I agree, USB is becoming cheaper and cheaper and will\has taken over CD as the portable format. Almost every new car radio player has USB on the front face or cable (even $100 ones). Why carry a 700MB CD when you can get a 16GB USB for $20 now and for most people have their entire music collection with them. I guess the next move is getting rid of USB for 99% of portable storage and then everything becomes cloud based. With 4G mobile networks starting to make it's appearance in Australia it probably will happen. my entire collection is digital now, my DDJ-T1 doesnt require CD's, and i have my whole playlist with different folders for different genre's it just allows you to not have to loug around that 800 cd folder with you that is as big as one of your CDJ's video killed the radio star, and now digital has killed the cd star

i think we are getting closer than you think this can be run with ableton as well there is a software i seriously think this type of system has a good chance of achally becoming mainstream

ok so i have a full windows 7 tablet, which i use my DDJ and traktor with, works absolutly perfect, but i ran into a senario the other day that made me think i would love to have some sofware that allows me to not have to use my DDJ (when i dont have it on me) here is the senario: your at a house party, suddenly someone wants you to do a set, you have no gear, BUT you have you good old tablet which is always in the car, bam plug into the sound system that is currently playing the douches ipod who only has crap music, and instantly you have a controller and tablet working as one ENTER i am very curious about this software, i will be maybe purchasing it in the coming weeks or i will at least trial it on my tablet to see what i can get out of it. there is no way i would ever pay the $8000 or whatever they want for the whole system, because all i need is the software. look at it this way, you still have people using turnnies? old school will never die, but i think what defkon put out will eventually become mainstream in clubs, if not then mainstream for events for sure, who couldnt resist using that thing, it shouts "HEY LOOK AT ME I CAN PRESS PRESS!!!!" and thats not a stab at the autosyncness, seriously though, these days people want to know whats happening behind the decks, and this way it gives them a front row seat, i think this will start to get popular VERY quickly
