With 10 years of DJ experience under their belts each, playing in live groups and smashing the clubs on the regular; Affiks & A13 have been responsible for helping introduce Melbourne to the dubstep, future beats and glitch-hop sounds that have spawned from underground studios all over the globe. Acknowledging their affinity almost instantly, the duo have since started writing tracks and playing back-to-back DJ sets at the popular monthly club night Heavy Innit. Recently supporting some of their favourite artists and key players such as Joker(UK), The Bug(UK), Harmonic313(UK), Starkey(USA) and Truth(NZ) and Dexterous(The Others-UK), Plastician(UK), Joe Nice(USA), 2562(NL), Nero(UK), Excision(CAN), Emalkay(UK), PINCH(UK), 16BIT(UK), Skream(UK), and Benga(UK). With bookings coming at them left, right and centre, it seems that the late nights aren't going to end anytime soon. MC FRAKSHA (Heavy Innit!! / Taos Records / Melb) http://www.myspace.com/fraksha Earning his stripes in the UK’s underground live circuit, Fraksha has proven himself to be one of the UK’s finest MC’s. As a founding member of the UK outfit Nine High, Fraksha has always been destined for big things. Having shared the stage with artists like Skinnyman, Klashnekoff & Blak Twang, Fraksha has honed his craft and sold out two mixtapes - a testament to his tenure in the UK scene. Opting to move to the greener pastures of Australia in 2006, Fraksha hit the ground running, joining Aria Award winning Bliss N Eso on their sold out Get Loose tour, giving Fraksha the opportunity to slide into the Australian Hip-Hop scene with ease. With the love received on the Get Loose tour, Fraksha re-pressed his Take Two (Nine High) mixtape which received rave reviews and sold out within just a few months of release. Since his 2006 arrival into Australia, Fraksha has shown his versatility, being regularly booked to perform at cross-genre events (dub step, drum and bass) displaying his unique UK flow and demonstrating his refusal to be boxed in to the ‘hip hop’ mould. From drum n bass, to grime, to dancehall to dubstep and anything in-between, you name it, he can rap on it. An in-demand host for events throughout the country, Fraksha is perhaps best known for his residencies at Melbourne’s biggest dubstep parties; Wobble, Heavy Innit and Too Much. With a critically acclaimed self titled debut album with Nine High (released July 2009) under his belt and collaborations with notable Australian artists such as Reason, Ciecmate, Phrase, Choose Mics, M-Phazes, Autism and DJ Bonez, Fraksha is now a well known and widely respected MC in the Australian scene. In 2010 we see Fraksha coming together with fellow MC’s Diem (Hospice Crew), Scotty Hinds (Nine High) and Murky Depths to start what is Australia’s first grime crew “Smashbrothers”. Noted for their high energy live shows and regular radio appearances, Smashbrothers are THE crew to watch in 2010. Most recently, Fraksha has released his first solo offering “It’s Just Bars”, the first official grime release to come out of Australia. It’s Just Bars has received rave reviews throughout the country and the first single “Next Sound Level” (check out the music video on youtube) has since been remixed by Loco, MatCant (Scattermish) and renowned dubstep producer Spherix. An MC of many genres, Fraksha is one of the hardest working MC’s in the country and is destined to continue dominating the Australian music scene. FRAKSHA HAS PERFORMED ALONGSIDE ARTISTS: Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, The Game, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, N-Type, Dizz1, Cotti, Starkey, Kito, Joe Nice, Emalkay, Excision, Nero, Silkie and Anti-serum BLUNT INSTRUMENT (Run Riot Records / Mambo / Swingset Sounds) http://www.bluntinstrumentmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/bluntinstrumentbeats A 5 minute lesson in beat mixing on a small farm in Northern New South Wales was the catalyst for 5 years of sharing a musical brain that has culminated into the production duo of Blunt Instrument. Fueled by an addiction to the early ninja tune catalog the production style of Blunt Instrument began as sample based instrumental hip hop, drawing inspiration from pioneers like DJ Food and the ubiquitous DJ Shadow, along with artists from the classic mid 90’s era of rap like A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Jungle Brothers and so many others. Like any good addiction, a desire for more has pushed Blunt Instrument forward