  1. kontrol S4 would be my pick for someone starting out, for the following reasons: 1) they are about $1k, so much cheaper than cdj's and a mixer 2) you don't need anything else except your laptop to get started (apart from speakers DUH!) 3) the software and controller are pretty damn awesome 4) if you get sick of it, and decide it's not your thing, you will still be able to sell it for good money and not lose too much 5) you can integrate control vinyl/cds at a later date if you wish /2c
  2. forgot about that... good call
  3. not what i meant... i was suggesting travelling to the GC to see sam la more
  4. some people get lucky with them, and they last a while.... a lot of others have had bad experiences
  5. gold coast?
  6. but they're australian... you can see them/ him any time
  7. disagree I have the DDM4000, and I'm in 2 minds about it. For the price, it's great. 4 channels, easy to use and bundled with features, however the sound quality isn't the best, and the effects are rubbish. Still, for $500 it's a pretty good 4 channel mixer. I had a ddm4000 as well. I see why people like them, but i agree with you. crap sound quality and crap effects... worse still, behringer stuff tends to break. as others have mentioned, the djm350 looks the goods ok, i had only heard good things about the new ones. obviously it isnt the greatest thing in the world but for a beginner i was told it was a pretty decent start... my bad lol on paper they are great value and tick all the boxes, in reality they are pretty average in the quality department. I've only owned a ddm4000, and can't comment about other models, but behringer don't have the best reputation for a reason
  8. righto.... say when
  9. so you mean 10+ songs on a cd, but unmixed? Yep. Last time I did this, it was with Punk/Hardcore tracks. Was great, beacause everyone tried to make their selection brilliant, so I managed to get into some really great artists through it. yeah, i'm down for this. does the whole CD have to conform to a certain genre?
  10. so you mean 10+ songs on a cd, but unmixed?
  11. yep, it's just a grounding point. attach em both to that knob

  13. disagree
  14. what's your budget man?
  15. +1 for the djtechtools bag, those things look effing sweet also, isn't there a purpose built bag with wheels that NI just released? I think i got email about it the other day
  16. yeah, apple said so
  17. anyone got a link to james cameron's site or something?
  18. i hope james cameron has his shit together on facebook/website/sound cloud etc... cause there's going to be plenty of eyes on him in the next couple of weeks once news spreads about this. although violence isn't the answer, he may as well get some exposure out of all this.
  19. this pretty much sums it up....
  20. +1 to both of these. Drink coupons did seem to make the bar a lot faster, but it was a pain in the arse going to find where to buy them, then go all the way back to the bar. Also, drinks were hella expensive! even for festival standards. also, cops+dogs everywhere i was shocked when i first got there, I thinking 'fucking sweet, no one is at the bar line lets get a drink!" then I saw the cost of drinks was in coupons turned around to see a massive line up for coupons! FUUUUUUU
  21. not sure exactly where you mean, is it possible to post some photos?
  22. was busy with work, I sent my driver instead
  23. my day went a little something like this: got there just in time for wynter gordon... meh... and hung around for the bingo players. They were average, so we left to scout out the rest of the festival. Spice stage was consistantly good all day, that other room behind the horden was pretty average and smelt odd. we then ventured into the horden to have a quick look, despite the acts being the harder styles of EDM. Skazi was playing at the time, and really took me by surprise. These guys rocked out pretty hard, and I urge people to go and check them out for something different. went back to the main stage to see solveig. His set was fun and commercial, but it seemed like the bloke can't mix? it all worked, and track selection > than beat matching... but it seemed like there wasn't much technical ability behind the decks. next up was chuckie, who absolutely smashed it and skrillex after that who nailed it as well. deadmau5 didn't disappoint, and his visuals and lighting were out of this world. I just got home from the after party at soho, which was cranking... but i was tired so jumped a cab home. All in all, a great day. PS. drinks coupons are bullshit... why the fuck can't they just take cash at the bars. PPS. police presence was pretty solid all day, both inside and outside the venue
  24. nah, i'm a unit without any tattoos just wear heaps of Ed Hardy hey? never in my life will i wear ed hardy or any of the christian audigay spin off brands.
