  1. Set it up monday morning to see if I could try that idea with the NI8. it worked fine. In other words: have you turned it off and on again? First time that's happened to me on a mac. 'kin lol.
  2. Fair nuff. Dont know what version of dvs you have but on tsp i could save all settings as a . Tsi by using export from near bottom of pref pane. Then each time you reboot you import same .tsi and should get some luck. Also pc's can get confused depending on what order you do thimgs in. I used to boot pc. Wait. Insert ni8 usb. Wait. Boot traktor. Wait. Import settings. Fingers crossed. I still gigged with it for 2 years but! Hope it gets easier for you mate. Cant chk for new threads, on phone, family lie in sat morn:)
  3. Fuk dvs boss. Just switch yer mixer channel selectors back to phono. Dig out yer fav old skool vinyl and freestyle it? Traktor can wait 30 mins cant it?
  4. aye. today I get probably the most up to date track I've posted in this thread coz my bro bought me this album for chrimble... Nice bit of poppy reggae with modern production values by a righteous female vocalist featuring a dope chat by horseman. I like it, the Mrs likes it, the afternoon chill sessions like it. Especially loving the bubbling riddim guitar. What's not to like ?
  5. Yer. Thats the problem. In scratch pro it isnt available as an audio source! I just keep getting msg- pls connect ni8! But i know its working fine in traktor le. I'm gonna try connecting the Ni8 just so i can disable it and unconnect, but not right now, on way to work on phone.
  6. I just got another Mixtrack Pro with Traktor 2.0 LE for a project I'm gonna be working on. I installed on my mac this time and all is fine, working normally. Then i thought: hang on I have traktor scratch pro on my mac, why not use the controller on that better software and have the option to record when I need it? But My traktor scratch pro wont even recognise the mixtrack. I've used the wizard, turned it off and on again, checked for updates etc. In my preferences pane my traktor keeps thinking I need to connect my NI8 and when I try to choose an alternative audio source in the drop down menu it doesnt even show the mixtrack. Even though the LE version is happy to recognise it. Any ideas?
  7. scratch that^ just noticed in their forum that the 2.1 release is exactly the same as the beta(40) minus the start-up warning screen. so if you were up to date with the betas you already have 2.1. saves me from watching a download progress bar, still propz to mitch.
  8. Bloody hell. They've got some balls. Their own beta forum is still reporting heaps of bugs. Then again many do sound like user errors. I'm mad bz rest of this week but hope to get on this sun eve. Skillz mitch.
  9. nar, would have come sexy second if i had but why fuzz, i voted for who i thought deserved. which is mad coz normally i dont vote for shit... bloody hell, this might actually mean something to me. facepalm.jpg
  10. some i know nothing about so have to abstain. eg producers coz I havent had time to listen to any individual tracks. otherwise yep.
  11. ^right on source, plus: this is really going the extra mile. Sol you are a lucky sod to know folk like this, listen and learn mate.
  12. chk fuses first, they are easier normally
  13. fuses is way easier to fix but blown fuses = no sound, farting normally = tear in the cone. Even though people have fixed them with tape they are not actually easy to fix as you have to get the cone out first. And if they were good speakers you may want to do more than use selloptape. Like replace them. Sorry to mislead you bro.
  14. haha fred. welcome to DVS Cupe
  15. ^lol, there was as much variety in "stack" systems as there is in laptops these days. i.e. some were amazing, some were useless. Some are still sought after and considered exceptional sound quality today. trust me, mine was shite p.s. the speaker design is so old that you may be able to get them replaced/repaired. I even heard of people repairing them with selloptape, depending on the model they may be paper cones, seriously. Deserves a bit of research on google for your dads sake?
  16. raarrrrrrr, said the dinosaur: Age 7 (1980) I Actually started by using a tape deck and a tascam porta04 cassette based portable 4-track recording machine just to dub tapes out of my fav tracks recorded from radio. Once I'd heard of hiphop (age 13) in about 1986 I got one of these: bought second hand from a charity shop. (note pitch control is like a walkman vol and it is belt-drive) and next to it was something like this but a lot cheaper, smaller and shitter: in the old days these were called "stack" systems and were cheap plastic crap with a turntable on top of an amp, cassette deck, amp and tuner (this was pre-CD kids!) No pitch control at all. then for a mixer I had two faders I bought from an electronics shop. The wires from both decks each went to an assigned fader before the speaker so not real control and no cross fader. I didnt even fix the faders to anything so it took two hands to actually fade: one to hold the fader unit the other to actually fade. When I was 17 I got my first gigs in a club using their gear but it still took 3 years saving up before I could buy my own 1210mkIIs. I still have the same babies now, plus some other stuff True story whales.
  17. young mums have their hands full, they still have to make a living. in many industries top employers only rate people with families as they show they can manage to keep both their families and their business heads together. DJing isnt normally one of those industries but agency/wedding planning/event management often is. I guess I'm saying that just coz she works from home and has a child doesnt mean shit. As I already said: she could be new to the job and trying her best, she could be an old hand and wanting to take advantage of your cheap rates, or she could be a fool. Do the simple local gig, get to know her and how well she takes care of her side of things. Then judge. But yer - if all the other mobiles on here say you are cheap I have to agree with them. You are experienced and have rep/word of mouth to back up your skills now. I would re-consider your price. Remember, people who have had you cheap will be telling their mates so they may still be booking you coz of your cheap price. That doesnt mean you cant advertise at a higher price to see if people go for it. You could always do two ads from two dif names with dif prices etc. This way you maintain your current business and rep but also start a new one doing the same thing but for more money. Trust me: some people will go for the higher price simply cos they'll feel something too cheap is too good to be true. And if they dont what has it cost you? a few flyers and shit to try it out? Or if you're really worried about putting people off perhaps have a higher price with a note on your ads saying : "I am negotiable and will do my best to make your event the best" or sumthin. p.s. edit your phone number of the forum post above mate.
  18. ^fuck you're trollin bad at the moment andrew. Sol has had a business communication concerning the industry he is actually making a career in. He is asking the people he trusts most (that's us lot) for any information they can give him to best arrive at his own conclusion. I admit he has his own way of doing this but for fucks sake: if you dont like a thread why post in it? I also dont think reading old threads will help arrive at a price as this kind of work is entirely different and involves heaps more costs. Although old threads will show that sol is pricing too low generally. Sol: another reason she may have called you and sounds sus could be due to your prices being so low. She may think you are a chump she can make a quick buck out of. Go steady with her, it could be a good contact, but as already said: research your prices and quote accordingly. I cant help on that as you know as we have different currency and pricing structure.
  19. And obv chk that flights, accomodation, food and a little pocket money or "per day" expense allowance is included and of a reasonable standard. Tbh it's poss that this isnt a scam, just someone starting in the business who doesnt know any better. But yer- sort your prices, chk other firms and your old threads. You're not a noob anymore sol, price yourself accordingly.
  20. Thinking about it- there must be auto loops on that mixer so my previous comments about sampling on the fly could be wrong. If you use quantized music that mixer will prob have method to sample perfectly for you. Chk your manual?
  21. i'm so late on this one but... ez