in new directions, searching the for the freshest beats, the most unique sounds and the heaviest bass – Amon Tobin, Tipper, Bassnectar and a sound called glitch-hop was their new destination of choice. http://soundcloud.com/rola-de http://www.myspace.com/speakerwrath http://www.myspace.com/delahaye http://www.myspace.com/kosha_d @Moonbar, top level Empire Hotel Cnr Brunswick & Ann Sts. Signed to Futurebound's Viper Recordings and Simon Bassline Smith's Technique Recordings respectively, they have upped the ante with every track they have released. Drawing on an eclectic range of influences and fusing them with cutting edge Drum & Bass production, ShockOne & Phetsta have developed their own unmistakable sound. As solo artists both ShockOne & Phetsta are already well established within the dance music world. In 2007 Phetsta topped the UK Drum & Bass charts with his acclaimed Congo EP. In 2009 ShockOne released his self titled EP which topped the D&B and Dubstep charts for well over a month. The lead single Polygon blitzed Triple J's Super Request for several weeks and was touted by Annie Mac as "The biggest Drum & Bass tune out". Between them they have dominated the Best Producer, Best Local Tune, and Best Drum & Bass categories at the Perth Dance Music Awards for the past four years. ShockOne & Phetsta's collaborations Cyclones & The Sun 2009 gained air play on BBC's Radio 1 and high rotation on Triple J, both topping Super Request. They also released a full length video clip for The Sun 2009 which landed television support from ABC Australia's Rage. Never easily satisfied, they both grew beards and planned their next move. In late 2009 ShockOne & Phetsta decided to take things further by debuting a live audio visual / deejay hybrid show. "We got so bored with generic deejaying, we can mix a Drum & Bass set without even thinking about it. We started playing on three decks, then four. We bought in an extra mixer. We still weren't satisfied!" said ShockOne. "We had to switch things up." "We've always done things a little different from the majority of Drum & Bass artists," Phetsta says. "We want to push things as far as possible in every direction be it audio or visual. We came up with this insane idea of editing archives of video and animation and then triggering them live, while mixing on four decks back to back through two mixers. It's the best idea we've ever had but also the most insane." The boys locked down in their studio in an industrial area of Perth splicing and dicing tour footage, original animation and classic pop culture references . After many sleepless nights ShockOne & Phetsta finally unveiled their live show in the form of a three hour showcase at Shape Nightclub in Perth, spanning the sounds of Drum & Bass, Dubstep and Electro House. With confidence in their new stage show, Shock-Phet turned to launching the official video clip for The Sun 2009 in Perth and Home Bake in Sydney. ShockOne & Phetsta are now set to take their four deck, two mixer live AV show on the road, heading to New Zealand with Matrix & Futurebound and touring nation wide within Australia.

London Elektricity will be on early for those who have to work the following day. $18 presolds available now from http://tickets.oztix.com.au/?Event=15949&promoID=100 & usual outlets / $25 on the door @Electric Playground 27 Warner Street, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane 8:30pm - 2am no dresscode (but no thongs/jandals) 18+ photo ID will be required London Elektricity (Hospital Records / UK) http://www.myspace.com/londonelektricity http://www.myspace.com/hospitalrecords Flip the script again in 2007. Tony LE is back behind the decks with sets from London to Japan to Malaysia, Australia, California, Eastern Europe an onwards. Tony also keeps it cutting edge as always by bringing you the groundbreaking Hospital Podcast. This regular show, available through iTunes, is smashing up the bandwith as people subscribe from Canada to Cape Town. Keep locked on as London Elektricity pushes things forward! The LE saga began way back in '96, and up until 2002 LE was a double-act. Tony Colman and Chris Goss made their mark in 98 with the epic Song In The Key Of Knife, and subsequent critically acclaimed debut album Pull The Plug. In 2002 Tony took on the project solo, as Chris concentrated on taking the NHS empire to the next level. With the release of Billion $ Gravy in 2003, phone calls from Fabio and Radio One requested a live session from Maida