  1. I was under the impression bootcamp provided a virtual windows desktop. dissimilar to dual booting, in the sense that you can access a windows desktop at any time, while running OS X.
  2. theres no native version of FL for mac. The only way to do it, would be like Tomy said, and install it on Bootcamp. You could then ReWire it back into another native mac DAW if necessary.
  3. that midi controller synth, sampler thing is real Its the OP-1 made by Teenage Engineering
  4. im not sure that the 'mixer' button is freely mappable. if you're referring to katapult, you can use a range of buttons as faders, or an XY pad, toggle, pad switches, etc. I think the only way to use the 'mixer' button would be a custom app running in the background. something like Max4Live.
  5. I use mine for controlling loops and cue points in traktor. If you get a program called Katapult, you can create custom maps and designate what buttons do what, and the colours they light up. very handy.

  10. moar negs for me it seems. perhaps dennis the menace shouldnt delete his comments. its a forum ffs. let your roar be heard. too soft for the online world it seems. now, the issue at hand. once a windows laptop goes through a ton of optimisation and disabling of services/graphical enhancements/removal of unnecessary software both will perform the same. from where i stand (i work in IT/hate windows7/use windows xp for producing and run a macbook pro) i find OSX so much more pleasant to use. While both will crash (they're computers, its inevitable) I find OSX to be alot more tolerant and because Macs are uniform in their design, theres no need to worry about incorrect drivers or device incompatibility. My friend is running traktor pro on his xp laptop with CDJ400s. he need asio drivers to use them and after that, ran into all sorts of hassles with drivers and devices. we plugged them into my mac out of interest and after setting traktor up, that was it. no dramas. I plan to avoid windows laptops for good now, because of my experience with a macbook pro, compared to a windows one. While I still use windows xp at home for production, I'll avoid any other version, as its just bloatware full of unnecessary crap and unintuitive operation. Until microsoft puts out something thats as efficient as OSX, i remain a stubborn xp/OSX user. oh, and Have a nice day! only if ur the bomb squad
  11. why? too afraid to voice your opinion on the interwebs? maybe its because you realise that when it comes to DJing and performing live, Mac OSX will always outperform any windows version.
  12. The best place Cupe, would be somewhere like youtube. Its often handy to grab a free sample pack or something to help you create some sounds. Theres plenty of tutorials around and you'll learn quickly from watching someone explain/demonstrate the basics. Theres a very steep learning curve involved with Ableton and it will take a while to get your head around, but once you do, it becomes fairly straightforward. The biggest advantage to Ableton is its Sesson view which is typically used for performing live and DJing. Its a completely different methodology to standard DJing but you'll begin to see the benefits after a while.
  13. grrr i'd jump on that Audio8 if i could afford it atm.
  14. calm down bro. I've read the book so I thought i'd offer a bit of info on it. I'm happy to write a tutorial on something. even if it is just to get my rep back in the +ve
  15. thats what she said
