In the following years the two artists accumulated an astounding back-catalogue of releases on a glittering array of DnB’s most respected labels. In 1999 TeeBee founded what was to become one of the scene’s most reputable labels: ‘Subtitles’. The imprint grew from being a home for his own productions to a multi-artist label that is now highly revered by producers and DJs alike as a flag-bearer for the cutting-edge of forward-thinking Drum and Bass. When Calyx and TeeBee finally decided it was time to work together in the studio, the first two tracks they produced (‘Follow The Leader’ and ‘Cyclone’) were highly acclaimed by the music press and witnessed huge DJ support across the scene. With both tracks featuring on Calyx’s debut album ‘No Turning Back’, they went on to gain enormous exposure for the duo as Rockstar games used their music as the soundtracks for a global advertising campaign for the latest installment of the colossal ‘Midnight Club’ series; with ‘Follow The Leader’ featuring on a lengthy TV commercial that gained huge publicity by being given blanket prime-time coverage for several months in every world territory. In 2006 Calyx & TeeBee produced one of their landmark releases of the year: ‘The Quest’ which featured on the historic 50th release for Subtitles. Having also written ‘The Shape Of Things To Come’ for Renegade Hardware’s 10 year anniversary album ‘Above The Game’, the duo then decided it was time to embark on the long journey to produce their debut collaborative album: ‘Anatomy’. 2007 proved to be a phenomenal year for the duo with the launch of their new label ‘Momentum Music’, marking its first release with an entire album of Calyx & Teebee collaborations released on 4-piece Vinyl and CD. The Anatomy LP proved to be one of the most highly anticipated albums in DnB for many years. With every track gaining massive DJ support from all the scene’s top players, the album topped sales charts for weeks on end and was followed by a massive album World Tour of back-to-back Calyx & TeeBee sets. Calyx & TeeBee are now working towards completing their second collaborative album – an LP which will see them branch into new genres with one half of the LP being DnB and the other half comprising a wide range of styles. Expect a Vinyl triple pack of 6 DnB cuts, and all 20 tracks released on double-CD and mp3. Two mouth-watering remixes of tracks from the Anatomy LP are currently in progress by 2 highly-acclaimed artists and will feature on a Momentum 12” prior to the new LP’s release. In addition to their ventures into new styles of music, Calyx & TeeBee have been pushing for more of their joint sets to feature 6 decks and 2 mixers, with both DJs in action simultaneously. They first performed with this setup at a legendary event in Moscow, October 2007. Since then have made over 40 performances on 6 to 8 decks and 2 mixers. With each gig they have discovered more permutations, possibilities and ideas whilst developing an understanding that generates both spontaneous and choreographed moments. Calyx and TeeBee find it by far the most exciting, enjoyable and expressive way they have ever performed and are now looking to make every joint booking feature this setup. Rest assured, you will never have heard or seen a DnB performance like it!

  5. Thurs Aug 27 - The Operatives present:: KLUTE [uK / (Commercial Suicide, Metalheadz, Hospital, Soul:r, abunchofcuts.com ] http://www.myspace.com/kluteuk http://www.myspace.com/commercialsuiciderecords SET TIMES: 21:00: MATTINKORE + STEVE-O 22:00 JPS + NAM [Melb] 23:00 KLUTE [uk] 01:00 SHARDS 2-3am close _____________________________________________ Klute's latest single has shown once again that he is one of the strongest creative forces in drum & bass, with a diverse range of DJs supporting a fresh and uplifting Eastern-influenced sound. "Ashram" has had rave reviews from the likes of DJ Magazine (Single of the Month) and been a firm favourite with BBC Radio 1’s Bobby Friction & Nihal, DJ Pathaan and DJ Presha. "Trust Me" keeps the vibes bubbling and, together with gorgeous artwork, completes a classy 12". Klute is also currently on a nationwide tour in New Zealand, taking in dates in Nelson, Dunedin, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington. After last year's well-received single ("Divinity" b/w "Hang With Me") for NZ mainstay Samurai Music, we're sure he'll be made to feel most welcome. Klute's made no secret of his love of techno and is also available to play techno sets in