wot you saying pulse beat, needs a rinse 1st?

yeah that would get you from dex to software and back again, no failsafe to put the dex str8 thru tho. the headphone selectors are on the software. you set your software preferences to the correct routing (which on that thing would be the headphone out i guess) than the software has individual buttons to route one or other deck through that output, it's called cueing. I cant see where master out is coming from, unless you use laptops own soundcard which is likely to result in serious delay/lag/nightmare for mixing. IMO if you're going timecode get a dedicated soundcard with the software. If your using vinyl you'll have enough issues with your carts, needles, audio cables affecting calibration without your system adding to them.

just saw this: even tho the lad can only just scratch notice the red light going round and round the platter... that's what i was wondering about, that shows you where you are in each rotation so you can apply clock technique to sampling, cuts and scratches without having to look at screen. that puts pioneer back in the running for me.
-
big up, not been here long myself but reckon you're in the right place.

I'm seeing a lot of pics pop up with big name dj's using ipads as part of their set, does anyone know what for? I'm curious as hell. Facebooking babes. www.plentyoffish.com cant believe I actually followed that link to see who was doing what to ipads, durrr.
-
yeah that's a very nice tool, i love the aracade buttons, but need 4 channels for when i do want to expand at bigger gigs.
-
dude, people may have hooked up some sound cards to work timecode but you need a lot of in/out pathways: a stereo pair from each deck goes into the soundcard to feed the timecode signal to your computer. a stereo pair comes from your soundcard back to the mixer with the music from your laptop. a stereo pair is also useful to come to the mixer str8 from the decks (bypassing the soundcard) in case the laptop crashes. you also need master out pair from soundcard to speakers, and headphone out. You may get away with running some in mono. you may risk using it without the failsafe of having the decks str8 t mixer option (if you're at home this doesnt matter as no one will hear it crash). I dont know how the guys on yout tube did it, post the links maybe and we'll see what's going on there? p.s. behringer is pretty rubbish plastic toy, i have one, it is covered in dust, cant even sell it on. sorry to be a pain, hope this helps in the long run

yeah the 3700 is a good machine, but your right, it's not what i'm after, I still have 2 cdj 1000s with a pioneer djm909 in a custom built coffin case, or 2* 1210s with shure m447s if the mood takes me. I'll never sell those but i want something all in one and lightweight to take to gigs that aren't 100% important to me (ya know those cash in hand functions where you are playing songs you dont like to muppets you'd never party with, or do you guys have proper jobs too?)
-
yeah ns7 an option but i'm really looking for lightweight and cheaper. plus the ns7 has those motorised platters... which is just more to break in my eyes. all round controller is what i'm after, the middle of the road, the jack of all trades, one size fits all type of shit. anybody says ipod on shuffle and i'm getting my gun. lolz
-
i dont need to look that one up, i used to sell 'em. the cdj500s looked like it had fallen of the back of a dinosaur when it was popular back in the mid-90's. It was one of the main reasons vinyl junkies were right to insist that no real dj would ever use cd players. Then pioneer invented vinyl emulation on the cdj 1000s. You liking the s4 tho? do you scratch?

bwawhawheehaw. awesome88 and his denon mc6000... like the cat that got the cream! seriously: it is a top machine, i especially like the steel construction, but not the one for me as wont let me "dibby dibby", or is that "wigga wigga" cheers tho bro.

nice 1, was looking at them too, £300 more than the numark though. do you own one of these? does it have any way of compensating for the lack of the little screen on the platters themselves which show you where you are in each rotation? p.s. i know numarks rep for build quality, i used to work in retail chain in uk which sold all dj gear and so have a few contacts in the industry still. Looks like numark have done their homework quality-wise on the ns6 and ns7 so I'm not concerned it may be a toy.

anyone know a better all round controller than this: kids demo: salesmans pitch: Of course real turntablists use vinyl, but for those who dont want to skip or wear out precious choons is this the best all round option for software control with scratching but without all the weight of 2 technics/cdjs?
-
d'oh... post above for awesome 88 about his denon. sol dios you got in there just b4 me but hey: the comment about playstation was totally not for real mate. No dj would ever think they could learn anything from that dj hero surely? do you play call of duty and think you're hard? in cyperspace no one hears your sarcasm. you doing the right thing mate, kontrol vinyls and an x1 for triggering loops/fx etc = best of all worlds.
-
fair play, i'm no turntablist, I do a few juggles and like to transform + scribble but enjoy a cut mix too, learnt on vinyls, then transferred to cdjs so need something at least as responsive as them. After platter size and resolution most important of all is some indication on the controller that shows how close you are to the sample without having to look at laptop screen. Like we used to stick stickers to the vinyl in the old daze. If this is as good as it gets then the denon is not for scracthing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3Kga0snKGc wot a chump!
-
hmmm, ok actually looked a bit more at that denon thing. First i just moved on coz the platters look uncomfortably small for turntablisms but it has got a lot going for it. awesome88: do you scratch? how does it compare with cdjs? and how big are the platters? This denon is cheaper in uk than the numark ns6 which will be released mid april and looks like my best yet. always happy to save a bit of cash though, especially as the denon has more in/outs...

!! cheers for that... guess the sunshine does different things to your headz than terminal rain does to us! s'all good tho.
-
DIY mate. BTW: Whats with the emoticon people use with the condom on its head? is that some WHALE calling me a dick head?
-
i think that is the best option to anyway learning new, you'll get the best all round knowledge of how all works, and then be best set to decide which path to follow after. If you have a short attention span and dont like learning you may come unstuck by balancing carts, calibrating timecode, catalogueing tunes in the software, manually beatmatching etc etc. but if that were the case you'd have bought dj hero on the playstation wouldnt you? nice one sol dios.

good question, i wanna know who dennis is too? whoever he is i reckon the moderators are so paranoid about him we're all suspects!

mr chris hits the bullseye. like they are trying to make "itunes genius" actually useful. the more automated the process gets the less of us will get work: imagine a traktor or serrato rig that can sync everything flawlessly, mix repectably on "cruise" control and update it's own record box via these algorithms? Loads of venues will think it's great (cheaper, more reliable, never gets ripped), loads of punters wont notice the difference. Only those who know only humans can be inspiring will weep. Whats wrong with spending time in a record shop, talking to the staff, and keeping your ears open? i really gotta stop browsing these forums though, I'm sticking my nose in allover.

good stuff mate, variety is a good thing while experimenting/finding your style. about the small platters tho: it's not how many fingers you can get on it that matters, it's how much precision the disc can offer you. Just like the resolution of a telly screen, if the thing is bigger and the pixels are the same size then you get loads more pixles so more accuracy in the image. On a platter if the thing is smaller a movement of 1mm can be a whole beat of music, but if the platter is a proper size that beat can be manipulated through a few more mm. Might sound technical but trust me, it makes a difference. 12" vinyl clearly best for this, but as cdjs = no skipping and no wear to rare vinyl I made the change, anything smaller would kill me. wish i was your age and able to begin with all the options available to ya, must be amazing!

ha ha, as i said it aint my scene but glad to know the scums rep reaches round the world. man utd fans: you only sing when you're winning.
-
there's no issue with that mate. if your set up but they only want background tunes for the beginning of the evening (maybe coz folk are eating or just arriving still) it's much better to play them through your rig than have some other club/bar system playing. You just end up with having to communicate that it's time to swap over systems otherwise.