Vale - and lo', LONDON ELEKTRICITY LIVE was born. For 2 years between 'Gravy' and 2005's album Power Ballads Tony and the Band have played over 150 gigs reaching a quarter of a million people with their Live Drum & Bass spectacular. With the release of Live at The Scala in 2006, the live band bowed out in style. The past couple of years have seen Tony become the people's choice for their dnb news and upfront music as host of the multi award winning Hospital Podcast. Raking up outrageous bandwidth bills following millions of downloads the Hospital Podcast has a massive cult following, with its happily controversial host intrinsic to its success. In September 2008 Syncopated City was released, the 4th studio album and another masterpiece from the man like L.E. MC A.D. (UK) http://www.myspace.com/mcad1 MC A.D. began to MC back in 1994 at the early age of 16 at one of London’s leading Pirate stations: Eruption Fm. He started working with the likes of; DJ Zinc, Loxy & MC Rage this got him to perform at various venues such as the Astoria, The Rocket and Club UN in North London over a period of time. It wasn’t long before getting his first international gig travelling to Germany in 1997. Sadly towards the end of 1997 Eruption Fm shut down but with consistent encouragement from MC RAGE, A.D. carried on trying to break through to the mainstream DnB circuit by performing in & around the UK & Europe establishing a name for himself! 1999 was the turning point of A.D.'s career whilst hosting the Renegade Hardware show on Rinse FM this created a chance meeting with Clayton Renegade Hardware. After this meeting Clayton offered A.D. the opportunity to perform at one of their Renegade Hardware tour nights with DJ Ink that soon lead onto his residency @ Hardware. Soon after DJ Ink requested that A.D. join him on his forthcoming tour of Europe & America. During a performance with DJ Ink & Loxy in the states DJ Hype was in the building & present at one of these gigs he’d heard A.D. and was truly impressed with him. On his return to the UK Hype called A.D. asking him to join the rest of the residents at Playaz and become his personal MC at the time. Following on from this he recv’d a call from Unique Artists offering him a place on the roster & to become part of the agency where at the time some of the scenes finest DJ's and MC's were based. Now after many years & many tours for Playaz A.D. still maintains a string of UK residencies: True Playaz, Renegade Hardware (UK/Worldwide) and Hospitality. London residencies held at Fabric:Live, Therapy Sessions, The Monday Club, Rupture & Autopsy and many European residencies.

Being voted as best national Drum & Bass Producer and DJ already in 2006 at Germany’s very own Drum & Bass Future-Music Awards, the boys early proved true of what they are capable of doing inside the studio. They invented a fresh, deep, energetic and individual sound to the scene and with that set the path for many newskool producers to follow. They literally got propelled across the globe and through all of the DnB scene‘s media. With their successfull debut Album „Psycho“ released in 2007 (voted Album of the month in UK..s Mixmag Magazine) on Teebee‘s Subtitles Music Imprint, they and their music has gained steady support by international top acts like Andy C, Pendulum, Friction, Goldie, Ed Rush & Optical, Chase & Status, Noisia, Spor etc. As DJ’s, the Hamburg located artists have internationally stormed through all of the world’s major DnB locations, clubs and festivals. Their constant touring over all of the past years has taken them to metropolises like London, Los Angeles, Singapore, Auckland, Sydney, Moscow, Berlin, Toronto, Barcelona, St. Petersburg, Paris etc. Handled as one of the freshest and technically most gifted German and international Drum & Bass producers of the current and last years, they joined forces with fellow producer countryman Misanthrop and finally launched their own and long awaited Label NEOSIGNAL end of 2008. With putting up Neosignal Label Nights across many cities, just finishing a massive remix for UK‘s indie band Hadouken! and having already four successful single releases in the Neosignal catalogue, their second Album in collaboration with Misanthrop is set to be released in February 2010. Phace are ready to launch their personal Phase II and they do not even consider to rest and continue their mission to spread cutting edge electronic music with its distinctive Phace groove and underground character.

