whenever id go to a party or something my mates would always make me bring music, so i thought hey i could do this as a profession.

for 500 your pushing it i recently offloaded a pair of 200s with sticky cues for 300. so think about decent ones wil be atleast 500 itself.

im not fully integrated into the live performance part yet.

This is the setup i currently use for using ableton live at parties: i have my two speakers hooked up to my 2 channel mixer. then i run my my laptop and my mpd26 through an audio8 soundcard and into one of the channels in the mixer. So what im getting at is replace my mpd26 with an akai apc40 and you are set. the launchpad is okay but it has no knobs or faders so its a very VERY simplistic setup. also check the mixers/boards section for my latest thread about a cool idea for an ableton controller.

it's true that relying on sync isn't great. i think you should get cdjs to learn the fundamentals first then when you can beatmatch use sync if you'd like and you can concentrate on other things
