  2. its just my gig planner
  3. much the same as has already been set i do most openings so my night is as follows get there 30mins+ before venue opens spend 5 minutes chatting to the security guys (always always a good idea) walk into venue drop my shit in booth and quickly switch everything on to make sure it turns on and nothing seems immediately out of the ordinary. spend 5 minutes chatting to the bar staff, sorting bottled water, mother/redbull and my drink cards (i generally dont drink during my set but love to hit it hard afterwards). Again, chatting tot he staff is a good idea as theyll be the one pouring you doubles at 1am. Checking the booth quickly first also allows you to contact the duty manager etc if your having any issues (missing equipment, house system isnt connected as it should be etc) straight off the bat, saves making you do extra trips once this is done, ill generally go to the bathroom quickly, then head back to the booth from here ill start playing some tracks, getting the speaker volume set up (field test-basically walk around the venue), check that all the speakers are working (occasionally they drop out and its much nicer to know in the beginning-security guard gets stationed under the speaker, everybody steers clear of him and nobody notices there is no sound coming out of that speaker. gets us through the night) ill generally start start my set with whatever song the bar staff is dying to hear (just been on their mind, in their head etc) and then move on from there if im rocking up after someone im there early (at least halfa) just to check vibe etc see how busy the club is, if its not a uni night ill guage the general demographic and drunkness of the crowd (sounds silly but sometimes you can start playing bangers at midnight to a still semi sober older crowd and just loose a floor instantly when 90's funk house remixes would have done just fine) when im in the booth i steer clear of the dj until about 10 minutes to my set time (ours arnt proper booths so they are loud as hell so not much talking takes place) ask him if hes had any issues, what the floor has been like, what sort of stuff he played earlier and basically if there is anything else i should know. when its tim eto set up i make sure he is free and clear into one cdj then set up all my stuff on the opposite side, check that usbs work etc (normally in a 3rd cdj incase something goes wrong and he has to mix another couple of tracks) and then when everything is working we take out his headphones put mine in and i officially have the floor.
  4. Why yes that is your mpd eggs Why yes that is a lazy boy on wheels Why yes that is a 50'' led tv behind my chair Why yes, this whole setup exists below my bed in my college dorm room And finally, why yes, it is an epic mancave Ps. Stairs for bed are leaning next to me Pps it's really hard to sell 'loft bed' to women. Enjoy

  8. you wait. best producer 2015 will be AlexJ
  9. my bet is either ultra lead up festival or lollapalooza given that part of bdo share was bought by sfx in 2012 we may even see an edc event given that they applied for zoning grants and what not for an event last year that got knocked back still, if the byron parklands redev ever gets finished that place would definately big enough to host a leg of tomorrowland with some added camping and limited parking. move the tents to the outskirts and refit stage areas with actual stages. would be HUUUUGEEEE
  10. No... 2nd i did see rumblings about it on the 1st but obvs dismissed it can confirm, received email from the dude i do promo ticket sales through. they wont be selling tix next year
  11. didnt the story break on April 1st tho?

  13. so who's car do we have to burn?
  14. he does exist
  15. seconded i run traktor as a backup in case my usb + sd cards fail (rarely ever going to happen + every now and then i like to search for something special) because ive used traktor over a number of years and i have alot of old stuff in there that would be to time consuming to convert for use on usb/ in serato most club dj's i see nowadays use serato as the crate system and hud is alittle better. both are usb plug and play unless you want to use vinyl. i would suggest serato
  16. dont do it man. dont start this debate. plenty of threads already bruz. go for a bit of a search through beginners, i know i have at least made a big thread on this
  17. ive used my usbs across alot of cdjs (can be playing across 10-12 different ones on any given week) and have definately found the sandisk ones to be the most reliable. the cheap models ive been buying lately ive found have had some corruption issues however i dont know how that persists in the higher end models. I have a shipment of usb's and sd cards coming in the next week or so so will report how i go with the higher end models but dont anticipate any real issues. on the note of usb 3.0 i have found that you can get compatibility issues across cdjs even when formatted correctly. especially with cdj's with older firmware (i think 4.19 and above are fine, however i have definately had issues with 4.18) i have also had some read issues when the cdj's are fully loaded cd's, usb, sd and computer link to serato. (for those interested i was closing for a dude who had serato linked to the cdjs (where his backup form of media was a mix cd that he had) i whacked in my cd card (my backup media) and then went to load my usb in (primary media source). Usb wouldnt load and then cdj crashed altogether. Obviously guy was on the other channel but it meant some mad scrambling to connect his left channel to a sl-1210 (which he couldnt use... so i could free up the cdj while another one was being fetched) moral to the story overloaded players can crash. usb 3.0 sometimes doesnt load and you get what you pay for
  18. yeah i had a look at the axioms and to be honest they looked awesome but from memory the 61 key model was outside the budget
  19. instruction unclear, dick caught in rotor
  20. whats a rotorcraft?
  21. Ok so ive been looking to do a slight upgrade on my studio keyboard for a while now (from a korg microkey) which is great for me to use on the go and dont mind occasionally setting up with the live club rig. However i feel now that im starting to do alot more producing i need a much larger (at least full size keyed-semi weighted etc) keyboard so i can achaly play some shit looked around abit and came across the alesis vi61. on the surface its a very sleek looking midi keyboard, has some pads, nobs, faders et which really extend the feature set it offers me in the studio. Dig alittle deeper and find out that it automaps to LIVE and massive (super big plus) as well as being semi weighted. Found one at my local and had a bit of a play, quite like the way it feels (not as nice as say a more upmarket roland midi keyboard but leaps and bounds in front of the normal midi keyboard plastic, even things like the mpk) I quite like the look, feel and feature set of it and the 61 key version (which is probably what im after really) comes in at 480 from store dj which is within my budget for said keyboard. Just wanted to gauge some thoughts on the whole thing from you all. have any other significant recommendations for under $500? must be 61 keys, must be semi (or full if you can find it) weighted, must have some pads/nobs/adjustable button assignment options and must not look like shite. on another note, i might have a mate willing to sell me a trigger finger pro on the cheap (~300 when is 500 new) i might be alittle exited. even though its probably unnecessary for my setup.
  22. are all the mixes chopped up from megamix?
  23. Pepper thy Angus
  24. But.. (considers making 10 new adjf accounts to all vote for 1ung as best dj) (its probably ok as long as they all click the site ads.jpg)
