I just made one thread to avoid making more threads. I have a few questions. 1. Is downloading remixes of songs illegal since they use elements of the song which may be copyrighted? 2. How do I break into the scene. I mean how do I get gigs with just having a controller and a laptop. I know this question has been asked a lot before probably. I will give some info. My plan for now is to do house parties and then get into the club scene. 3. Do I need a DJ license to avoid copyright issues? 4. How can I stand out as a DJ that makes people want me at their gigs? 5. Can I get gigs by just playing house music, or do I have to play the pop and r&b stuff as well? 6. I was thinking about DJing at my school formal, would it be moral to charge them for me playing there? Thanks in advance!

I saw dada life live on youtube and it got me thinking about how different DJ's stand out. For example deadmau5 has the helmet. Dada Life have their inflatable bananas and champagne bottles. Daft Punk have their helmets. Any others? Also how do you guys try to stand out when doing sets?

There is no button to actually change it! I just used a loop from a track on my main deck and dragged it into the remix decks. I don't see why it should be a problem!

I have been calling up all stores around Melbourne in regards to buying a Traktor Kontrol S4 and they all have it priced at $899. The resellers say that Native Instruments sold them it for around that price. Which is lower that the previous price of $1099. On the website it says "new price". Would that be possibly because they want to sell out all the current S4's to make room for some new updated S4?

Hello. I am really getting into researching what to invest my money on at the moment in terms of my gear. Currently I have a vestax spin but its not so good. So I am looking to upgrade to something a bit more professional. At the moment my view for the future is that I will start off with house gigs and then try to get into local clubs. I have $600 to use preferably with absolute max budget $800. Currently I am looking at the Traktor Kontrol S2, but there are loads of mixed reviews for it and its bigger brother - the S4. What is the best way I can go about this. Thanks in advance!

What are some good tracks playing around at the moment. My library is kind of empty and boring.

I have very bad distortion on my headphone output in my vestax spin. So I was thinking about using the controller and buying a new sound card (please reccomend me one) which I can use later on. Or just buy a new controller for under 400.

What about if I use that as headphone cue and the one in my Mac as the output?

I got a vestax spin, which is a mac version of that and I would not reccomend it. The internal souncard inside is screwed and the construction of the unit is horrible. I don't see why it would cost 350.
