Mate, you really need to stop being so negative towards other genres, who gives a fuck what I ask to have played, am I asking you to play it? How can a DJ be defined as good by what genre they play? Take your fucken trolling ass out of my topic and don't post unless you have some positive to add or something worth value rather than this pathetic excuse for a post

^ ^ amen brother, preaching to the choir

It's really hard to explain but some songs just hype you up more than others, listen to your library and you will start to realise what goes where, you eventually find yourself constantly organising your library on the fly as you listen, a user on here once said "if it sounds good, it is good" as you progress you will subliminally create your own signature to your sets. Mine is that I try to keep people on their toes with one massive peak and then easing back down to a cruisey finish Hope that helps

OK so I was pretty fortunate to have some good teaches to get me to where I am, one of my old school mates (by which I mean I went to school with...seriously) was none other than DJ Alex K y'all lol, he taught me how to mix on cdj's but I could never beatmatch until I started using software ( I know weak huh) just something that took its time, but I learnt and I can out do most peeps now on the decks or the MIDI cont... been mobile Djing for 3 years, and I don't think I will ever stop, its too much fun and I get payed to do it!! So that's my story

THE GOOD: Excellent build quality includes a metal chassis, hard rubber siding, solid faders and encoders, and rugged rubber buttons. All in all, theses are tough, road-worthy units. Well thought-out, plug-and-play integration with Ableton Live makes these controllers a joy to use, especially when performing or recording in Live’s clip-oriented Session view. All controls are re-mappable. Outstanding return on investment. THE BAD: The large number of backlit buttons necessitates an included AC adapter, rather than USB bus power. Although the APCs can be mapped to other software, Akai has no intentions of releasing MIDI templates for any software but Ableton Live. THE BOTTOM LINE: The APC units are affordable enough for beginners, yet powerful and sturdy enough for professionals. With the included Akai Pro APC Edition of Ableton Live, these controllers provide an accessible point of entry into the most exciting and popular live electronic music performance software. For those with expansive needs, up to six APC units can be used simultaneously on a Live Set, which would probably be overkill, but it’s a nice sentiment. The APCs’ combination of seamless Ableton Live integration, rock-solid build, numerous hardware controls and affordability make them hard to beat. P.S this was read on DJ Tech Tools

Lies its our tax paying money he is using! we should decide! lol seriously though sol, if you want info then ask, but don't say you will buy you will buy, because people get pissed when you say that and don't buy what they recommend lol
-
sol, by the sounds of it, you don't have any competition in your area, if iw as you i would charge $50 an hour your speakers and lights alone would be worth that... i charge $70 p/h min with just myself showing up, and $150 once off for gear, gotta give yourself some cred and people will expect to pay that after awhile

Don't make it too much about marketing, put questions in there that are fun, like what's your favourite genre or song, or even DJ,
