  1. Hey guys.. I tried out another mix, one that im actually happy with - its the first part of possibly a hour long mix I want to complete. Anyway, here goes it: http://soundcloud.com/djgotskillz/messing-around-with-acapellas Intro Avicii - Sweet Dreams Deadmau5 and Lil Jon mash up Nils van Zandt vs Sergio Silvano - The Beat Don't stop Lil Jon - Hotel Room Service Let me know! Im still obviously quite shaky around fading and timing of acapellas, but yeah.. open to feedback! Cheers.
  2. Such an easy fix! haha thanks.. It has allowed me to make another mix, which I shall post up in a moment
  3. haha! yeah, to be honest bro, I hate it.. When I was a kid I used to much around taping my voice, since I hate it.. but yeah, dont mind even if I get a free editor, but so long as its not that stantard robot from the windows application lol. Ill have a play around tonight I believe! edit:: Thanks Russell.. but yeah, no offense intended, but if *I* know its my voice, even if its warped enough to sound totrally different, I wont use it haha. Cheers
  4. I work for a large financial organisation mostly call centre work, but partially administration as well. A lot of my job is based on talking on the phone. Edit:: im not too fussed if the audience knows the voice comes from a known source (eg txt to speech editor), but yeah, pretty adamant my voice isn't going on there, maybe not until im "good" haha. Just to re-emphasise, this is only to kill time and muck around at the moment, at least while im learning.
  5. Yeah.. even with my own voice changed, I will personally know its my own voice, im not a fan of it, despite my profession. I will look into text/speech editors again I guess
  6. I'd really prefer not to lol, I hate my voice at the best of times.
  7. wow.. im so sorry, but I dont understand what you mean?
  8. Hey, Im getting very "ask happy" at the moment lol, I have looked around, at text to speech applications over the internet, and nothing is really answering - Is there something available that I can customise a "you're in the mix with...." intro that I can save as an audio file? Text to speech software etc..?
  9. hey bud: Thanks for the welcome, I posted a link to a sound cloud I made.. but yeah, dont expect anything hecktick.. viewtopic.php?f=106&t=8168
  10. I'll definately have to suss this out! Cheers.
  11. I loved it mate, exactly the stuff i try to work on, but yeah, you're 1903u40 times btter than I am lol.
  12. Hi guys! I've only just started in the mixing game personally (hence posting in the beginners threads haha) I'm only using Virtual DJ at the moment, which I've read is very average for mixing - but I guess I want to master that before spending lots of dollars on mixers etc. I want to experiment with throwing Acapella's onto beats, and mix-matching them for mashups, but I have a few quesaitons: Where would one get good quality Acapella's? Is there a way to increase/decrease the tempo of an acapella without it sounding like they're on helium or - on the other end of the scale, a record with not enough power supply? Cheers!
  13. Thanks buddy! Yeah, I guess the commercial, or 'club' scene is where I get a lot of my inspiration, I listen a LOT to particular DJ's and attempt to mirror thier style. The way I "mix" I guess, it would be asif I was DJ'ing for a club, and getting people on thier feet. Like I said, im working on another mix at the moment, trying to fix up the stuff ups, the one question I have - is it possible to increase tempo of acapella's wihtout them sounding like they're on helium? I only use the basics at the moment (virtual DJ) so yeah, any advice on that would be perfect. Cheers!
  14. ohh.. right.. I will learn the ropes of this site eventually haha.. I am currently working on something else at home, so I'll definately keep a tab of the times! edit:: wait, you mean on my soundcloud notes? I didnt' leave comments, as to leave it cleaner.. I can put them iun the description area? Sorry bud.
  15. Ah wow! Cheers! I knew I'd get grilled for that haha.
  16. Hey guys.. This is absolutely terrible, I know! I plan to improve obviously, but yeah, this is KIND of the style im going after.. NONE of these tracks are my own, I have downloaded some mixes from other artists on SoundCloud, im not trying to make this my own stuff, just mixing.. (disclaimer) http://soundcloud.com/djgotskillz/first-mashup "tracklist" Nari & Milani - I Got My Eye On You (Nari & Milani Remix) Bombs Away - Supersoaker Martin Solveig & Dragonette - Hello Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me Pitbull ft Ne-yo, Afrojack & Nayer - Give Me Everything Snoop Dogg ft Cataracts - Sweat (Bass Down Low) (found on youtube) Attempted to throw in Acapallas of Big Booty Bitches (bombs away) and Shake That (eminem ft nate dogg) which kinda failed Ke$ha - Take It Off (remix found on either youtube or soundcloud) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give It Away (dubstep mix) (found on soundcloud) "Mother...ing big fat bass" mix I had found.. I know it's quite terrible, again its kind of the way I want to lean towards with making mixes. Don't be too hard! lol
  17. This is the only thing i have done on a public arena is: http://soundcloud.com/djgotskillz/first-mashup - its absolutely terrible lol.. None of the songs are mine, again, looking into beat matchine/acapella's etc. re: awesome88, I'll probably have a lot of questions, dont get me wrong Thanks for the welcome
  18. Hey guys.. Im definately no DJ, I do however have an interest in mixing music, and "creating" mashups. Only very new into the hobby though, I play around with Virtual DJ - working out acapella's and beat matching. I aspire to get some decks and have a go properly, but want to master the "easy" stuff first! Cheers!
