For speakers, it might just be best to hire them, (I would of if I realised you could /facepalm) from a store near me I can hire 2 RCF 500w 15" rms speakers at $110 for the night, and if your charging something like $310, thats still $200 in the pocket. if you wanted to buy speakers, for $800 you can get 2 audioline 15" powered 400w peak speakers + tripods + cables for $800, someone else here has them and can tell you there VERY good for what you pay for them. Great depth and are very loud. They loose abit of base if you put them on the tripods but other than that there pretty good and easily get the job done

DIBS, also, in personal experiance, no matter how good mixer you have, its useless if your there rocking out mixing, but nothing to play it back with, so SPEAKERS EVERYONE C: for starting off, id recommend a pair of audio line (yes I realise everything I seem to recommend is audioline) 15" powered pa speakers. you can get them for about $800 including tripods at jbhifi and will do great for someone starting off, there fantastic sounding speakers!

newbies better watch out though, as soon as i am experienced il be throwing myself through there living room windows armed with a bag of cataloges.

Going good, I mumbled some of the parts so im re doing them, also Im changing the topic to "buying gear" and no, im not recomending an mdex 3, although I do say I got it because I wanted to know if I achy liked and had a talent for it, and not end up spending over a grand on something I dislike. But Im still going to recommend 2 cd'djs and a mixer if there serious about it. thats one of the things I dislike about my audio line, you cant swap in and out bits and pieces of it :/ and if it dies, im screwed (I can play from my laptop, but I might as well just stand there and jesus pose for 5 hrs)
