  1. The fact that diplo is tied with pauly D makes me sick, he doesn't really deserve anything let alone $13m.
  2. Oh wow. Can't really say I've had any bad gigs, just really boring ones.
  3. That sounds actually like a pretty good plan, next machine will probably be a hackntosh or get a 4.1 perhaps end of next year so il buy the best reasonably priced card I can atm. Edit: what mac pro was yours mitch?
  4. Some gaming (will be dual booting with win 8 pro). Mostly garrys mod, league of legends and the odd game like bioshock infinite. (So not that hard). Would be nice to be able to get 40fps or so on "high" settings @ 2560x1440 Will also be used for some minor game dev with unity and maya. That's why im thinking towards the 660/7950 but I dont want to get it and find it only uses like 50% of it cause the cpu is a bottleneck.
  5. http://osxhackers.com/ There's a lot of 404's but all the downloads work. Heaps of people have found other ways to force it on there, so it can be done. Yeah the 7950's are beast, I'm just wondering if its worth getting anything faster than a 570 because my cpu is a pretty big bottleneck. E.g. 200kph engine in a car that can only go as fast as 150 ect kind of thing.
  6. Hey guys, so I'm running a mac pro at the moment and will be upgrading the graphics card, but the cpu is quite old and cant be upgraded much further at all. Because of this I don't want to be buying lets say a 660ti only for it to be as fast as a 570 when I could have just got a 570 and saved some money. My main two choices are these: Gainward 570: $150 Asus gtx 660 ti: $220 Now my problem is this, my cpu's (Dual cpu's) I am currently running are Xeon 5150 @2.66 ghz. Will a 660 ti be too fast for this? will I not see that much increase in performance from the 570? (Yes they both do actually work, 5xx series cards work on 10.7.5 and I can force 10.8.3 on to grab the nvidia drivers for the 6xx series. The only downside of this is I lose boot screens but it's not a big issue)
  7. veeeeeeelcom
  8. COUGHCOUGHKRKRIPOFFCOUGHCOUGH. IMO they will be like the pioneer headphones, while there not bad, everyone will see the other better options on the market.
  9. So one piece of machinery I have been meaning to write up about lately is the SCS 2900. Looks nice huh? But what if I told you it also had full rekordbox like support (In the form of engine) as well as hot cues, jog wheel tension adjust as well as auto loops AND hot cues? Nice ehy? especially when you can pick up an open box version for $719, or $800 brand new. There has been some debate lately as to if these are a pioneer killer? and in some ways, YES, but in other ways not at all. In comparison to the cdj 850's and 900's, yes, this knocks them out the park. Mainly due to the fact that they are CHEAPER than 850's and give you the features of 2000's in a 900 body. Seriously. But in comparison to the cdj 2000, it doesn't quite cut the mustard. Sure it has all the same features, but the main let down is the screen, although you can use an ipad to have a full 10.1" screen to load tracks to both decks. CDJ enthusiasts like the joy of having no big major screen. Denon have done very well with this unit in the mid range market, and good on them for actually giving us a viable alternative. However they have let us down abit in the pro standard. Denon staff, if you ever read this, you have a great opportunity to rise above the competition, even if it makes your prices a little higher you could still rise to top of the market. TLDR; #Great unit, great price, doesn't quite beat the 2000's. #Someone needs to knock pioneer pull there fingers out there ass and increase there build quality, instead of flooding the market with all these ridiculous models.
  10. generally most it stores that work with apple should be able to do it, yes you can use the ssd as your primary and there is no speed limitation, the cd drive uses the same speed sata as the HDD. If your going to be using it alot, id recommend upgrading to the 15" pro as the screen real-estate (You know what im trying to say) does help alot. Even if it means downgrading to an i5 my 13" pro with 4gb ram and i5 can pretty much handle anything I throw at it.
  11. I didn't know I had a brother.
  12. 4 year bump, dude check your pm's and the thread saying to stop bumping.
  13. This thread was also from a year ago.
  14. Please stop bumping aahhhh. This thread was from 1 year ago
  15. Pretty sure he got that acer one right? he had it at the meet
  16. people still buy ddr2. I am currently buying ddr2
  17. Whats with all the thread revivals.
  18. At schools we just use backup tapes, reliable, heavy duty and heaps of storage. I really just cant see the point
  19. I really dont see the point, please just replace cd's with cheap usb's already.
  20. So after almost a year of ownership and a lot of gigs with the device, I feel now I can write a proper review on it. Design, Shell & Feel: The design of the ns6 is really solid for a Numark device, with 80% of the body being metal (20% being the jog wheels, buttons and knobs). Everything from the EQ section knobs to the play and cue buttons is just spaced out enough to give you room to move whilst mixing. The jog wheels are super accurate, and feel much like a smaller version of the 900’s jog wheels (Tension and pitch bend wise). The pitch faders are also long like Cdj’s, so people who like to beat match (Like myself) will feel right at home. My only complaint really is the material of the top of the jog wheel, as it scratches quite easily. This kind of goes against the sturdy feel the rest of the controller gives off, really just a pet peeve than an actual issue though. Dedicated filters would be nice, but there not 100% necessary I guess. Software: The software really makes this controller; I have been running itch 2.0.3 on lion 10.7.5 and have NEVER had an issue with dropouts/crashes/ect, EVER. Everything works exactly as it should, the iTunes integration with playlists works spot on exactly as it should. I may also add that I have also been able to download songs off my tethered Wi-Fi, then drag and drop the songs onto the decks with no issues or dropouts what so ever. The only thing I can see wrong with it is the beat detection (putting markers on each beat) is never spot on, however the auto BPM readout is always perfect. This means you WILL need to know how to beat match on this controller, (Which you probably should know how to do anyway), as sync will not work. Mixing: Mixing on the ns6 is pretty much flawless, not much to say as everything functions exactly as it should, however there is one issue that is a deal breaker. Although there is two LED indicators showing the volume level, this is for the overall volume and NOT each channel. In fact, there is no individual level indicator for each channels volume anywhere! Not even in the software. This means unless you have super precise ears and can easily tell the difference through your headphones, one track will almost always be a little/moderately louder than the other. I have not delt with Serato dj yet, as I feel it needs some work before it is ready to be used professionally. So I am totally unaware if this fixes the issue. TLDR; Sturdy, robust, well spaced, great software, let down by no dedicated filters and NO INDIVIDUAL LINE LEVELS. 6/10 stars
  21. Personally I like your case a lot, not much wrong with mid towers. next purchase imho is the liquid CPU cooler that I linked last post
  22. My mates got the full tower version of yours and its absolute boss 22c at max load. He uses this water cpu cooler. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai ... s_id=22315 So good, life span is so long and no maintenance! Edit: The full tower he has is still on special. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai ... s_id=19386 Personally I prefer this one and its cheaper though. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai ... s_id=16228