typically varied style, as demonstrated by his 'Emperor's New Clothes LP' and a remix for Douglas Greed on Combination Records. Klute's label goes from strength-to-strength with another heavyweight single due out soon, following on from recent releases by Break ("Subversion EP") and Mindscape & Hydro ("Skid Row" b/w "Afterburner"). "Justify" b/w "Sound Down" makes for another strong single, with both sides supplied by New Zealand talent Trei. SKC and Munk join forces with Hydro for "Animism b/w Head First", a pair of hard-hitting rollers that proves Commercial Suicide is one of the most varied imprints around. Demonstrating it's reputation for quality and diversity, the following artists are available for Commercial Suicide label nights: Klute, Calibre, Break, Amit, SKC, Deeizm, Stamina MC and others. 9pm-2/3am @Moonbar, top level Empire Hotel Cnr Brunswick and Ann Sts. 6. Rukus bring you a night of pure dubstep, breaks & drum'n'bass madness, Sat Aug 22 @Moonbar RESO - dubstep/breaks/DnB [uK - Civil Music / Urban Graffiti / Storming / Pitch Black / Ranking] INNASEKT - dubstep [uK - Rottun / Red Volume / Sprengstoff / Frijsfo] DELSTAR - dubstep - rinsin' it out! SPEAKERWRATH - dubstep/hiphop/DnB DE LA HAYE & ILLICIT hiphop/glitch/dubstep/breaks RESO [uK - Civil Music,Urban Graffiti, Storming, Pitch Black] http://www.myspace.com/corgrimey http://www.tfabookings.com/roster/reso.html Grotty, liquid, dark, brutal and lush are all words used to describe the music of 25 year-old Reso, such a contrasting set of adjectives are hard to understand but after a listen to a few of his productions, you begin to understand why. A drummer at heart, these natural patterns of “skin hitting” are engrained within his brain and shine through on his digital programming and productions. Reso’s aural identity is a densely layered, high octane tapestry, rich with musical texture and colour, which really sets him apart from the minimal sparseness of many of his fellow producers. Mary Anne Hobbs has been a fervent supporter of the young producer, commissioning a special 20-minute mix for her Radio One Breezeblock show back in January 2007. Reso is certainly one of the most technically gifted producers to have sprouted from the dubstep scene and is fast gaining recognition from the techno, glitch and breaks scene for his own twisted take on the dubstep/ 130bpm-140bpm sound. Recently Reso’s remix of Buraka Som Sistema and The Dubstitutes 2 Faced Rasta song (which have both been featured on the Fabriclive 42: freq nasty cd) alongside Reso’s own production “if ya cant beat em” have been gathering strong support from some of Dubstep’s key players such as Benga, N-Type and Rusko. He has also worked with the enigmatic producer Burial, engineering his critically acclaimed remix of Jamie Woon’s Wayfaring Stranger. With a busy DJ schedule, Reso has been up and down the country smashing dance floors from Newcastle to Nottingham and London, whilst regularly hitting mainland Europe. With a number of key releases on Storming Productions, Destructive and Urban Graffiti Reso has now become part of the Civil family and is currently writing his album for release in 2009. Reso is the soundtrack to a robot genocide. INNASEKT [uK - Rottun / Red Volume / Sprengstoff / Frijsfo] http://www.myspace.com/innasekt http://www.myspace.com/thisisharmitage Innasekt create their own unique definition of dubstep orientated beats which favour complex arrangements with dense atmospheres, managing to produce hybrid structures combining conflicting elements: the heat of heavy subbasses and the icy coldness of dusky rooms. Forming in the summer of 2006 after becoming housemates at art college, these chaps have found home at a variety of labels such as swedish abstract dubstep label RED VOLUME, canadian dirt mongers ROTTUN, Berlin breakcore label SPRENGSTOFF and Bristol's electronic imprint FRIJSFO. The pair have also provided remixes for artists such as SUMONE (Planet Mu), CARDOPUSHER (Terminal Dusk, Lo Dubs) and FAIB (Ranking Records). Support has come from the likes of Scuba, Warlock, Suhk Knight, Broken Note, Search and Destroy, Forsaken, Black Mass Plastics and Moving Ninja amongst others. http://www.myspace.com/speakerwrath http://www.myspace.com/illicitdjmusic http://www.myspace.com/deluxedel http://www.myspace.com/delahaye @MoonBar, top floor Empire Hotel cnr Brunswick & Ann Streets, Fortitude Valley $5 entry for Junglettes/Brizbass mailout members / or Empire members / or before 10pm $10 otherwise To sign up to mailout - go to http://www.myspace.com/junglettes and enter FULL NAME & EMAIL 10pm-5am (middle bar opens @ 9pm) Dress code - smart casual / sorry no shorts/singlets guys 18+ - MUST BRING VALID PHOTO ID

