hey man, australia really is a long way away. have you tried getting on at any of the croation festivals such as outlook? or maybe build up your rep by gigging rotterdam, amsterdam, berlin etc? I'm in the U.K. and could ask around here if you want to stay closer to europe for now?

Just my opinion but I totally disagree. The whole point of djing is that you choose the tech that suits you and then make the sounds you like. My mixes are scruffy and have issues because i do everything live. I like that, it adds to the energy and you can tell I'm really involved. On a recording it may not come across as brilliant after a few listens but live it always rocks. Ableton/synced mixes all the sound the same to me, they all have that tinny time-warping sound and have no energy other than that the songs give to it so may as well be playlists to me. It's just my opinion of course but i loved the idea of this comp because i thought it would give a clearer indication of what people really like to listen to regardless of tech. i.e. if some vinyl head discovers he's voted for all ableton mixes without realising then maybe there is a lesson to be learnt in that? and vice versa. I would say feel free to post what kit you've used but i dont think a handicap is necessary. I would automatically score someone lower if i can hear time-warping... not coz i think it's cheating, i just dont like how it sounds or feels. If it sounds good it is good, vote accordingly.

this is the link to the article on midi mapping an extra controller to itch. it doesnt actually let you midi map unused buttons on your exisiting controller but opens the door to more control via mapping midi buttons on a seperate controller to hotkey functions. http://www.djtechtools.com/2010/06/18/u ... with-itch/

ez mate, I know this thread has followed the path of cdjs but if you are still considering a controller chk this: have you seen this thread about the NUMARK NS6 controller? http://www.ausdjforums.com/modules.php? ... pic&t=6280 I have one of these and am well happy with it. MY history so you know I'm no child: Started in vinyl 1989, moved to cdjs 1997, added traktor to CDJs 2004. Gigged clubs, bars, functions and on tour with live bands... beatmatching and always done cuts as well as basic transforms/juggles but am not turntablist. Was waiting for a lightweight controller to be invented for years so I could reduce weight of kit but not alter style of djing. watch the vid by cerla: So Cerlas vid is great but just so you know you dont have to be superhuman to work a NS6 here's the draft so far for my entry in capfives comp. There's some scruffy mixes and some real dodgy bits (especially the intro, it's only a draft) but hopefully you'll get the idea of how the NS6 works on four decks and how it sounds. Jim adjf comp 3 by more foolish and here's a short vid I did when I first got it. again it's scruffy but you can see exactly what's going on. it's a srs option mate.

Most fun to mix style of electronic music for DJ's ?

anything that crosses genres for me. If i sit in one genre I cant help feeling it's all been made specifically to fit together and it's too easy for me to be lazy. Plus it bores me. Back in the day (which was 1989-1992 for me) we didnt have subdivisions of dance music, there was more of an attitude of "anything goes". That's how i started and that's the way i still like it. -
personally i firmly believe that if something aint broke i dont need to fix it. I will watch forums and keep an eye on any compatability issues with all my software and hardware with the new OS but I wont be installing anything until i'm positive it is going to be trouble-free and give me benefits i will actually use. But good on you all you brave 1st consumer testers... I've done my fair share of that and beta testing but not with the kit I use to earn money.

-is true, but not for switching between timecode and real cds as sol asked as it has only one pair of line in inputs.
-
^this.... plus once you're a good DJ the lighting, cosmetics and airbrushing can make you look like all the other high maintenance pixels in the media anyway. If that's what you (or your manager) want. or just keep on mixing hoddi, keep it real.

ez good to have you on board mate we're all happy word of that comp has reached so far. please feel free to spread the news further.

haha, thats the one. My mates visited uk where i live to learn some english and only learnt bad words from me, so only taught me that one. they said it was pretty bad too. kunterbunt = colourful. excellent. sorry to lower the tone with fot...
-
just noticed sol: the xone 22 has only 2 line inputs so no you will not be able to have timecode or cds. the other two inputs are phono only. ^Ill has good choice. plenty of line ins and an option for your ipod.

I just did same thing from pc to mac about 4 weeks ago, have an i5 refurb too so swap tips back if you get any ey? dont know if you use itunes on pc but this really helped me transfer everything from pc itunes to mac (including playlists and comments etc) http://lifehacker.com/242468/geek-to-li ... c-and-back also for audio: you can plug and play but for guaranteed live stability disable - time machine, bluetooth, dashboard, remote control and when actually playing turn off airport. everything else will be done in whatevr software you use. one tip i like: coz i'm a big fan of having a right button on my pc mouse i set the bottom left hand corner of my mac trackpad to act as a right button. go to system preferences/trackpad and set secondary click to be bottom right corner.

ez absolutely kunterbunt sounds like WHALE haha. or votzer? i have friends in bremen and dusseldorf who taught me this word "votzer" not sure if i spelled it right. you're english is much better than my german. welcommen.

safe, just spoke in chat, s'all good.

agreed. b4 any beatcounters were invented I used to label all tracks with their bpm by manually counting beats while timing 10 seconds, multiply this by 6 = BPM. a real ball-ache but so useful. Whenever i was looking for a tune but knew i needed a beatmatched mix for the floor I could look at the label I had put on a vinyl cover and see if they could feasibly match b4 even pulling the vinyl out of the sleeve. NOwadays I sort all playlists by the bpm column so I can see str8 away which tunes are within range of a beatmatch. I dont alwyas choose to match and may do tracks to change tempo instead but its still really useful to have all the original tempos noted.
