The last ones are meh. I used them at my college and they're not that good imo. But then again my monitors are the 8" Behringer Truth B2031A" speakers that piss the neighbours off. Just a note, the room you mix in is just as important as the speakers themselves. But a lot of us (including me, lmao) just don't have the budget to treat their room. As Mitch said, it's more about working with what you got and learning how your room sounds. Personally, I recommend picking out songs that you think are mixed well in WAV format (or a reference track), head to your local StoreDJ or store that sells these stuff, and testing these tracks across these speakers. Also talk to the people working there, my experience with these folks are always positive and they'll help you out

It's alright, I really like the piano in this tune. It sounds hella pretty. The drums are nice too, though a bit too compressed and "exciting" for my taste. Although it's missing some low end. He needs to put a bassline to make it more full. Maybe if he added a bassline during the drop, it would sound pretty cool. Also, the song is so busy before the drop so when it comes, it's sorta underwhelming. Other than that, it's not a bad tune. I don't really dig this style of dubstep but I really liked the piano in this track.

My mom has an iMac from like '08, I think? Don't think we could take the stand off on that model. When we were packing our stuff to move to Malaysia from Perth, the packing company we hired wrapped it with a butt-tonne of bubble wrap and placed it in a box on it's stand with some other stuff so that that the Mac won't move around so much. Maybe that didn't answer your question but that's what we did and the machine still works fine.

This is actually a solid article. Cheers for sharing

You're using FL, yeah? There's a pretty easy way to sidechain your tracks using an extra kick sample and Fruity Limiter
-
Haha, what a weird tune but I dig the idea though. It's a pretty cool track. I also like the violin/viola/whatever sample at the start. The "whoosh" thing at the start was a pretty loud and there's a bit too much brickwall limiting. Give it more headroom, maybe add some percussions, clean it up a bit and you'll have a sweet dark tech-housey tune. Also, you should sidechain the kick and bass, they were kinda clashing.

Second track is up! 808 drums with crazy synths and a heavy sub bass, inspired by the "Legend of Korra" credit song.

You can download the EP here: https://narukami.bandcamp.com/releases I'll probably post the other tracks on this thread to avoid flooding the forums. Thanks for checking it out

Greetings, Previously MrCh0w, I changed my name to Narukami. Mainly because I've changed my sound entirely but I don't wanna make a new account for this forum. (Cheers Cupe for changing my username!) Anyways, I'll be making Chillwave-y/Future Bass type music, similar to Flume, Hermitude or Tokimonsta. If you're into that, then stay tuned!

Tried this twice. Once on speakers and another on headphones. First time, I didn't pick any 128kbps tracks but only picked the 320kbps instead. I only got 1 question right, which was the Suzanne Vega track. Being unhappy with my noobness, I tried it again. Second time I picked 4 tracks right, one 320kbps and one 128kbps. Ironically enough, it was the Suzanne Vega track where I chose for 128kbps. I'm not an "audiophile" or a pro myself but I can usually tell when a track is 128kbps. I find that the distortion is much more apparent on songs with a lot going on.

I thought this was gonna be like a joke thread, turn out it's a thread for a hella rad video Tbh, I've been kinda not interested in DJing lately, what with the Sasha Grey's and the Paris Hilton's and all the sync-button bros out there. But I'm glad there are people out there still trying to keep DJing as an art alive.

Nice tutorial man pretty straightforward and goes right to the point. I've been looking for a tutorial for vocal chops so it's good that I found one. Only thing I could criticise is providing a good preview of what the final sample would sound like in an actual song. Would be useful as a reference for viewers.

It's completely fine if the hosts are okay with you doing it. A lot of people enjoy my voice and they always ask me to make a announcements and stuff like that. As long as you're confident on the mic, then I say go for it.

Last thing before we get back to topic, if I ever visit Perth, I'll give you a should. Would love to meet a fellow ADJFer

As long as they don't yell at us for it, should be fine to go off topic Kent Street Senior High. Somewhere around Vic Park. I guess Kent Street to be more specific hahaha
