Dj school. Good investment or waste of money?
tommykesh replied to MelodyIlliterate's topic in DJ Headquarters
If you already know how music works and you understand the concept behind mixing then you may not get to much out of mix school. I think your better off renting some equipment. Then if you know any one else who mixs and has a bit of exp then get em to come round. In less then an hour you will probably have had better practical exp then a hole day spent in class where the teachers time is divided up amongst every one else there. -

Got my P's!! "So who wants to die first ?"

Pretty solid mix's smooth transitions and fades. That Zeds Dead Remix was stuck in my head for a good chunk of last week, good track. Really good work for some one who claims to be "mixing with trends"

welcome to um... Here or some thing

Tommy Kesh's The Phantom Mamoth (Banging Hard Trance)
tommykesh replied to tommykesh's topic in Trance & Progressive
That music for me has more memories and emotional attachment to the big tracks more then any thing else. I'm happy to hear that some one else gets the same sorta rush I get hearing them. For the sake of my tracks I'm probably going to have to keep a bib handy if I ever run into you. -
Hard Trance I did bout 2 years ago I think. Thought it was lost to the ages when my old hard drive shit it's self until last night when I stumbled upon a copy of it at a mates. Tracks include Acid Flash by Asys (both sides of the record),Los Mertos and Murder Was The Bass. I put a fair bit of effort into this one so I promise I won't Indian give this mix. Don't think to many people are into this stuff now days but hey I Rikey very much. Ps couldn't fit all Transition times on comment bar so I doubled up on some the time is still labeled. http://soundcloud.com/tommykesh/tommy-kesh-the-phantom-mammoth

Make sure u check it for un expected bugs 1st. Foolish has new hardware but every one else check compatabilty. Why you ask ? Serato new verstion of scratch live don't work on sl1 box's found that out the hard way before a jam in the bush (bring my then spanking new 68 to what was a messy ass week end no way! thank god I had old software installers at the ready. Let us know how it goes foolish
-
I a Rane 68 and yer it's the shit but I am starting to notice a few flaws which make me consider buying a pioneer as well. I still plan on using Serato as a have an SL box as a back up, and for the odd gig. Before a fork out a few more grand for another toy I wanna know your guys thoughts on the for mentioned mixers. What are the pro's and cons ? In the threshold of the band control (eg volume from 9 to 12 oclock on the mids highs and lows) Fx's and ease of external fx installation, faders sound quality ect ect I will start with : I'm starting to notice flaws for one 68 EQ'ing is a bit tricky as the lights aint always tru to the sound levels (before you start I'm well aware of using your head phones 1st).
-
Thanks Spit all taken all tru got my mental note pad out and taking it down.
-
Got that right
-
Thanks for the positive feed back but down to the nitty gritty. Wanna know if you think the track selection through out the mix was to rigid sounding ? If you where on the dance floor what parts would wanna make you leave ? What things you would do to improve ? Don't be afraid to speak your mind and don't hold back on your opinion.
-
I was told your mix's where worth checking out and fuck this one sure was. The 1st two transitions set me up two hear a great mix in all the following departments : Consistently smooth in your song choice and your sequencing which is all top notch. Blending the eq's with dub aint easy but you show you have a really good grasp of it.Hearing it was a good learning tool thanks man. Good work im gonna be sure to check out more of your stuff Spit.

Sorry my bad it's called Sweet talk by Reija Lee and Kito I got both the one on the mix and the other one in the same dubstep chart pack. When i was righting the track list tonight (waited) I was looking at the wrong song in my serato crate. And yes your right it is shit, and what was it doing in there ? I know what you think of my organizational skills what u think of the mix ?
