Every ones desired sound levels are different and if that's how you hear the song in your head then $279 is better then a steal.

Around the 8 min marc when that slum dog track comes in does the tempo shift in the version you have or did you rerub it before hand ? All in all your mix is like my room after a meth binge TIDY

I was just digging through my record collection....
tommykesh replied to tommykesh's topic in DJ Headquarters
So I guess I better start it off KADOC - "The Night Train Positva label, original press. Heard when I was a little kid not a huge fan then but once the world of Electronic Dance Music pried my eyes open (early 20's)..... Mad respect and although it aint "The White Album" it's still pretty ground braking. Thankful my man "6 eyes" unloaded on me a week after my 1st mix -
Every one with a record collection has had a dig through at some point, stopped and had to take a second look at the record in their hand. It might be because it's a Classic or interesting sounding and there might even be a attached story. Share with us what it is and why.

This is what ADJF's comp section needs. Video Mix's nice work (Cough cough Cupe) . Although I did'ent dig every song in their the last one was fucking sic ! The Transitions where pretty smooth and in points mad skill full with the fx. It was in no way like you where an " Automated Cross Fader" Impressive the most enjoyable 9:51 seconds I have spent looking at video today (porn aside) Thanks

Um no, you connect the CDJ's to the Serato Box, not the computer
-
Sorry Wazza. Had the same probs with a mates S4 Wazzas advice should fix it. If it don't get a new computer
-
Seratos pitch control is a little more finiky then traktor, Serato's crate mangment is WAY WAY WAY easier to look through and organise then traktors system, which I found to be counter intiuative no sub crates, and having to use explorer to get to your shit, makes the diff between a long mix and a short hollow thing.

Foolish this is with outa doubt the most thought provoking thing I have seen on ADJF bravo bravo For nearly as long as I could remember I was un happy and completely unstable. My child hood and teen age years where pretty hard to deal with. I'm not going to go into the details gaining attention through pitty is some thing I can't stand. During a particularly low I began to explore my creative side and instantly a wave of relief washed away most of the hurt, anger and frustration bolted up inside me. It was about this time I began listening to electronic music, Hard Trance Cosmic Gate in particular this opened up all this positive emotion and energy I had never really felt before. With in a year I bought my first set of Turntables (CDJ'S where still in the infancy and yet to become the norm). The 1st mix I attempted was Walt & Feliz - Funk'd and Alex Fakey - Painted Black. A good friend who acted as my training wheels had little to do mixer wise as my sub conscious 4/4vclock took over. A few parts of my brain click into place that day and changed me forever. Where I wanna take ? It would be nice to reach the big stage but I don't think thats for me all I really want is to get as good as I can, not so I can say I'm better then others but for this little talent I have been known to quote the" better I get the more fun I have and the more fun I have the happier I am the happier Im the better my life seems to be". Thoughts on the adds lure to kidys into becoming superstar DJ's . It seems like every body is having a crack at it these days the technology is making it more accessible and although you can do allot more with it kids these days are can skip learning the of the fundamentals. It also seems that a huge chunk of people are doing it for the wrong reasons ie image "Look at me I'm a DJ" where is it should be "LISTEN TO ME I'M A DJ" I do like to slip it in from time to time it is cool and lets face it we are all pretty proud of what we do but it shouldent make up for being shallow. Right all this talk of mixing making me wanna do just that so I would like to finish with "Your mother your mother your mums a WHALE she smokes on the pole like I smoke a phily blunt"

s1 decent choice. Now you have some equipment. Don't be like many 1st timers and give up because it gets to hard. Just remember MelodyIlliterate if it gets frustrating and it turns to shit don't let it stop you preserve and in not to long your mix will be a reward that you cant put a $ to. -

I'm always keen to show people the ropes but I'm Sydney based there's a few boys on the site that are based up there I'm sure feel the same way. However as far as equipment goes I have used a large aray of diffrent set ups I'm always going to shops trying or renting stuff, bowering mates stuff It's a hobby with in a hobby . Traktor/ Serato Turntables/CDJS Mixers and Fx units. So if you can bare with me heres a few Q's that may help get an idea of what will suit you What sorta music do you wanna play and what mixing style do you perfer (eg long blends, cutting in and out and loops and cue juggling) ? Do you want to learn how to beat match properly (beat counters lie and sync buttons don't like some styles) ? Budget ? Use (just at home, mobile DJing or Club work) ?
