autogrid works 90% of the time though, it just has to let it scan for a few seconds prior to playing the track. does serato require scanning/analysing as well?

yess that does sound good, I'm in western australia. but do you think that would be better then getting an s4? to be honest I still don't know the difference between what each would do differently or is made for sorry! The differnece between getting cheap cd players and the s4 is that you will be a better DJ if you learn to mix on the cd players.... with the S4 it is as simple as pressing play, and both songs will beatmatch automatically within the software. I'd go for 800's personally, over the 400s.... but i was assuming he was buying new in his first post

cdj900 is a cd player and the S4 is a midi controller... 2 x cdj900 and a decent mixer is $4k+ S4 is less than $1500 innit? If you're a noob to this kinda stuff, then I'd recommend the s4.... or if you wanna use cd players, get the cdj350 pack. begginers don't need 900s (even thought they are really nice)
