix.com.au http://www.myspace.com/bboy3000 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taJHz8ZxQKE R.A.W. / 6BLOCC "L.A. Original" R.A.W. aka 6BLOCC is known for his relentless techniques behind the wheels of steel. Getting his start back in 1985, this dj is no amateur when it comes to tuntablizm. He was already battling local djs in Los Angeles before the modern dj culture was even created. In 1988 he made his move into the hip hop game with 2 vinyl releases under the name PROJECT X which featured Brooklyn MC, SILKSKI. He went on to film a music video for one of the releases which aired on local L.A. music video shows. That same year he joined the legendary L.A. hiphop radio station, KDAY and spun live broadcasts along with other Angelino djs called HIGH ENERGY MIXMASTERS. During this time, he entered many dj battles including showdowns with Joe Cooley, Tony A. and JRocc. This experience has led to the legend we now see on the decks. In 1991 the sounds of UK hardcore / jungle were creeping onto the shelves of dance shops in L.A. and R.A.W. was quick to spin and represent. With help from Dj Dan, R.A.W. began playing at major raves and underground events throughout the west coast. His sound at the time was a blend of jungle, hiphop, turntablizm and hardcore sounds which made him an instant draw in the underground scene. By 1994 R.A.W. alongside Dj Curious and Dj Trance (Jason Blakemore) started L.A.'s first jungle weekly called....JUNGLE! Located at a dirty abandoned train station known as the Belmont Tunnel (Predator II was filmed here as well), the weekly gathering was the only place on the westcoast to hear the dark sounds of reinforced and suburban base records. The venue was kept dark with only one laser to keep the junglist listening and falling deeper into the music. By the mid-90's R.A.W. was traveling all over the world rocking crowds with his signature sound of urban jungle choonz and b-boy turntable tactics. In 1997, R.A.W. would go on to win the West L.A. Music Dj Battle judged by Dj Quik. "I remember Quick jumping like crazy when I was rocking doubles of J Magik's 'Your Sound'", says R.A.W. Shortly after this he was hired by a Japanese sound design company to produce 2 sample cd's: DRUM AND BASS AMMO and HIP HOP AMMO; both were sold with the Roland SP-808 in Japan. Also around this time he began to release his jungle productions on labels like Warner Bros., Thrive, Priority, Mictlan, Tonz of Drumz, N2O and by 2000 on labels like Thermal, Vortex, Sound Sphere where the sound was getting faster and rougher. His single on Sound Sphere was a masterpiece created with E-Sassin at the Sound Sphere studios. Together they weaved an intricate tale of twisted breaks and evil winds over a relentless bassline that would pound the listener every 16 counts. "That song still wrecks shop everytime I play it out..and of course I have to rock doubles!" Other R.A.W. classics still rock dancefloors worldwide like - Passin Me By Remix, Klash, Jah Rise, Ragga 2001 (which brought the stateside ragga-jungle sound to the masses), Mathematical Chemistry and Monkey Business..just to name a few! His discography has reached over 50 vinyl releases and a plethora of mixtape / mix-cd releases that sell out throughout the year! In 2006, while working on some drum and bass material R.A.W. heard a bassline coming from the nextdoor studio and asked, "what or who is this?" It was a mix by Youngsta from the UK, "the sound spoke to me and said follow me...and I did". R.A.W. continues, "I felt like I was ready to change my style and move onto a new sound...dubstep was exactly what I needed at the time. Drum and bass reached a point where I no longer felt like it was me and it was also getting too fast and void of the funk." By 2007 R.A.W reinvents himself as 6BLOCC and is releasing his new sound on labels like Lo Dubs, N2O, Tribe Steppaz UK, Bootshake UK, La Dubstep Nostra and the popular white label War Recordings. In 2008, Portland bass music label, Lo Dubs calls upon the 6BLOCC to rock a mix cd featuring the Lo Dubs roster. A blend of hypnotic textures and warped basslines from the future cut the f*ck up using Cubase SX3, 6blocc says, "I decided to use Cubase to give it a different feel than the usual mix-cd and to add my own samples and edits." The result is ANALOG CLASH, the first CD compilation / mix that features dubstep music from the Americas (north and south) as well as a remix from Vex'd. So far it has sold over 3000 units within months of the release date! When he isn't on the road or in the air flying to various clubs and events throught out the U.S. 6BLOCC is managing his digi-label DIGITAL 6 (available on http://www.digital-tunes.net - http://www.chemical-records.co.uk - http://www.addictech.com - http://www.beatsdigital.com) and knocking out dubstep remixes and originals. The word on the streets is 6BLOCC is looking to put out some white labels of his hottest dubplates that always get the call...PUULLLL UUUPPPPP!!!! If you're wondering what the name 6BLOCC means? "I got the name from a Masta Ace song where he says, "the bass I create is heard from six blocks". BOOM!
