  1. Bye bye stock fader.
  2. Mmmmm! Thank you spitfire!
  3. Damn straight i will!
  4. I think there is much to be said for having multiple skill sets, now i was strictly hip hop for over ten years, sure i listen to a wide range of music, was right into metal was i was younger and playing heaps of guitar, but i only ever mixed hip hop. Now Oxykon (one of the nicest lads on the forum) can mix just about anything i reckon, And has opened my mind up to try new things, drum and bass is what jm messing with at the moment. I also have been doing some scratching over glitch, d&b and other stuff, it really helps learn new techniques practising at diff bpms. As far as playing gigs, i'd say if you are competent it shouldn't matter, a friend of mine in perth is getting heaps of gigs doing hip hop, dubstep and d&b. Ive hardly played any proper gigs, just parties and mates weddings, i am more interested at being happy with my own acomplishments. If someday the right person hears my stuff and says "shower him with money and gigs" than i will gladly become big time! Lol
  5. You stated in your intro thread that your fader has carked it, you can get a replacement for a bout 50 bucks online, but i would suggest another second hand mixer, i'm about to pick up a spare from a perth member for a great price. Maybe one of the melb lads has something?? Also i would recommend if you can access a laptop, put a playlist of instrumental beats on it and run it into the 2nd channel of ya mixer, theres heaps of great free beats to download on soundcloud, i can link you a few. Then scratch practise is a bit more interesting.
  6. I listened to this the other night, it is dopeness!!!!!

  17. It has sensationally been revealed today that the art of DJing is a massive scam that was dreamt up by turntable manufacturers as a way to offload unsellable turntables. The conspiracy is believed to go all the way to the top of the DJing industry with companies like Technics, Pioneer and Native Instrument pulling the strings on the biggest lie told to dance music fans since Steve Aoki was declared a world class DJ. “There’s actually no such thing as beatmatching, mixing, scratching or live sets,” claimed a source who insisted that accusations launched at commercial DJs are just the tip of the iceberg and that all DJs are actually recruited for their willingness to perpetuate the lie that DJing is a thing worth lauding. “The powerful DJing equipment lobby just manufactured an entire lexicon around playing records to make it seem like it was a legitimate form of art when in fact it’s just a dude playing someone else’s music.” The source claimed that all popular DJs are “in on it” and are paid handsomely to maintain the illusion that DJing is “both something difficult enough to warrant praise but easy enough that anyone can master it by simply buying the Technics or Native Instruments products”. “Essentially Technics and other turntable companies began to feel that they’d eventually be obsolete so in order to remain relevant and to sell turntables they started popularising the myth of the DJ by pouring millions into promoting DJ culture throughout the world all so that they could keep selling turntables,” continued the whistle blower. “All the tropes of DJing culture were manufactured as part of this huge marketing drive so that the big tech companies could sell out of date material that required less skill to master than traditional instruments,” continued the source who chose not to be named publicly. “They’re responsible for a massive propaganda drive that makes people like David Guetta and Avicii seem like heroes when in fact they’re nothing more than glorified Pioneer CDJ models.” The source concluded that turntable manufacturers are also believed to be responsible for “circulating the myth that vinyl sounds better than other formats, the inclusion of the sync button and Afrojack’s entire career thus far”.
  18. yum yum! all the good stuff right there! I think you and I will get on just fine love the lowrider poster too!
  19. Nice to have another hip hop head on the boards! Welcome I myself try to make beats, what do you use? You a vinyl man, dvs or cdjs? Post some pics in the setup thread.
  20. Def have this problem, some nights i'll have nothing flowing, cant find a decent sample to chop up and end up just banging away on the pads to no avail. But when im on a roll, drums are working etc, its always 2am and the reality of work in the morning stops me! Well, it should....
  21. Second level summer I am a fagget Lol
  22. Lol cupe. Any thoughts, criticisms? I know i faaked some of the transitions, and need to watch my gains, and coz i always do my sets off the cuff, the scratching is crap and unorganized, need to sit and make some dedicated scratch tracks instead of just randomly putting on a battle record. Should i be using eq'ing more? For example drop the bass on an incoming track etc? Bare in mind my mixer has high and low eq, no mid! Thanks guys.
  23. ! hour classic hip hop tracks mix Enjoy......... https://soundcloud.com/robrb20det/phase-productions-wrxit-sacp-mixtape-17052014