Having built an enviable back catalogue of dark, deadly drum & bass, the production duo of Si & Leon aka Kryptic Minds have quickly established a foothold in the exploding global dubstep scene. As the flagship artists on Loefah DMZ’s label Swamp 81, their 12”s and album “One of Us” continue dubstep’s tradition for stone‐cold halfstep, flying against the dancefloor’s natural urges for momentum and release. Instead they unleash fearsome sub bass assaults that lead listeners into an edgy otherworld and have become staples of sets by halfstep innovator Youngsta as well as Loefah himself. Look out for upcoming releases across some of dubstep's leading labels including Tectonic, Disfigured Dubz plus their own Osiris Music UK. The Kryptic Minds sound acknowledges the difference between edgy and too angry; that restraint often has more impact than chaotic release. This deft understanding of the tensions and contradictions buried within dubstep, and how you use them is played out yet further on their new album “One of Us,” due on Swamp 81. Whereas some albums try to cover many different moods, tempos and directions, the album zooms in on edgy 140bpm halfstep, forcing the listener into a headspace where perfectly placed details come into vivid focus, like the hyper‐real intensity of night adrenalin. Everything is taughtly coiled, as if priming the listener for a flight‐or‐fight reflex. The tension is barely unleashed throughout the album. Kryptic Minds, then just Si, first gained prominence in the drum & bass scene when Andy C’s Ram subsidiary Frequency released ‘The Truth’, quickly earning itself anthem status. The track’s success brought Si new creative opportunities: it was at this time Si and Leon Switch began a long and fruitful production partnership. Together the duo released tracks on some of the drum & bass scene’s flagship labels, such as Penetration, Renegade Hardware, Tech Freak, Freak Recordings, and Goldie’s seminal Metalheadz. They also established their own label Defcom Records, on which they released 27 singles, including ‘Take the Pain Away’ and ‘No Escape,’ as well as their debut album, the drum & bass opus “Lost All Faith.” 2007 saw it declared by ATM magazine as one of the best drum & bass albums of all time. It was also at this time they set up new label Osiris Music uk, to release a wide range of music. Inspired by Mala Digital Mystikz, Loefah and Burial 2008 saw the duo re‐discover their musical faith through dubstep, following the establishing of creative alliances with halfstep dons Youngsta and Loefah. One of Loefah’s classic’s “Root” received the Kryptic Minds remix treatment. They also played at one of dubstep’s most hallowed institutions, DMZ. The future’s dark, the future’s Kryptic Minds. Same o: http://www.myspace.com/sameodubstep Same O first started buying records at 14 after seeing a clip of grandmaster DXT scratching in planet rock. Starting off playing hip hop it wasn’t long until Same O discovered dance music. In mid 2006 Same O was introduced to dubstep through his friend AC23, playing him radio shows from the likes of Skream and N-Type. At first it was the comical element of the way that they hosted the shows that got him listening but it wasn’t long until Same O became completely immersed in the genre. Having Supported artists such as N-Type, Caspa, Distance, Scuba and Garage Pressure Same O started Melbourne’s first Dubstep radio station (Rollin Deep Radio) on Kiss FM. In 2009 Same O started with flow Dj Fooishbar one of Melbourne's most successful dubstep nights (Too Much!). Too Much has hosted the likes of Seven (UK), Gravious (UK), Lowqui (UK), Truth(NZ), L.D(UK), Coki (UK), Loefah (UK), MJ Cole (UK), Zed Bias (UK) and been involved in Melbourne's biggest Dubstep/Drum and Bass events BBA Bass Jump hosting the likes of Hatcha, Skream and Benga and Joker. http://www.dankmorass.com/ http://www.myspace.com/erther http://www.myspace.com/delahaye

Through DJing at such raves with acclaim LTJ Bukem naturally turned his hand to production. In 1990 he produced his first track "Logical Progression". Bukem soon grew frustrated with the lack of control over his own recordings, so in 1991 he formed his own label... Good Looking Records. Early goodlooking tracks like "Demons Theme", "Atlantis" and "Music" provided a soulful, melodic alternative to the prevailing hardcore tracks then in vogue. By 1994, LTJ Bukem had formed his second label... Looking Good Records and begun the formation of an artist collective including Peshay, Aquarius (aka Photek), Blame, Nookie & Tayla, — similarly inclined towards melodicism and epic expanses of sound. In 1994 Bukem also launched the legendary club night ‘Speed’ at the Mars Bar in order to promote goodlooking's approach to sound. With Bukem & Fabio spinning breakbeat records while MC Conrad provided verbal gymnastics, it soon became one of the most popular clubs in London. In 1996 the release of Logical Progression signalled goodlooking’s commitment to the jungle community providing shelter for a unique band of producers. In 1996 goodlooking introduced the Earth series of compilations. The Earth series showcases a range of mid-tempo musical styles from hip-hop, cosmic funk, and future soul, jazz and house music. The most recent volume – Earth 7 features a DVD with 5.1 DTS surround sound. 1998 saw the release of the first Progression Sessions mix CD. These live recordings capture the vibe of the Progression Sessions tours & residencies from around the world. Now in its 10th edition the Progression Sessions series documents the musical direction of goodlooking Records through the years and illustrates the live element brought to each event through the complimentary pairing of LTJ Bukem's music and the vocals of MC Conrad. Progression Sessions documents the emergance of drum & bass on a global scale.

