  1. ooo... loud noises needed here sol,
  2. aww, i dont know that one karma. would it have the same effect on a wedding crowd as this: 48. Rage against the machine: killing in the name of
  3. if these are new and if retail works the same in oz as in uk check this: i used to work in a shop selling dj gear... they have a mark up on every unit but they follow a policy that measn they only need to make the mark up profit on one unit per sale. Although they are trying to get a profit on every piece of kit sold they actually normally settle for a profit for each sale made which means: if you can barter and barter with them you can often beat the price down so you pay the equivalent of full retail price for one unit but cost price on the other two units in the set up. This works especially well on dj setups at large retailers, small independent shops wont work this way. If this aint happening where you are at the very least if you buy a full dj set up (2 dex and mixer) you should expect a set of headphones and a 4-way power extension plus audio out cable thrown in free.
  4. Good skills vladpp, always love a jesus pose but.... at what point do you call the ambulance for the epileptic cousin and grandma who is 87?
  5. Youngmc-happymondays by djim this should maybe go in mobile dj thread!! just a few tunes put together at a party somewhen in the past. but any feedback welcome.
  6. hey sol, you know you have to let us all know how this gig went yeah?
  7. christ man, r u serious? i've had my beyer dynamic dt770 for reference monitoring for 6 years now but i've never had a set of dj cans last a year, never mind ten!! i dont mix in the phones, i like to listen to the speakers same as the punters hear. I use phones to beatmatch/prelisten and then i'm pretty much listening to the speakers while checking in cans by squashing them up to my ear quickly with my shoulder...i know this breaks the internal cable hence why i buy cheap cans and consider them a business expense. so it's: sennheiser hd 202/212 or akg k81, they pack flat, are loud enough to hear over a large P.A. and not too expensive.
  8. let me know if this is out of line coz i didnt start this thread... also havent heard of a few of the songs on here (22, 27, 30, 32, 33) but anyway i took the liberty of shuffling these a bit, this could actually work as a set at a function i think. 9. fookin hate the kooks, fookin hate to be at this wedding anyway, not sure how much of these whalery tunes would work in the uk, do they really work in oz? have we lost sight of the original aim of the game? or is time for: sweet child of mine - guns n roses
  10. hey eggs, its true old bean for sure, but karma has never set up turntables, we were talking about how to approach cart balance, tone arm height, anti skate etc... i was just recommending he use some old vinyl while sorting that bit b4 he tries to add TSP to his mix. are there any links on here he could follow? surely cupe has covered setting up technics b4?
  11. is the correct answer
  12. aye, it aint hard, just do it in the right order. I used to work in a dj eqpt shop and we'd get idiots asking for money back on traktor when the issues they were getting were becasue they hadnt set up there carts properly in the 1st place and shit. plenty more knowledge available nowadays.
  13. good 4 u. get some beat up old vinyl to use just to check your getting signal and to use to balance your cart, set tone arm height etc. This process is v likely to cause scratches to vinyl so dont use your favs. oh and in case no one told you yet: the big chunky thick rubber slipmat on each deck belongs in the bin, get some dj friendly slipmats unless your 2nd hand purchase came with those.
  14. u mean: never used vinyl, never used a slipmat, never set up a cartridge, never set tone arm height, never set tracking, never balanced counter weight, never wired up soundcard, never used timecode... ...never run before you can walk. ... never believe people who say they dont read the manuals if i were you i'd take it slow and be sure you know what you've done... too many fools rush in then cant remember what steps they took so cant rectify. lookin fwd to seeing your thread karma, should be a rite laff!
  15. NI 4 or NI8 soundcard so you can use the timecode from your vinyl. you get one or other when you buy traktor anyway. like djaz said: set up timecode via soundcard and use s4 for the extra dex in traktor, thats a phat rig mate. serato/traktro differences are matter of taste IMO but if you have an s4 already it wont be nice to serato so def go traktro route.
  16. haha, my sister rebecca black just tried to write a poem innit. p.s. looks like a nice set of techs on the i just bought thread mate.
  17. yes mate, ns 7 = vinyl feel with no skipping! shame they cant recreate that vinyl warmth yet via an fx ey?
  18. dunno mate, it seems to only ship with a controller, they have worked hard at making hardware + software work together so you basically pick a controller you like and get itch with it. The list of hardware options is here http://serato.com/itch but I'm in uk so no idea how they'll get priced for you.
  19. hahaha if thats famous i'll stick to cunnilingous!
  20. word. it's only a matter of time b4 tech reaches a point where people recognise that a cd player is just a platter with a few buttons, no different to a controller really excpet you have to keep finding the song you want on CD discs. but vinyl... warm, fuzzy, delicate, analogue, lovely vinyl.... i'd write a poem if a was a bit more of a cunning linguist.
  21. the pioneer units are in shops, but the numark one which looks like better build quality, better platter response and cheaper hasn't landed yet. And lets not forget after this first flurry of controllers with real vinyl emulation we can expect upgrades and mark II versions in the not too distant future. Of course if you want a modular set up you'd choose cdjs over controllers, just like years ago if you wanted to be a real dj you'd choose technics over cdjs. I'm just saying that when new products arrive they can turn things on their head in ways people never expected. eg) i wonder if 15 years ago tiesto and armand ever thought they'd be using cdjs in clubs?
  22. teehee. bad example for reasonable point... should have said more about the crappy plastic overpriced pionneer ddjt which really looks they are cashing in on the reputation of their cdjs. but didnt want to swing things into a controller/cdj debate. ...that will be a new thread posted about 30seconds after the latest generation of units gets into the shops.
  23. although the sentiment here is basically spot on it's worth noting that money doesnt always reflect on quality, gold plated technics are no better than standard dex, and the newest range of numark controllers are very high build quality but priced reasonably, unlike pioneers attempt at the controller market. I remember the battle lines drawn up when pioneer released the cdj 1000 back when technics 1210 were industry standard. there was a lot of teething for many djs to make the switch, it could all happen again now controllers are upping their game. Armed is right: pioneer are industry standard becasue they are the best... but the only thing certain in life is change so dont take it for granted that they'll always be at the top of their game.
  24. is that why they call you karma then? lol nice 1 buddy
