You should, its free. Providing you have a legit version.

Yeah but its more expensive. Will the Maschine still work well with Serato. I learnt pretty much everything about serato tonight... love it. 1.9 looks mad, apart from there being no pitch control on the 4 secondary decks

Hey guys. Going to make a gradual shift to a DVS system with the twin 1200s and two CD players for a bit of alternation. Not prepared to go fully digital. Also Im hoping to get a drum machine as I am an ex drummer and have a great sense of rhythm. Im thinking of going with Traktor Scracth Duo and grabbing the NI Maschine http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/cat/index.cgi/shopfront/view_product_details?category_id=7892&product_id=1219733 for obvious reasons. What do you guys think? Any tips? - Additional hardware - Serarto or Torq - Live for samples? - Traktor Duo or Pro etc

Is there a section on the site for each member where they can access all their subscribed threads to find out if any new posts have occured? Like a control panel. The most important feature on succesful forums IMO.

nah I think thats the BDX700. Its shithouse apparantly. The DDM4000 is brilliant for its price. Fully MIDI enabled aswell

Can I mix off Virtual DJ, cus i havent got the right equipment to run my decks into the PC atm. Guess you could consider me a bit of a dinosaur lol. (I'm only 21 though)

Yeah super harsh. I hate their USD conversion to AUD, thats a killer sometimes.

It sounds to me that you arent against CDJs so much but favour a computer based cue system? Then why not use Serato? Basically enables you to look like your average club DJ but with a laptop to mount your songs. Maybe run Live through another channel for your loops and samples?... i dunno.

Sorry if i offened you in my post, i was just trying to find some answers. I can change my username if it annoys you. Drew. Hey I said sorry dude. Don't take the easy road out. You will regret it. It's bloody satisfying to wrestle with the tempo of two songs and bring them together with your own hands and as you said before, the industry standard is still a mixer 2 CDJs and/or turntables. So stick with that, if you plan to work your way up anyway. CBG..you were so close to getting Flame buy me if it was not for second post to lable all software d.j as try-hards want-to-be's who have not taken the hard road is in my eyes bill-shit @synx use what feels right for you It's called constructive criticism and i wasnt aiming it directly at DJsYNX

Hey man, if you've allready used Pioneers and learnt how to beat match, its completely different. I thought you were an absoloute beginner. If you are performing live, and want to do it with a laptop. Then beatmatching is not that much of a problem. As Live and others do that anyway. Personally, Im not a massive fan of watching dudes stare into their laptops. But good DJs balance it well such as Deadmau5: He uses Live, one of those crazy metonomes or whatever their called, a SEU and Xone 32 mixer.

hey, this looks good. Any spots atm? I can do progressive, electro house, techno etc.

Yeah serato is mad. Doesn't take away the human element and enables smoother looping

Got one a while ago. Love it.

hey bro, dont get sucked into getting the CDJ1000s. go for the 800s not much different and heaps cheaper. Especially considering your a begginner. But then again if you have no limit on money, why not? lol

oh just for the record. I do not disagree (sorry bout the double negative) with midi controllers or things like serato (more or less the same). I disagree with all the abilities that software seem to carry like: "It works out the tempo, can beat match, can change speed of the song without affecting pitch" )allthough the tempo lock comes with most CD players these days, I dont promote it either. Sorry for the harshness of my previous post... but my god it annoys me. Seems every kid with VDJ and a sense of beat is a DJ now yeah?
-
Sorry mate, but you make me feel a little sick inside. The fact that you consider yourself somewhat of a DJ dissapoints me. I dont care what anyone says. You cannot consider yourself a DJ until can comfortably beat match two songs, adjust the pitch etc. Im sick of hearing all this noobs saying they can DJ with their software driven bullshit. Answer me this... could walk into a club, any random club, with your own CDs or Vinyls and comfortably pump out a 3hr set, with minimal faults, using their gear?

Does anyone have a decent list of free tutorials for these programs? I'm working on Cubase and Live at the moment.

Firstly, hello, this is my first post here, as I was directed here from another forum. Please read. Ok, my main goal is to get into Producing electric music. If it helps my favourite artists atm are probably Deadmau5 and EDX. But any dance is good for me within about a 10BPM range. I started off ages ago just self taught on Virtual DJ and in the last 6 months I've fully moved to decks. Can now comfortably beat match, work EQs etc. I'm currently doing a Comprehensive course at United DJ School, just to get back to the basics and pick up a few things I haven't allready picked up, like using turntables, serato etc. Ok, now once I have finished that, I hope to get some work as a DJ around Melbourne, as it the school states that their better students can be helped into employment (im not being arogant, but from what I have gathered I know the most out of the students in our class). Once I have some work experience in the field and probably whilst getting the experience, I hope to get comfortable with Logic, Live, Cubase etc. Just self taught, from all reports, youtube and other forums are great. Now my main question is, finally, that should I go on and do the EMP course at SAE and/or do the Audio Production Degree? The EMP course is a fair bit of $ for a 2 night a week 6 month course, but it provides you access to all their knowledge, hardware and software and it also credits towards the degree. The degree is very in depth and obviously, if done should be given 100%. What are the likely hoods of achieving employment out of the course (it doesnt really matter where, Ill be producing on the side all the time) and can i achieve this knowledge somewhere else for cheaper? Is it worth it? Please be realistic. I refuse to believe that you can just look through youtube and forums and acheive the same amount of knowledge as an audio engineer. Thanks!