Keeping company with the likes of Skream, Kulture and Joker, her sound has been described by BBC Radio1’s Mary Anne Hobbs as “a poetic take on dubstep”. In 2008, Kito returned from a self imposed hiatus, an intricate break which saw her developing her unique sound, on return, we were rewarded in fantastic fashion with her decisive tune ‘What If’. On hearing ‘What If’, Skream; the dubstep scenes number one artist; immediately identifying consummate talent signed the release and Kito’s ‘Cold’ to his label ‘Disfigured Dubz’ the start of the big events to follow. Following on the success of her first release, Skream has also picked up Kito’s most recent tracks for a huge EP including ‘LFO’ featuring the vocals of ‘Reija Lee’ and ‘On The Floor’, 'Don't wanna lose you' and a 'Vaccine' remix of Cold, tracks which have really catapulted Kito onto the worlds stage. DUST [Melb] http://www.myspace.com/dj_dust DJ Dust has been making waves around the Melbourne scene for nearly 8 years now and is one of the scenes most established players. Humble beginnings playing Hip Hop and drum and bass monthly at Black Cat and occasionally at the Lounge and her flawless and highly technical approach to mixing led to Dust supporting some of the biggest names in drum and bass and dubstep to grace our shores including Marky, Storm, Marcus Intalex, Doc Scott, Calibre, Klute, Grooverider, Die, Clipz, A Sides, Hudson Mohawke and Headhunter. Her consistency was rewarded with worldwide recognition by the organisations Junglist Sistaz and Hardstep Sistaz, inclusion into the mighty Elementz Sound collective and so many regular bookings that she was titled "Melbourne's First Lady of Drum and Bass" in a gig write-up. Dust has run International events with Joe Seven for Klute, Storm, Calibre & Mark Pritchard, Doc Scott & Marcus Intalex and also promotes local hip hop night Anytime with Joe Seven and Dan Loot and drum and bass night Polaroid with MC Lowqui, Joe Seven and Consequence. FIEND [Melb] http://www.myspace.com/deejay_fiend Dj Fiend was first bit by the DJ bug in 2002, fueled by a passion for Drum and Bass and encouraged by her older brother – a popular Drum and Bass DJ in her hometown of Brisbane. Starting her DJing career as a resident for the famed Krachmacher parties and later as a resident DJ for 40hZ parties at The Lounge and part of the Realtime crew DJ Fiend quickly became one of the most in-demand drum and bass DJs in Melbourne. Her killer dance floor oriented selection and tight mixing skills led to her supporting the likes of Storm, SS, Kenny Ken, Zinc, Ed Rush and Moving Fusion among others and playing gigs in Perth, Adelaide, Tasmania and Broome. After a brief hiatus to develop her career as a successful designer, DJ Fiend is back on the scene with a renewed enthusiasm for Drum and Bass as well as Dubstep and UK Funky.
