  1. Cheers chaps, Back in the day i mixed with a cdj1000 mk 1. I've sold my vinyl, but still have my cds. I was kinda thinking of cds as i can use usbs, but the ddjs1 looked nice. I don't think i'd get vinyl again, ourely because the post is so shite and i'd probably hve a lot of warped vinyl! I used a hercules controller and they were not sensitive enough and i'm old skool, so do not want to use the sync button! Wazza what are the denon dnmc6000s like? Ddj's are only two deck at the mo and i may want to use 3 sources for a mix Cheers
  2. Hey guys, I posted a while back about setups. Theres been a delay but soon i'll be able to make my purchase, but help! I stopped djing 3 years back. There i mixed on two 1210s and a cdj. I'm now getting back into it but with no hardware for me to try out, as i live in regional wa with no real music stores, i cannot get a hands on feel, so i need your help! 2 choices spring to mind, a macbook pro and a controller, or a full cdj setup. If digital do i get a ddj pack or should i go for th denon dnmc6000 as i may get a cdj for fun? Cdj would either be an 850 or 900. As i was from vinyl some of these jog wheels on controllers are tiny! Can you ge the same sensitivity in terms of control on small jog wheels? My budget is about 5k. I have no idea!
  3. Yeah, it was interesting. It was great but the techniques were so different! I think the main issue was not knowing the tracks on the playlist. O'm getting a macbook pro and a denon 6000 controller as i may get some cdjs also. 3decks can be fun to play with. Always had respect for mobile djs as it must be hard dealing with requests or asking to change the tempo for five minutes!
  4. Hey guys, Just thought i'd post my experience of being back in the mix. So from my previous posts you may know i mixed for 6years in the uk. All spectrums of house and trance and never touched on the mobile spectrum of commercial tracks. My setup then were 2 technics 1210s and a cdj1000 with an xone 92. Very good. So it was a joint party and i dabbled using a hercules controller and virtual dj on a pc. It was different, syncing at the touch of a button was strange, and felt like cheating! Plus we were using commercial chart stuff, so from long slow blends to cut and drops was also uncomfortable! The weirdest thing was not being familir with the tracks. However one thing i hated was requests and those people who think they know their stuff - request of the night: can you chang the tempo, just for five minutes. Beautiful. Cheers.
  5. Hi guys, Question, when you're mixing with a controller and traktor, can you adjust the sensitivity of the jog wheels? I'm getting back into mixing and i' old skool as i used to mix vinyl and cdjs. I had a mix on a mates controller the oher night and it seemed the jog wheel was so sensitiv th slightest touch put hings out of sync. I still match my own beats rather than a sync button. I want to get a denon dn mc6000 but if nowadays its all about pressing sync, then, quite frankly, its poo! An any rcommended dj stores in perth?
  6. Nah mate. I mixed for six years and stepped away from it three yesrs ago. Now i wanna get back in to it! Pioneersdo have that lego feel sometimes. I'm also liking traktor. Means i have to get a new lappy too!
  7. Hey chaps, So i've been on the hunt for a new setup and am tossin between a dnmc6000 or ddjs1. Any thoughts?
  8. Hey Mitch, Well budget is not a huge issue. In terms of gigs it's a tricky one up here in hedland. My background is not commercial stuff, but this town may need that to start with. If I went totally digital I'd need a new mac. The pioneer ddj stuff looks pretty good but I'm so used to vinyl. I reckon I'll have to have a test when I'm in Perth!
  9. Cheers guys. I can't wait to get back into it. Just gotta buy some gear!
  10. Hey guys, I've decided to get back into mixing after a two year absence. My setup were 2 1210 mk 5g's with a cdj1000 and an Allen and Heath x92. I sold all this and now two years later I'm feeling a tad lost on what setup. Predominantly i'm back to the bedroom before I hope to get out and get some gigs. I am tossing up between some cdj's or not sure if I should go for a pioneer ddj setup? I'm playing with the idea of a new mac if I do go totally digital. Would you go totally digital dor haver the backup dof cdj's? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers, Dragon
  11. Hey guys, I,ve recently decided to get back into my mixing after a two year break. I am completely overwhelmed with how things have changed. Living the dream in Port Hedland but looking forward very much to getting back into it. Anyone else from hedland?
