  1. It's good to see Beatport doing something about scumbags who buy their way into success. I see a lot of small dance musicians on Facebook showing us emails that they get from these types of "companies", often mocking them and those who use these services. If you want to be successful, you have to be passionate about what you're doing. It'll take a looong time until you get successful but it'll definitely be worth the wait. But waiting seems to be something a lot of people don't want to do. I've seen my friends who just give up what they're doing (either music or making Youtube skits) because they're not seeing the success already. It's kind of sad really but that just makes me want to keep making music and continue to improve myself. I honestly don't care that I only get like 30 views per video, it's still good to know that people are actually taking the time to listen to my stuff. Now if only Soundcloud will start doing the same thing.
  2. Definitely man. Thanks for the advice. Appreciate it .
  3. Yeah, I've always actually done this, I just never thought that it was a "proper" way to write music (because you always read in interviews and stuff that like people would write like 500 versions of a track or something before making the final version haha). Instead of sitting in front of a laptop and forcing myself to make a song, I forget about making music entirely and do something else that interest me like read a book or play games. Ideas will usually come naturally from there and it usually comes out about 90% of how it sounded in my brain. But this is just pissing me off because I know what I want to make but at the same time I don't. Really frustrating haha. I guess I'll just have to chill out and don't stress myself. It'll drop by someday. Cheers for the reply guys
  4. This reminds of games like 'The Swapper', 'Portal' or the 'Half Life' series. So dark and mysterious. Even movies like 'Space Odyssey'. I'd honestly never be able to write stuff like this haha. Nice work man
  5. Sup all. I had this awesome sounding tune in my head a while back and I've been working on it these past few days. The results were... not rly good. Did as much as I could. Went from changing how the song sounds like altogether to trying to go back with what I originally had in my brain but ehh... I guess you could call it writers block. Anyways, I'm just wondering how you guys solve this issue. Do you keep trying your darndest to make it work or do you stop working on it for a bit and get some other stuff done. Interested to hearing what ya'll have to say. Cheers
  6. ^Actually, the best/worst thing about wearing Beats is that everyone will like you more or think you're more "Pro". At one of me gigs, I forgot my cans and of the host's mates lent me his Beats. It was the worst sounding thing ever and the headphones themselves felt like they were about to break at any moment. But sooo many people came up to me and complimented "my" Beats. One of them even told me I looked pro for having them on. *sigh*
  7. Here's my review on Beats: No
  8. This could be of inspiration. I know a live act and producing is different but still, sounds like it could help with what you're looking for. As for the gear he used, I have a DVD of him live and I'm pretty sure he uses the same gear in the link and on the DVD. In the picture, I see 2 Novation Launchpads, an AKAI APC40 and I don't know what the unit on the far right is called but I know it's drum sampler you hit with drum sticks. In the Youtube video there's a Midi Keyboard (again, don't know the brand soz). The DAW that he uses Ableton Live. Anyways, hope that helps. What you're doing sound flippin awesome man, can't wait to hear it
  9. Thank you, appreciate the kindness
  10. Sup all, just uploaded a new tune for your eardrums. Tell me what you think
  11. Haha, no worries man. It's pretty cool, I'm loving the fidget stuff though I still need to use it some day
  12. ^ Yeah, talking to the guys at your local music shop and testing out the speakers is definitely a great way to get all the info you need, plus the great thing about retail is that they'll give you a good deal. I personally have the 8" Behringer Truths, great things but they're a bit lacking in the top end, I'll get to that later. If you're worried about not generating too much noise outside your room then that's actually quite a good thing, you should mix at lower levels. Mixing at lower levels is much more beneficial than mixing at higher levels. You don't piss off the household, your ears won't be as tired, the bottom and top end isn't hyped and you won't get any gross room reflections from mixing too loud. About my speakers not having much top end, while your making your tune you'll find that it sounds perfect on the speakers. Everything sounds fantastic and you're happy with your product. Then you listen to the same song on a different source of sound and you'll find that it sounds terrible (eg, with my tunes it lacked top end). Impossible, right? How come it sounds good on your studio monitors but terrible everywhere else? Well, your monitors might not be as perfect as you think. When you make music on your monitors, it'll only sound good on your monitors. That's why you should listen to your music on different sources, take note of what's wrong with it on that particular source and fix it in your DAW. So having a pair headphones (and other sources of sound) is a good idea so that your track sounds good on a wide variety of headphones and speakers. Just a bit of advice before you get pissed off at your speakers
  13. Yeah man, no problem. https://www.dropbox.com/s/di9lac9hx3xiti2/BHK%20Samples_Selections.zip There ye go
  14. Dope tune, absolutely massive. Liked and followed. Good job man
  15. Hopefully I'm not too late to ride the h8 train. One of me mates found this online. "Nobody does the producing, the mixing, the mastering by themselves." Excuse me?
  16. Dope tracks but I'd definitely go for the tune with no melody, it has a nice, minimilastic darker tone to it. The tune with melody just sounds like too much is happening at once, it's kinda off putting actually.
  17. Awesome post. Wanting to do a little recording/mixing for some bands/musicians as an extra way to get cash so these vids are absolutely awesome. Cheers
  18. Cheers for the advice man, haven't really worked with vocals much but I'll be sure follow your tip next time I do
  19. Thanks man, the vocals were some DIY that I found somewhere on the net so it sounded pretty bad in the first place (that's why you hear some ringing at the outro of the track). My goal was to make it "blend" with the rest of the track as oppose to making it just sit on top of it. I did some heavy de-essing to get rid of the "sss" sound but it ended up sounding pretty muddy. So I boosted the top end at 8khz at around 3db until it "sat" there nice in the track but I guess it still wasn't enough haha. Appreciate the feedback though
  20. Cheers man, appreciate the support
  21. Thank you man, glad you enjoyed it Totally, here you go: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dnlv8cmsc3aejp3/Calvin%20Harris%20-%20Sweet%20Nothing%20%28Misterchow%20Remix%29.zip
  22. Hey all, made a remix to Calvin Harris' "Sweet Nothing". Check it out and enjoy
  23. No problem Just got back and checked out what the pack has to offer. As in the description, it's a sample of all their samples mixed into one. Mostly for DnB stuff, couple of Fidget, Drumstep and Dubstep stuff. There's some presets for Massive and FM8 (which I don't have), drum loops, drum hits, FX and other stuff you'd expect from a sample pack. Great for DnB but I don't make any of it but I'm always downloading any samples I can find in case there's a sound that I can use. Plus it's free (for now) so you really can't complain.
  24. Hey all, didn't really know where to post this so I'll just put this here.
