welcome. but that post was painful to read

sorry lads im not going to be able to make it

just did this and i knew which one was the 128 5/6 times out of all 6 i either picked the lossless or 320 with an even 3 each. granted what ive seen alot of people do with these sort of tests is overboost the volume on the 128 to make it sound louder. most people can hear it and pick it automatically. 10/10 times when someone is in a club you can hear the 128kbs track against 320 as they try to boost the volume to match 320 levels (and then overboost where it cracks out) or its too quiet when you know fader is maxed. every dj should learn to gain by ear and not by level.

diplo himself said tho that he will put a few hours into a track hand it off to another artist to do some work and then come back with it to polish it off-seems like normal collab to me. that being said between diplo, major lazer, jack u and side projects the man puts out a fuck tonne of music. KSHMR has long been know to have ghost produced some of the biggest big room tracks out there. its also my understanding that he was paid off bigtime a while ago to keep his mouth shut as for the other big guns, no surprises. joachim ger. has long been supported by guetta (the man warmed up for him for years) so not super surprised

that was actually a mad watch was nice to see him affirm the use of hotcues and stuff to make things more interesting as thats something im all about! lol@technodjsmacktalk

just a note on your party as it seems you must be new i would advise working for any company if: their is no deposit arrangement in place to cover basic costs their fucking webpage is free yet they use stock quality images-evidence that they are just ripped straight from the net.

i use sd cards as mains but have a couple really high end usbs for on the go use (ie have to sync a whole bunch of stuff real fast or as a backup etc) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171651773942 ... EBIDX%3AIT these are pretty boss. some of the cheapest i found. i have a couple of each main genre type (house, cheese, bass, 128 club) that i play and 1 set for misc. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151177272790 ... EBIDX%3AIT these are my backup usbs. dont affix as solidly to cdjs as i maybe would have like and a quite conspicuous but fuck they transfer fast in terms of storage ive bought like 4 different sd card holders. overall this is the best one (general ease of use) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221526106049 ... EBIDX%3AIT however this one is waterproof http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331258862466 ... EBIDX%3AIT and this one is very low profile http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331234969212 ... EBIDX%3AIT

you need to give that vocal more room in the beginning. during that first mini build is perfect. but as soon as it drops i just feel like its alittle too muddy. love the concept tho

mix ~ sync = oxymoron I find your statement offensive ok i do agree there is a difference but not to a punter in the crowd and not one that can generally be determined using soundcloud. so i do standby my statement to a degree.

Im going to weigh in briefly here as I feel i have probably been to more u/18 events then all of you from both sides of the fence. 1) if you intend to make a profit on your event, pay your djs. Why? becasue they deserve exactly what you do. Doesnt matter if they're new, if your only doing your event for promo (ie spending every cent on making it awesome) then you can expect your djs to do the same. If thats what you intend to do (throw an awesome event) but suspect you'll make a profit given your set-up, expected sales, market research etc then tell that to your djs-they become invested in your event that way if it goes well they get paid. If things dont go well have an explanation why. kids just didnt show up isnt a reason. if your promo sucked or your venue wasnt big enough, small enough etc make sure you can give that as a reason to why the man isnt getting payed. The 'promo' is only valid if your event is successful and successful events have lots of people and make money. The fact that 'promo' is so hard to quantify makes things worse. If your event sucks then some young dj has spent hours preparing, practicing, travelling etc to rock up at your event to a set no one gives a damn about. now keep tell me how thats fair compensation... 2) U/18's dance events are built on the backs of hardworking residents who know how to play a crowd. Having a couple of newbies is fine give them the opening slots but if your expecting some dude with the perfect ableton mixtape to show up and play the headlining set of cdj 2000's. your dreamin. best way to kill an event? have a shit headliner. Any weekend warrior could tell you that. 3) top 40 sells tickets. Dont just look for djs who can mix the latest house. every dj can mix house, it requires a laptop and a sync button. If they cant mix lmfao into lil john. beyonce into kanye dont even bother. Kids come to party-because they know the headliner, their friends are going etc. they STAY because they know the music. They're teeny boppers. they've never been into a good club grooved to techno or lost their mind to a filthy dubstep/trap/electro drop. Most are just kids. Be clear on what your looking for. youll cut out alot of the BS. for you and for the people you are trying to hire. u/18s are the epitome of commercial, treating it like anything else is a mistake I say these things because ive been the dj that played for promo at an event no one showed up too. Ive run an event that made capacity when presale wasnt even close to selling out. Dont make the mistake of thinking your people dont know whats going on as there is every chance they will turn around and sue you for breach of contract/misrepresentation/ any number of other hurdles that comes with having temp dj staff. hope it goes well. im up in newcastle if your looking to hire a seasoned top 40 commercial resident dj.

Obviously not a big house dj but ive picked up a couple of fill in sets. while i have enough music to get by i would really like to add to the collection, i know ive got a stack of stuff from rotorcraft but still want to know beatport house is now for to big room (i can play that stuff at like midnight in the main room...) where do you peeps get it?

there is so much stuff i would like to acquire on vinyl (predominately older trance records) but i feel like the shipping is really going to kill me

Are you dragging a playlist straight from rekordbox to traktor or exporting the playlist? selecting songs in playlist then drag and drop to new playlist in traktor
-
I take 4 USB's, 2 SD Cards, my computer (which i do the same thing as labrat except mine gets set up for every set just in case) and have 2 cds which contain a mix each for super emergency backup. I generally update the usbs as needed and the sd cards once a month. rekordbox playlists drag easily into traktor so no real issues there. i never link cdj's unless i have to as the ethernet ports go more often than the cue buttons i know it sounds psycho but dead silence in a club is really the worst feeling in the world and ive seen a couple of guys like myself fired for such things. the only thing i cant cater for is a power outage however i know the clubs i play in have a backup generator with about a 15 second kick on that the cdjs and monitor speakers are connected to. worst case scenario the lights go out and i can turn monitors around while everything resets but im pretty sure the new fire codes in nsw state everyone has to keave the venue in event of power outage
