Days of 2014 – 4. Days of deadmau5 creating drama- 2. That’s right, everyone’s favorite shit talker, deadmau5, aka Joel Simmerdownman, is batting .500 when it comes to having beef on Twitter in the new year. It all started with Porter Robinson tweeting something positive about Story, a nightclub in Miami. A fan, Ashley Candela, brought the ‘mau5 into the feed, and then, well, you know… Source: magneticmag.com

Welcome to the new homebase of all future Knife Party and Pendulum productions. The recently renovated space by Munro Acoustics is now the official studio of Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen. After posting the photos last night on Twitter, numerous DJs expressed their awe and penis envy over the duo’s new digs. Not yet loaded with their studio gear, the space still trumps the shitty IKEA desks most bedroom producer’s call their “studio.” While 2013 may have been a bit quiet (by Knife Party standards) for the pair, 2014 — with a new Pendulum album, new studio, and new outlook — will likely create another paradigm shift in the production outfit’s studio lifecycle. After months of harbouring one of 2013’s most highly acclaimed albums, Daft Punk looks geared to finally give Random Access Memories a formal live premiere. Having made waves back in December with the announcement that the French duo would feature and perform during the 56th annual Grammy Award Show, the robots swing back into the spotlight with the announcement that they will be joined a star-studded host of A-list artists. Legendary R&B crooner Stevie Wonder tops the bill, with RAM featured artists Pharell and Nile Rogers joining the album’s session players Chris Caswell, Nathan East, Omar Hakim and Paul Jackson Jr. Beyond what is set to be an unforgettable premiere, Daft Punk are up for five awards this year: Record of the Year for “Get Lucky,” Album of the Year for Random Access Memories, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Get Lucky” with Pharrell Williams, Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical), and Best Dance/Electronica Album. The 56th annual Grammy Awards ceremony will air on January 26th. Source: dancingastronaut.com

Pete Tong becomes MBE, services to music broadcasting honoured and ‘great tunes’ obliged When the stock phrase ‘It’s all gone Pete Tong’ first came into earshot, few could have anticipated it would reach the ranks of British Empire. Nevertheless, the 53-year old BBC veteran became an official Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to music Broadcasting. Already boasting more notches to his belt than any other dance music broadcaster and a firm hold on the BBC’s expanding vision for dance music, the award comes at the passing of one of the British radio veteran’s most prolific years to date. Now based in LA and balancing his weekly Friday night slot for Radio One with his All Gone Pete Tong and Evolution with Pete Tong concepts on the North America airwaves, Pete celebrated 20-years of his pivotal Essential Mix series earlier in 2013. Tong commented: “I’d like to thank all the club promoters in the UK and around the world for their passion and commitment to putting on amazing events and the artists producers and DJs that have been making and innovating with the music. This wouldn’t have happened without so many great tunes.” Pete joins the ranks of British peer and pioneering DJ/producer Norman Jay, who was awarded the honor back in 2002. The honor is typically awarded to commemorate achievements or services in a community that make a real impact and sets an example for others. Source: dancingastronaut.com

big difference in sound, yeh probably but stil don't understand what you mean by big difference. you load track to deck. you pick needle up and put it to start of the record (or wherever on the record you want to cue from), then you hold down vinyl and release pretty sure it was the same with normal records? except for having to swap records. and if you want that experience just pick the option to change track when you flip sides Yeah I guess I was referring to the groove points like what Russell was saying, I find I look at the screen too much rather than go off knowing the track
-
It's a good skill to have for sure, but like russell said if your using control vinyl then it's really not the same, i would say go for it and learn anyway but you will notice a big difference between the real thing and the A6

Sup Y'all Im sending out an SOS call to the ADJF Massive, this New Year's I'm DJ'n at a friends party and i feel I'm coming up empty on a track list, besides me there are at least another 6-8 people DJ'n the night, he's asked if i could start out the night with a hip hop set, when i caught up with him the other day he was saying that at least 3-4 DJ's have dropped out or can't get their shit together in time so he might need me and a couple others to step up and do a couple more sets throughout the night. My friend and his group are the hip hop ish breakbeat kind of people, y'all know me, when it comes to DnB n shit i got that sorted, but i don't have the best of hip hop selections or breakbeat (even electro could help), I'm wondering if anyone knows of some sick as tunes that would get the party really pumping, help a fellow member out and throw some ideas this way, I'm sure I'm not the only 1 of us that'll be DJ'n this New Year's so this thread could help a lot more peeps than just me Thanks
