Jarrah posted a topic in Amps & Speakers
I just got a pair of Yamaha HS 50m studio monitors I have been connecting them straight into my mixer for mixes but would love to know what cables I might need to connect to my macbook pro for general listening. What can I do? Thanks a lot! -

I have been using the laptop keyboard in the mean time and you are right it isn't the same !

Cheers guys I think I'm going for the ultra nova for now, good price and I had a play with it and it does work as a great midi controller for ableton ! Thanks !
-
Oh okay so I may as well get a launchpad ! I'm still not sure which keys I will get this ultra nova for $350 seems tempting but I really don't know if it is a good controller! Thanks again for the replies, pads seem to be very popular for producing, I will look into the MPC's later down the track
-
BY THE WAY! The only reason I keep referring to the ultra nova is because my friend is quitting producing to travel and is willing to give me his (mint condition) for $350... He loved it!
-
Thanks for all the replies guys ! I assume the launchpad is very overrated... and the ultra nova as well ? Looking towards the edirol keyboards and the novation remote SL's The sonic cell looks really cool as well, Again, thank you for all the wonderful replies
-
Thanks Russell, I will look at those now ! Are the Akai series compatible with Ableton ? And how does the ultra nova compare to the remote SL?
-
Hey, I am fairly new to producing with Ableton, and just understanding the basics of the program. Now all I need is a controller of some sort ! I have played piano for 11 years and would really enjoy some keys in addition to the novation launchpad ? What do you all recommend!? I am looking to spend around $1000 for now but would rather less... I here the Novation Ultranova is a good synth/ableton controller for the price and works well with the launchpad... is this true? Thanks so much ! Jarrah

The CDJ2000 are fairly light, the problem is the size of the setup! -
Looking into using Serato! Help with package decision?
Jarrah replied to Jarrah's topic in DJ Headquarters
Thanks a lot guys, Have been using record box since I got the setup Found it really good for organising my music, just was looking into serato as getting a new Macbook pro and have seen a few floating around really cheap second hand. I think I will just stay with the record box laptop setup I'll put money into a huge roadcase! Jarrah -
Hey, Mixing with CDJ2000's and a DJM2000's, I haven't really used Serato or Traktor all that much but I have some spare cash at the moment and am looking into purchasing Serato. (I like the layout of Serato more and have used it a little bit). Firstly, which Serato Live should I get? SL2 or SL3 and what are the benefits of using Serato live? Thanks guys! Jarrah

Hey This is a mix/mashup I did this morning including a few of my favourite remixes and mashups put together with my own live remixing and mashing. The first transition is kinda screwed up but this was the best one of the 3 live recordings I did. Please comment, download, and favourite if you like it! Give me some feedback! http://soundcloud.com/sound-atlas/electro-house-mixtape-mashup

http://soundcloud.com/sound-atlas/tech-house-mixtape Worked with layering a few beats with this, all live! Some transitions are rough, Let me know what you think!

Thanks Cupe, I'm looking through that thread now, Can you use Maschine as an ableton controller? Or does mainly work with NI programs? Thanks
-
Hi everyone, I have been mixing for a little while but am very new to the production world, I don't have any software or equipment but am keen to jump into it all over the big summer break! Firstly, I am into Electronic, House, Club, Dance, DNB, Chill, Indie Electro, DnB, Liquid DnB and Dubstep Looking to produce my own tracks. I have played piano for 11 years so I think it might be a good idea if I got a synth? I don't know where to start haha, Anyway my question is should I use Ableton or some of the NI programs? Whats good what isn't. I use a mac only. My friend has offered me his NI maschine for a pretty good price but I won't grab unless it is the right thing to do, I would also love to incorporate live production (controllers) stuff with my mixing if possible, Tell me your thoughts and thanks a lot in advance! Jarrah
