Yeah cool, well I'm def keen on this collection, you do have a lot of really good classics there, I don't think id be able to get the money together for a couple months, if you have someone else interested before then I totally understand, unfortunately for me I can't afford to do any more senseless spending for a while, Yeah where abouts are you situated, kalamunda? Gooseberry hill?, I'm more closer to the lesmurdie side of things

Yeah I spent this morning going through much of that list on YouTube, you have me very interested, where abouts are you in the hills, I'm in the kalamunda area, do you have a set date where you gotta sell these buy? I'm a little money tight at the moment (traveling to Melbourne in March), but I am VERY tempted at this collection

Sasha: “EDM Is Made By Douchebags For Douchebags”
OxyKon replied to yizzle's topic in DJ Headquarters
I reckon his just pissed for being bumped out, on the other hand when I think of douchebag I think of deadmau5, and I don't think I know any of Sasha's tunes -
When were you getting your tickets

You may end up breaking your liver like I did last year, or worse

I was just talking to a guy at work who is from Melbourne and he was saying that staying in the docklands area is the way to go, can any Melbourne locals confirm this?

deadmau5' Soundcloud is still there, the sounds just aren't
OxyKon posted a topic in DJ Headquarters
Screen Shot Of deadmau5′ Soundcloud page on January 12th 2014 The internet almost broke yesterday when word was spreading across EDM culture blogs that Joel Zimmerman, aka deadmau5, had deleted his ‘fuckmylife’ Soundcloud account. Zimmerman tweeted “RIP http://soundcloud.com/fuckmylife … wow, 33 million plays on that… it was a good run!”. Fans reportedly received an “Oh No. Sorry, we can’t find that user” message when they attempted to visit his page. Today however, the page was back up. There were no sounds available to the public, but fans could still follow deadmau5 on Soundcloud. Links to his other social media sites where also visible. At this moment, Zimmerman has over 433,000 Soundcloud followers. In late 2013 deadmau5 launched what he described as a “suckscription” service, where fans could pay a monthly/yearly fee to gain access to exclusive music, content, and opportunities to chat with Zimmerman himself. There’s no word on why his Soundcloud account is back sans sounds, and if the ‘suckscription’ service had anything to do with the initial deletion. We can only assume that 433k followers and 33 million plays is too much social media capital to just throw away. This is not deadmau5′ first social media yo-yo. In November of last year he handed control his infamous Twitter account over to his management, only to take it back in December to attack a promoter and ticket prices. He has since been in at least two additional ‘Twitter fueds’. Source: magneticmag.com -
Beat scene champion Flying Lotus has added yet another film score to his belt. Previously FlyLo provided music for the relatively unknown films ‘Oversimplification of her Beauty’ and ‘Wildcat’, but this time the film he scored,’Imperial Dreams’, will be featured at the renowned Sundance Film Festival in Utah. The film follows an ex-convict searching for his son after being released from incarceration. After scoring films, theme songs for TV Shows (Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Adventure time), and creating his own radio station for GTA V, it will definitely be interesting to see what FlyLo’s next foray into collaborative media will be. The brain child of Jimmy Iovine, Trent Reznor, Ian Rogers, Luke Wood and Dr. Dre, Beats Music is the latest entrant into the streaming music business. An offshoot of the industry-defining Beats by Dre, the new kid on the music distribution block prides itself on bringing a better brain to the discovery process. A suggestion engine and tastemakers’ toolbox, Beats Music outshines its competition by being more than just an algorithm, and instead leverages a bevy of tastemaking partners to inform its engine. Iovine tells the NY Times, “What song comes next, is as important as what song is playing now” — a comment that may as well be a mantra for the platform. With the current digital landscape awash in music and the sheer amount proving daunting for an average listener, Beats seeks to eliminate those issues by providing a smartly curated platform from its partners across the music industry. As part of its music first ideology, Beats’ model does not mimic its competitors and will not have a free tier: This subscription-based model allows for a higher royalty payout for artists through the service. Perhaps the most exciting piece of the Beats puzzle is Trent Reznor’s involvement as the chief creative officer who’s primary goal is to crack the code of streaming music. “My phone knows where I’m at, what I’m up to, what temperature it is,” Reznor told the NY Times; “It might even start to recognize locations I visit, patterns of motion. What if music could be collected in little parcels and served up to me effortlessly?” While not fully realized, a byproduct of Reznor’s vision can be seen in the Right Now feature, a function that allows users to input four variables; a place, an activity, a person and a genre in order to receive a custom-curated playlist based on their choices. The greatest hurdle the service faces is the need to separate itself from its numerous competitors, namely Spotify and iTunes Radio, a challenge that Iovine and company are attacking head on with a massive marketing push. A Superbowl ad, Ellen Degeneres plug and an AT&T subscription plan for mobile users will all bring the Beats Music brand in front of the slowest adopters of digital music; the parents of the millennial generation. For its launch Beats Music will only be available in the United States, but with its sights set on Spotify, the Sweden-based company that was formed in 2008 and is now in 55 markets around the world, the streaming platform by the music industry, for the music industry, may be Iovine’s biggest success yet. Beats Music launches in the US on January 21st. Source: dancingastronaut.com

Dance music’s vibrant outfit of in-your-face fun known as Major Lazer pay testament to the word “party” each time they play live. Behind the scenes, however, the group’s uncanny energy and creativity is reflected in their studio releases, last packaged in album form through Free The Universe. With Diplo and his Mad Decent imprint at the helm, Major Lazer often release non-album work with Lazers Strikes Back — a series which is now concluding with its sixth installment. The collection features edits from the aforementioned April album, slowed-down versions as unique as the originals. The finale of Lazers Strike Back features Free The Universe dub from Mungo and So Shifty, who alter the tempo on tracks such as “Bumaye,” “Jah No Partial,” and “Get Free,” to name a few. https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/mash-up-the-dance-mungos-hi-fi https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/bumaye-mungos-moombahton-mix https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/watch-out-fi-ska-mungos-hi-fi https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/sweat-mungos-honky-mix https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/sweat-mungos-garage-dub https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/smooth-sailing-ft-mr-williamz https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/get-free-mungos-hi-fi-refix https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/reach-for-the-stars-so-shifty https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/playground-so-shifty-dub https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/jah-no-partial-so-shifty-dub https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/keep-cool-so-shifty-dub Source: dancingastronaut.com

Music fans across the globe were hovering around their computers at 10 AM PST this morning to get tickets to Coachella, a three day long, dual weekend music festival taking place April 11th – 13th and April 18th-20th in Indio, CA. The festival, headlined by OutKast, Muse, and Arcade Fire, sold out in less than three hours. The capacity is approximately 75,000 per day. The initial demand for tickets caused some hiccups on Coachella.com, with some would be ticket buyers taking to Twitter, comparing it in one instance to the Federal Government’s bug ridden health care sign up site. Coachella announced their 2014 lineup on Wednesday, January 8th. Source: magneticmag.com
