Now to actually be helpful I know there is plans available for uni students. The gov offered ones are only small (about 3-400 in assistance) What you should go after is one of the many many laptop scholarships offered in conjuction with the military and uni, gov jobs and uni, community groups and uni. Im not even joking. I was at newcastle uni yesterday and must have seen 3 or 4 info signs for laptop scholarships while i was in the physics department alone.

both will use similar tractor software. DDJ comes with specific software calibrated for the unit. Should load onto any duel core comp with ease

when i started (and even now) the effects seemed so over my head i didnt even bother with them. I just count my beats to try and put the track in exactly the right spot every time. maybe im doing things the hard way? Nope doing it the right way, far too many djs over do the effects. I only just started using the occasional filter now it's really not needed at all, better off focusing on harmonic mixing and picking the best spots for transitions counting your bars etc must have watched like 1000 'how to dj' videos (including z2h hahahahaha) none of them ever really had controllers, and they always adviced to learn on 'basic equipment' ide djm 400/cdj 400's etc in which they didnt really use effects. so i never did.

djm 600/700? but ur right, djm 400 is probably the go. u could pick 1 up new for that price, or buy a reasonable one second hand and save some cash. Put it towards a soundcard or something if u want to use pc 4 sets.

there is no limit to the acapellas/samples you can use. Anything that would be identifyable to the layman. for this reason i dont think the popular edm quite counts, as ive mentioned bombs numerous times to my mates and they've never heard of them, where as everybody has heard of katy perry.
