Boxing Day Rukus ft. NOISIA [Holland] & PHACE [Germany]
delahaye replied to delahaye's topic in DJ Headquarters
NOISIA:: Drum & Bass was the game and since their inception NOISIA have become the name on the lips of every Drum and Bass aficionado as ones to watch. Thijs de Vlieger, Martijn van Sonderen and Nik Roos are part of a new breed of producers heralding new directions not only for Drum & Bass but many other genres in which they dabble, such as Breaks, House and Downtempo. Having achieved levels of success within certain genres of dance music, now they aim to expand their reach beyond the confines of Drum & Bass and move into producing and engineering music in broader senses. After spying a Vision videotape upside down their name was coined, the word ‘Vision’ rotated 180 degrees makes Noisia and speaks of their core belief in what they do and intend. Tomahawk was their first collaboration with Mayhem and together with Silicon became their first release, dropping on Nerve Recordings in 2003. Since that first release the machine went into overdrive, with Noisia becoming a part of the Subtitles stables and having several major releases as well as collabs with Subtitles head honcho TeeBee. Residents on seminal DnB label Renegade Hardware, Noisia have had both releases [including a remix of the seminal work ‘Messiah’ of Konflict fame] and DJ slots at all Hardware events. Noisia have begun their own record label entitled Vision Recordings to bring their music to the masses. With 3 releases to date [including the stormer 12” Vision 001: 'The Tide’ with ‘Concussion’ on the flipside, Vision 002: ‘Lost Cause’ w/ TeeBee and ‘Choke’ w/ Mayhem featuring MC Verse on the flip, Vision 003: ‘Bad Dreams’ and ‘Ommissions’ and a CD including ‘The Tide’, ‘Concussion’, ‘Lekker’ and a short documentary] and an emphasis on both style and substance [as can be seen in both the music and artwork accompanying the records], Vision is proving itself to be the label to watch for the freshest, finest Noisia cuts. PHACE:: "GERMANY’S ÜBER-PRODUCTION OUTFIT…” (MIXMAG Magazin 2007) Since 1999 the German duo known as PHACE (Florian Harres aka Bluescreen & Nicolas Ruoff aka Format) have been dedicated to developing their unique style of deep and futuristic drum & bass, combining cutting edge funk and tech elements to create a new symbiosis of sounds & grooves. Phace is a very own definition of cutting-edge music, it is all about pushing the limits, sonically, and this has made them two of Germany's top artists storming the international Drum’n’Bass scene. Their international break-through started in 2005 when Phace were voted best national producers and second best national DJ within Germany's very own Future Music Drum & Bass Awards. Since then they have had releases on Teebees label Subtitles, followed by Renegade Hardware and the mighty Virus imprint, including their collaborations with top artists such as C4C, Noisia and Mayhem. In 2008 they finally launched their own label NEOSIGNAL in a joint venture with their longtime friend Misanthrop and so the bar is raised higher again. Handled as one of the scenes freshest acts you have to experience it to understand. -

Naras Entertainment, Empire Hotel, Brizbass.com & Junglettes present a UK Jungle/Drum'n'Bass triple header: DJ Hype, Daddy Earl & Xample!! Wed Nov 19 9pm-3am @Empire Hotel $20 on the door local support: Kranky, Hifire. de la Haye __________________________________________________________________ HYPE True Playaz / Ganja / Suburban Base / Fabric / Kiss 100 - UK http://www.myspace.com/hypehypehype http://www.playazonline.co.uk http://www.myspace.com/ganjarecords http://www.totalkiss.com/Channels/Music ... px?djId=31 As the founding member of hiphop influenced Ganja Cru DJ Hype brings turntabilist scratching to the hyperkinetic beats of jungle. Essentially Hype is to drum and bass as Afrika Bambaata was to the development of hip-hop. He first became involved in music through the legendary Shut Up and Dance sound system, like many before him his interest growing from physically building the speakers that made up the rig to DJ’ing, spinning reggae, house and hip hop throughout the eighties. As time passed, his skills behind the turntable grew to the extent of winning the London heat of the 1989 DMC’s and going on to represent Britain in the European championships. His Sunday night sessions on KISS FM are some of the most popular and secured him Best Male DJ and Best Radio DJ at subsequent Hardcore Awards. His time in the studio began at Kickin', co-producing The Scientist's seminal 'Exorcist' and 'The Bee' before laying down tracks for a number of other labels - the most notable of which, Suburban Base, saw him compiling the still highly sought after 'Drum and Bass Selection' series in addition to notching up his own underground smashes in the form of 'Trooper' and 'Shot In The Dark' while touching upon the charts with 'Isotonic' on FFRR. With substantial success, it was only a matter of time before Hype established his own label Ganja in 1993 working closely with fellow ex-Suburban Base artist and friend Pascal. 'Cops' opened up the play for his Ganja imprint which was later to feature 'Ganja Man' and Zinc's legendary 'Super Sharp Shooter,' before peaking with the 'Still Smokin' album, a collaborative effort with Pascal's Frontline Records. In 1997, they established True Playaz. Hype explains his Philosophy. 