Matt Logistics railed against the music his brother, Dan Nu:Tone would listen to and finally acquired a taste for Drum & Bass through the Full Cycle 'Music Box' LP. "That LP was like down tempo tunes with double time beats!" he explains "I'd always been into stuff like Mo' Wax and that album, particularly '11.55' by Roni Size & DJ Die had the same vibe that I could relate to." Having a brother already signed up to Hospital didn't qualify Matt for an 'automatic in' and it wasn't until he sent Replay down to the office, swiftly followed by Fabio and Grooverider picking up on the tune, that he got his chance to work on his own album project. Having just left college this was a great opportunity for Logistics and he made the very best of it, working solidly on creating masterpieces in the form of Together, Spacejam, The Trip and Release The Pressure (the only previously released tune on the album) and bridging the gap between what until then had often been a lacklustre sub-genre; Liquid Funk and more exciting, dance floor orientated Drum & Bass. It's Logistics' influence that has been picked up by the major DJs in the scene such as Andy C and Friction, and his anthemic creations have contributed greatly to the modern Hospital sound. The LP itself Now More Than Ever (released in winter 2005) is a hugely ambitious project, restraining no less than 24 speaker busting tunes beneath its calm exterior a double CD affair with CD1 'Now' offering a traditional Logistics sound while CD2 'More Than Ever' comes at you like a hungry Lion, simply and effectively looking to tear out your jugular with a deeper and rougher sound. 18 months on, having scooped Best Album at the 1xtra Bass awards for his debut album, Logistics dropped his second long player Reality Checkpoint. Rammed full of genre bending goodness it was heralded as a glimpse of the future with dubstep and electronica influences fusing together with the anthemic Logistics sound. 2008 saw the Luke Skywalker of the Future Sound Of Cambridge drop the massive track "Cosmonaut" and feature on several awesome collabs with Commix and brother Nu:Tone. Logistics' productions kept sub basses pounding throughout 2008. Now locked away deep in the Degobah system making tracks, you won't have to wait long in to 2009 to experience which side of the force Logistics will be wielding... ___________________________________________ CYANTIFIC [Hospital / CIA / Rubik - UK] Best Breakthrough DJ award 2007 - BBC 1Xtra http://www.myspace.com/cyantific http://www.hospitalrecords.com/artists/cyantific/ Our freelance Cyantists hail from the far flung reaches of South-West London. Award winning disk jockey Jon & twisted synth genius Matt have been making harsh tasty beats together since high school and were gathered up into the Hospital fold in summer 2002, after a tip off from High Contrast no less. A series of 12"s, remixes and compilation appearances helped to build their diehard underground fanbase. In 2005 they released Don't Follow a storming fast soul classic which featured the vocal talents of the legendary Diane Charlemagne, this brought their sound to a new audience and has remained in the boxes of many A-list d&b jocks ever since. It was 2006 which saw the release of their Debut LP Ghetto Blaster; an epic album of futuristic beats which won instant plaudits from both fans and critics alike and really marked Cyantific's place in D&B history. Remix work and extensive touring followed, with Jon taking his djing to a new level. Recognised in march 2007 when Cyantific scooped the highly prized Best Breakthrough DJ award from BBC 1Xtra - It was apparent that Jon has some serious skills, and he's on a mission to spread the gospel according to Cyantific far and wide. After Cyantific gave a mixing masterclass on Hospital Mix 6 it is now in 2009 and on Hospital Mix 7 that we grab a sneak of what they have been working on. "Empty Streets" & "Space Zombie" come straight from their studio bunker. In a Strangely blurred area of South West London on Google maps, there are reports of tech, funk and breaks well above normal levels. In regular djing trips outside of the compound Cyantific has leaked more and more space age material. If you don't know by now, hold tight, the truth is out there, and it's coming to a dancefloor near you!

