  1. So i have smashed out a couple of sets on the RMX, i love it so far, the rock solid metal casing is a bit of a plus as i am a mobile DJ it is alot more forgiven if you throw it around a bit, and there are some major bonuses that this thing has over the cheaper midi controllers. Setting the thing up was a breeze... IF you want to use it with VDJ, but this has so much more potential that to waste it on a P.O.S program like VDJ is shamefull, please go spend the extra money and get traktor, ableton, serato... ANYTHING other than VDJ. With that said, using it with traktor is a little more difficault, you need to find some mappings, and once you do that you may want to learn how to customise, because i didn't like the way the mapping was set out, don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, just not set for what I like. the jog wheels aren't really that responsive, i wouldnt buy this thing to scratch on... they are smooth to touch, but they just don't react that well on VDJ or Traktor, but i guess i am comparing to CDJ's... compared to other midi controllers in it's class the jog wheels are actually pretty high up there, they jog VERY well, i haven't had a fault yet and i am finding that its easy to beatmatch compared to my BCD-3000 on to the buttons, probably the biggest let down on the RMX is it's buttons, they stick out to much and are very easy to miss mash if you don't press it down right in the centre, would've been nice to have a flat button with minimal movement, but i guess the price point just wouldn't allow for it , at least they light up, and the fact that there is so many of them makes up for the lack of quality, beacause hey, thats what the jog wheels a for and the fact that you can go through your whole music library without touching the computer is a massive bonus too, something i was never able to do with my BCD3000 the knobs and sliders on the RMX are where this thing starts to shine, they are amazing, the only thing i can draw back is the fact that there is no middle point on the EQ knobs, but real DJ's don't need a middle point lol, as i start djing more i find myself using the EQ's in different positions for different songs to accentuate the highs and lows, but seriously, if you love your knobs and sliders then i would go this over any other midi controller for under $500, the pitch is very accurate, the volume knobs don't mind a bit of smash and pull and the crossfader knob has alot of space around it if you want to get your slide on. the soundcard on it is very powerful, i was able to push my speakers VERY high with only getting the thing to half way... very impressive, can't wait to get some PA's on it and blast some phat tuneski's, there is spots to input to other decks so i can get my CDJ on if wanted and would'nt mind trying this later down the track. so in conclusion here are the main points Pro's -extremely solid build -shiny silver finish, and pretty blue lights! -good audio connection options -great jog-wheel feel -tons of knobs and buttons in an intuitive DJ-specific layout -good song-navigation controls -Virtual DJ is good software for beginners, but once you are above begginer BUY SOME GOOD SOFTWARE -easy to use right out of the box Cons: -Virtual DJ software feels limited -hard to control “scratch” effect -buttons have too much movement, be careful!
  2. as a mobile DJ, i really find i have to keep peoples on thier toes, i try to change my songs at least every 3 - 4 minutes (unless you get a cracker that people rush to the dancefloor for) so i guess my cycle is 20 - 30 songs per hour. do you guys try to have this same principle? or do you just let the songs play for as long as they need to?
  3. Nah I got a gig on Sunday, massive 4 hour set, ill try record it all
  4. Thanks bro, that means alot coming from someone with your skill, stand by for my mix on Sunday

  6. I get u Jaz, I was doing this off my RMX that's genius though, will it hurt the souncard goin lineout to line in though???
  7. ok im going to edit my first post, jaz was right, and lloyd made me see the light [14] preferences>mix recorder [14] set to internal [14] then top right, there is a little cassette logo
  8. this is the disagreement i am gaving with jaz... can you clarify in my thread chev?

  11. just figured it out Record your set with s/Card midi controller + Traktor
  12. you can use a debit card
  13. ok guys, i just figured out how to record my set using only my Hercules RMX with a bit of re-routing... so here are the tools your going to need first...: - Your speakers must be P.A style with 1/4" Jack to plug into the mixer (the bigger one is the 1/4") - 3.5mm - RCA cable, both male And female (male set if the left ones, female set is the right ones) - mic/line in on your computer. (watch the video below on how to set up to record off audacity) 1. first off, you need to plug in and set up all the settings on your midi controller, if it has ASIO i usually don't use this setting, as i find slower computer don't like using ASIO with traktor (it makes them cry ) 2. once that's done head into traktor and select the audio setting appropriate to the picture below: this will make alot more sense with the picture in step 3 3. Plug in all the cables as seen in the picture. The RCA that goes into 1-2 plugs into you line/mic in and the female rca plugs into 3-4 and then your headphones go into that female 3.5mm plug 4. once your all plugged in and ready to record, rip up a set and upload it for us to hear!
  14. this one is a bit hard but i hope some traktor guru can solve this... how would i record my set if i was using my hercules RMX console here is what the rear of the device looks like at the moment i have the traktor settings on internal mixing, and using 1-2 for master out, and 3,4 for my cue... my ASIO driver is buggy and causes my computer to lag and the sound slows down... should i maybe plug a headphone cable into the RCA 1-2 out and then into my microphone and go the audacity trick? as i only want to record when i have my PA's hooked up so i can record a live set thanks for the help guys
  15. Damn soundcloud... copywright issues... here is the mixcloud link above!
  16. The Ableton Live Controller Jointly designed by Ableton and Novation, Launchpad places Ableton Live at your fingertips. Whether you’re a DJ, performing musician or studio producer, Launchpad gives you all you need to truly ‘play' Live. Launchpad is ultra-portable. It is USB bus powered (no need for power sockets), and weights in at just 717gms (one third the weight of a macbook!). With a multi-colour 64-button grid and dedicated scene launch buttons, Launchpad is purpose built for triggering and manipulating clips in Live, it also offers a totally new way of controlling Ableton Live’s mixer. Launchpad's buttons can be used to sketch out beats with drum racks, and they can be assigned to other functions in Live using Ableton's 'Learn' mode. Launchpad ships with a dedicated ‘Launchpad edition’ of Ableton Live 8, but can control almost any other music software using Novation's award-winning 'Automap' control software. Now from what i just read on the site it is a midi controller that is specifically mapped for ableton, it allows you to run clips AND manipulate them at the same time, give the allusion of a pre recordered feel but giving the creativity of an "on the fly" change if you feel you want to change the makeup of your song perfect for Production are you a producer?
