  1. Sup guys? Had a decent break from djing cause i was getting bored with it...anyway. Put this set together today. Would love to hear what you have to say on it, good or bad Also looking for gigs in brisbane if anyone knows someone that might have some info that i could possibly use to contact someone that knows someone.... I got a few here and there and i head out every fortnight but just not getting in contact with the right people. Well here it is.... https://soundcloud.com/zoidburgg/the-yodeling-banjo
  2. Feel free to use anything that goes up on my soundcloud if you need new shit. https://soundcloud.com/zoidburgg/the-communist-mixtape-1 https://soundcloud.com/zoidburgg/the-stinky
  3. Just gonna have to dig harder for those sweet bootlegs, remixes and unsigned producers
  4. ^ Naice! Yes it's a thrift shop remix but it cranks!!! Dem Slackers delivering the goods! https://soundcloud.com/demslackers/macklemore-thrift-shop-dem
  5. T'was a good night!! Your set was amaze dude! I spent about $80 over my budget
  6. Some decent tracks in there! A few tips, for example, at 11:47 where oi and move it to the drum are playing, try fading the track that's playing out down a little bit as the new track is building to give the effect of the one coming in getting a little louder and overpowering the old one towards the drop or the breakdown. And also right on 12:00 there i would have cut the old track out for that bit of the build or at least LPF'd the old track to give more oomph to the build for the drop on oi. And one last thing, try not letting your tracks mix for so long sometimes, once you learn your songs well you will know your breakdowns and builds and stuff but try cutting them out a little earlier if you know a breakdown is about to happen on a new track.
  7. So i did the opposite of what Mitch told me to do in my last topic and went all out again instead of a warm up set but i came across some love little dittys and couldn't go past putting them together Result - https://soundcloud.com/zoidburgg/the-communist-mixtape-1
  8. I'm in Brisbane.
  9. Yeah i think i'm just gonna have to talk to the mrs and have a lot of sober weekends out lol. I've been asking a few guys that dj regularly for any open spots but the people i'm asking i don't really know so i didn't think they'd help me out much. You guys pretty much confirmed what i was already thinking. Thanks heaps for the tips. Guess i'm just gonna have to get a hair cut and put on my finest suspenders and hair grease and hit the town i s'pose i could be doing worse things to chase a dream
  10. Dude that feedback is perfect and a frigging great piece of advice. I contemplated doing something like that but i don't actually know what is played early on at most clubs cause A. I am never usually in there too early. B. I am usually drunk and C. I haven't been out in months but i will talk to some mates in the industry and ask some advice and see if i can get something a little less peak time put together. Thanks!!!!!
  11. I did this set quickly yesterday arvo to try and entice some people to give me some gigs as i have a young family and can't get out and network on the weekends like everyone else and i thought i'd post it up here too for anyone that might wanna listen Haven't been on here in a while so thought i'd come back with a present https://soundcloud.com/zoidburgg/the-stinky
  12. yyeeeaaahhh buddy!! ^
  13. This is a mix i did for my 17 year old niece so she had something to get down to back at her place in Darwin. http://soundcloud.com/zoidburgg/ashes-bash-ya-stash-and-mash
  14. Played my first ever live gig last week, it was a minimal set and this is how it went I actually played it better on the night than what i did in this recording lol http://soundcloud.com/zoidburgg
  15. I wasn't sure you could even run car subs off a home receiver cause of the ohm difference? Don't home theatre speakers normally run on 8 ohms or something? My subs run off 2 ohms or something i think.
  16. did they sound ok in such a big space?
  17. I thought about that but i live with my mother in law so i don't wanna progress her hearing loss further and the pioneers crank out enough bass to rattle the windows and the garage doors I'm gonna sell those subs for $400 if anyone wants them, MTX thunder 8000's in a custom tuned to 20hz box Major boom boom!
  18. Setup at the new joint. The subs aren't hooked up, i just used them to bring the monitors up to head height and plus i like the look of it \:D/
  19. Yeah, i think you're right, i don't think i'm that great but i'm above beginner level, i can mix smoothly these days so i don't wanna take away from any other beginners.
  20. been djing about 1 1/2 years, played 2 house parties and 1 gig at a silent disco that no one listened to
  21. Yeah most of them have been here before but that's cause they're still some of the biggest out. If they brought a bunch of people the general public hadn't heard of then they'd just have a festival with about 5000 dj's and a few of their mates there instead of a 10 000 strong crowd I think this is a fucking great line up. I wish they'd listen to me and get Michael Woods out here though, he would destroy the Aus crowd i reckon, he does big progressive and hammering electro so fucking well! As i am currently unemployed and broke as fuck, i am gonna be offering wristies, blowies, anal, leather, whipping, the fucking works to get money for a ticket so any of you lonely bastards out there hit me up for some lovin! I'm cheap but generous if you catch my drift
  22. My 2 best in recent memory are Calvin harris at stereosonic in 2010. By the time he came on my friends and i were all fucked, could hardly move any more and unimpressed with the acts playing so we were sitting in the stands just talking then when he came on he just created such good energy and kept it going though his whole set, i never rated him before that but he really impressed me and now he's one of my fav dj's to see live. Also Kissy sellout at the Family nightclub in bris. He played his whole set at about 134bpm and was constantly switching back and forth between tracks, sampling, just generally being fucking awesome on the decks, i was honestly gobsmacked, i'd never seen anything like it live. For anyone that hasn't seen it check out his pioneer dj sounds show set. He was just like that live! I think the crack he'd been smoking might have something to do with it but whatever floats his boat