Telemetrik is an electronic music producer hailing from Washington D.C. He has been releasing electronica since 2002, when he started the independent label Telemetrik Recordings to distribute his music. Before returning to work last year on a solo album, he was best known for his involvement in Corrupt Souls, a Drum n Bass collaboration he formed with Josh Clark (a.k.a. Impulse) in 2003. Corrupt Souls released music under various established Drum and Bass labels including Moving Shadow, Renegade Hardware, and Black Sun Empire Recordings. Songs like “1138” on BSE, “Wicked Life” on Moving Shadow, and “Samsara” on Circle Recordings, helped propel the duo into the Drum n Bass mainstream. They were featured in Knowledge, Urb, and Rinse magazines, and toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe. Telemetrik’s first full-length solo album, My Lightyear, was released in 2008 on Black Sun Empire Recordings. The record was praised for its technical and melodic style, and is performed by DJ's and producers around the world. DJ'ing in Sydney and interstate for the last five years, Dauntless has played alongside major headliners, Noisia, Raiden, Break and Fierce, Phace and Misanthrop, Alix Perez and Lynx, to name a few, and has held his own with his unique musical blend of tech funked beats and bass driven grooves! 2009 sees Dauntless playing more interstate gigs and smashing down the beats in Sydney proper! Paul Dred [No Frills / Sydney] Paul's fascination with dance music started around 1991 listening to local pirate radio stations in and around South London. He started accumulating music, initially hunting down tape packs of his favourite DJs. His ongoing love affair with vinyl started well before he got his first set of turntables, with his first ever purchase; 4-Hero’s classic "Cooking up Yah Brain". Paul soon become obsessed with the underground music and followed the natural progression that his favourite artists were taking as hardcore mutated into Jungle then onto Drum'n'Bass. Even when the music became perceived "unfashionable" Paul’s love for Drum'n'Bass only intensified. Fast forward to 2005, Paul found himself in Australia and it wasn't long before he found like-minded individuals who shared his love for breakbeats and sub-bass. No longer satisfied with sitting back and watching it all happen Paul hooked up with the No Frills crew and more involved. Since then Paul has co-promoted and provided DJ support for a number of DnB’s greatest artists including Dom & Roland, Tech Itch, Phace, Noisia, Bailey, Remarc, Phace and D-Bridge to name a few. Paul Dred’s DJ sets are known for being dark, deep and eclectic without any trace of cheese. Definitely one for the headz! Boot [syd] & Sook [Rottun Records / Syd] Boot & Sook write music because they have to, they seriously wouldn't know what to do with themselves if they didn't. No similes, allegories or waffling flowery statements are needed to describe the sound: Badass teched out take your pants off dancefloor punk filth plain and simple! The majority of their sets are made of their own blend of dubstep and drum'n'bass, influenced by everything from Konflict to Mike Patton, Excision to King Crimson, Parliament to Propagandhi, The LHC to the Crab Nebula and back out the otherside and up the street for another bottle of vodka. Boot & Sook have had DJ and Radio support from artists such as Excision (Canada), Garage Pressure, Sub Bass Snarl and Dutty Dubz crew, supported the likes of Calyx & Teebee, Phace, Misanthrop, Raiden, Spor, Ewun, Gridlok, Storm, Temper D, Impact and Dose and have been regulars at many events/riots/paddywagons around Sydney including the infamous DSS Warehouse parties, No Frills parties, Konkrete Jungle, DNBBQ, Suck It Up, Greenbeats and Inhale. The boys are hyperpsyched to get the fuck out of dodge and unleash the abyss on QLD. Strap on your moonboots, it's time to spacewalk.

Fortitude Valley Rit LOCUS (Bristol, UK) Having fallen head-over-heels in love with drum 'n' bass after going to his first ever rave in January of 1999, it took a mere 9 months for Rit to give birth to his baby, the legendary LOCUS parties in Bristol, UK. Borne of house party beginnings, the first LOCUS event featured a line-up of a size that Bristol had not seen in a very long time, featuring Andy C, DJ Hype, Bad Company and Optical, amongst others. Since that inaugural outing, Rit has worked with some of the biggest names in the scene, including Fabio, Grooverider, Ed Rush, Matrix, Doc Scott, Zinc, Storm, Marcus Intalex, LTJ Bukem, TeeBee, Usual Suspects, Loxy, Bad Company, Bailey, Photek, High Contrast, Stamina MC, Calyx and DJ Marky (Brasil), in addition to being ahead of the curve and being the first promoter to give Bristol bookings to cutting-edge artists such as Klute, Kemal, Hidden Agenda, DJ Flight, Break and Calibre, and working with Goldie to run the Metalheadz residency in Bristol for almost two years. Just as drum 'n' bass draws from many influences, he has opened up the LOCUS parties to guests from other genres, playing side-by-side with their junglist colleagues, such as 4 Hero, Gilles Peterson, Charlie Dark (Attica Blues), Skream, live funk and jazz bands, and many more! Having spent so long programming perfectly-balanced combinations of music and fine-tuning his ear, Rit's foray into DJing was a natural progression, building sets comprised of lush, melodic harmonies partnered with rolling, energetic beats and basslines. His passion for travelling the world has resulted in him playing to dancefloors in diverse locations such as Puerto Rico, Estonia, and Ukraine, with world music influences colouring his DJ sets with ethnic tinges. Come and treat your ears to the music that Rit has gravitated towards through his years of experience, and realise that he still has so much more to offer.