'There are two things which keep me going. Firstly, I haven't got anything else - this is it for me so I've got to keep it going - I look at what I have and music has got me everything in my life as well as enabling me to help my family. Secondly I see the enthusiasm for this music from people all over the world. This year alone we've dj'd all over the world; Spain, Canada, Switzerland, Estonia and we know that the whole planet wants it. When you've evolved with something and become part of it on a level where you know that there is such a love for it - it becomes something very special to you. To think five years ago no one could have ever have contemplated that this music would be where it is now. The day I'm playing out and the audience doesn't like it anymore I'll probably move onto something else.' XAMPLE Ram Records / Frequency / Front Line / Flex / Hard leaders / Penny Black / L Plates - UK http://www.myspace.com/xamplebeats Originally from Bristol, Xample relocated to Liverpool and teamed up with the local dj/producers Sol and Futurebound. Xample became a regular at nights around the North West, playing at some of the best nights in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds. Around this time, Xample decided he wanted to try his hand at producing and before to long had notched up releases on labels such as Hard leaders, Penny Black and L Plates. In 2005 Xample moved back to Bristol and continued to work hard on shaping his sound, soon attracting interest from Andy C and the rest of the Ram camp, which lead to Xample signing to Frequency for a couple for 12s, before giving Ram his first track, ‘Heaven And Hell’, for the well received Dimensions EP, and also on Andy C’s Nightlife 3mix CD. It looks like Ram have done it again. Following the signings of Subfocus and Chase & Status, they have now snatched Xample, whose three forthcoming Ram tracks are already played by the biggest DJs on the scene, with Grooverider plugging ‘Lowdown’ at every Radio One show. DADDY EARL MC Ganja / Frontline / Infrared / Fabric - UK http://www.myspace.com/mcdaddyearl MC Daddy Earl started out over twenty years ago as part of the heatwave soundsystem along side dance music legends Shut Up And Dance and DJ Hype. Over those years he has featured quite a few times on tracks that Hype and Shut Up And Dance have released but has never been interested in being an artist in his own right till this year. From Shut Up And Dances early nineties classic “Ten Pounds to get in” to last years huge” Dubplate Killaz” on Hype and Pascal’s Ganja label, MC Daddy Earl has been involved in the dance music scene. From building soundsystems in the eighties to putting the “Hype Hype Hype “into DJ Hype, Daddy Earl has very much been a driving force behind the careers of DJ Hype and Shut Up And Dance. Watchout for more tracks featuring Daddy Earl with DJ Hype and of course his continuing live work.

Junglettes, Pure Bred, http://www.brizbass.com present a DRUM'N'BASS double header 6-DECK BACK TO BACK SET! TEEBEE [Norway - Subtitles / Certificate 18 / Renegade Hardware / Metalheadz / Momentum] CALYX [uK - Moving Shadow / Metalheadz / Renegade Hardware / Violence / Momentum / Thunderous / 31 / Subtitles] @MoonBar, top floor Empire Hotel *Also this is an early-ish gig for anyone working Friday - set times are: 8pm Psuedocode 9pm de la Haye vs. Dr Dom 10pm Renda 11pm Calyx & TeeBee 2am Lincoln 3am Kurrupt ________________________________________________________________________________ Calyx & TeeBee’s first collaborations emerged in 2004, but their history and friendship dates back to 1998 when they were introduced as label-mates of the legendary Moving Shadow imprint. In the following years the two artists accumulated an astounding back-catalogue of releases on a glittering array of DnB’s most respected labels. In 1999 TeeBee founded what was to become one of the scene’s most reputable labels: ‘Subtitles’. The imprint grew from being a home for his own productions to a multi-artist label that is now highly revered by producers and DJs alike as a flag-bearer for the cutting-edge of forward-thinking Drum and Bass. 2007 proved to be a phenomenal year for the duo with the launch of their new label ‘Momentum Music’, marking its first release with an entire album of Calyx & Teebee collaborations released on 4-piece Vinyl and CD. The Anatomy LP proved to be one of the most highly anticipated albums in DnB for many years. With every track gaining massive DJ support from all the scene’s top players, the album topped sales charts for weeks on end and was followed by a massive album World Tour of back-to-back Calyx & TeeBee sets. Fast forward to 2008 and Calyx & TeeBee are now working towards completing their second collaborative album – an LP which will see them branch into new genres with one half of the LP being DnB and the other half comprising a wide range of styles. Expect a Vinyl triple pack of the 6 DnB cuts, and all 12 tracks released on CD and mp3. Two mouth-watering remixes of tracks from the Anatomy LP are currently in progress by 2 highly-acclaimed artists and will feature on a Momentum 12” prior to the new LP’s release. In addition to their ventures into new styles of music, Calyx & TeeBee have been pushing for more of their joint sets to feature 6 decks and 2 mixers, with both DJ’s in action simultaneously. They first performed with this setup at a legendary event in Moscow, October 2007. Since then have made a further 14 performances on 6 to 8 decks and 2 mixers. With each gig they have discovered more permutations, possibilities and ideas whilst developing an understanding that generates both spontaneous and choreographed moments. Calyx and TeeBee find it by far the most exciting, enjoyable and expressive way they have ever performed and are now looking to make every joint booking feature this setup. Rest assured, you will never have heard or seen a DnB performance like it!
