1210s, if I remember right, have a voltage switch underneath the platter, which allows you to switch between japanese/american voltage and ours. 1200s don't have this. Not sure if that feature was available on all 1210 models so you'd have to ask whoever you were buying it from. Stanton ST-150 (and STR8-150), Citronic PD-45, SYNC XTRM1, Reloop RP6000, Omnitronic DD5200 and American Audio HTD4.5 are some common ones, although there's probably more. A manufacturer in China produces a base model, and each brand puts their own stickers and crap onto it. Whether it'd be worth getting one over a used technics is debatable. There are some great deals that pop up every now and again (I got my mk5 from Japan for $500 shipped, hardly used), and you know you're getting a quality product that has a ton of replaceable parts. With the OEM products, you can get them cheaper and usually new, but the tradeoff is that they haven't stood the test of time like technics have.

do they? For what you'd be looking for in a production monitor, yeah. Great for listening, not so great for critical listening due to the mid-bass hump.

Yep; in your case it would require a simple rca cable out of the DDJ to the rca input on the z506.

We used a logitech z506 system at the meet. Considering it was $100, it was decent, and I'd imagine in a bedroom it'd be more than good enough for a beginner as long as you dont require a huge sub bass presence. You should be able to plug your DDJ outputs into the amplifier of the surround sound system. I would assume it'd accept the typical rca connection.

Speakers, a laptop to plug it into, the software to use (which was probably supplied with the ddj), and headphones is all you really need to get started.

Even if they did send a compatible cable, the voltage differences still would've fucked it. What you needed was a step down transformer.

I doubt that would work grem, something's blown inside it. If you've got a warranty, that would be your best bet. If not, ask around at electricians and they might be able to sort it.
