The Lemur for iPad is a very creative and intuitive way to control your software with your iPad (or iPhone). It's touch screen interface is extremely accurate and rarely (never happened for me but i assume it may) shows any sign of lag. Major stadium-touring acts use Lemur on stage. The original hardware version was introduced to the public in 2004 and Lemur software now benefits from nearly 10 years of development. These are just two of the reasons Lemur is the name cited when talking about multitouch control. - Liine's Website. Set up: [8/10] Set up was a breeze but i can see some inexperienced computer users struggling a bit. Design: [10/10] The design is by far the best feature of this program. You can download other user's templates from around the globe and the fact that you can build your own way of playing really appeals to me and i'm sure it would to you too. The Lemur is diverse and will always be changing which means it should always be able to find a spot in your setup. Performance: [9/10] Coming into this i wasn't to sure what to expect i had not had good experience with touch screen controllers in the past but the Lemur really delivers. It doesn't feel like an app it feels like a professional piece of music performance software which is what it is. Cost: [?/10] The Lemur app costs around $50 AUD and for me it was a small price to pay for a good piece of software, others may be different and i gave this a ? because i will leave that up to you to decide. Overall thoughts: [9/10] The Lemur is a direct port over from the original piece of hardware (Jazz Mutant Lemur) and it is a perfect fit. For what it is, and what it does, it does it damn well. At first i never thought i could use something like this in my setup but as i build the templates and modules for the Lemur it slowly takes away responsibility from my other controllers rendering them useless in my setup. It has benefited from over 10 years of development and updates and really shows that touch screen controllers could start becoming a lot more popular in the near future. Buy this app if you: 1. Have an iPad 2. Want to try a unique, fluent and intuitive way of controlling your software 3. Can fork out $50 on a program 4. Like being able to design your own way of playing Enjoy

Gonna be a rare find if you grab one of these off here man probably better off checking on the dj tech tools forums

Yeah it shouldnt be because the software for the lemur allows you to create your own interface which is very handy

Nice grem also good idea to take the cds as well. My last gig was last weekend at a mates girlfriend's surprise party that my mate threw at his house. Pretty much all around 17-19 year olds dressed in cocktail theme and sloshy as fuck by the end of the night. My cousin played before me from 8-10 then my mate had a run for an hour then i finished the night off from around 11-12 it was crazy hey everyone was like naked by the end of it. Had an S4/Macbook Setup + Ableton/Macbook setup + SCS4DJ all connected to a djm800. My mates house is huge to and it was in his pool room, perfect setup. It cost him 1500 for drinks for everyone and it was free I finished the night with my own version of november rain and it went off i have a video ill try upload. Great night

Thanks guys i've recently changed my mappings and been playing around a lot with it, I will post a review soon. One thing i would like to work with is making this work along side a launchpad that would be pretty cool i think
-
Tried it and it worked fine thanks
-
I think it would just be another learning curve. Just like when we all first started to learn to beatmatch
-
Um it's 8.3 I think I'll check when I get home

The thing is there are sub classifications for every kind of performance. You can integrate the bridge for serato and ableton so what are you doing? Are you djing? Or are you performing?
-
Your approach to this is not only ignorant but you also couldn't be more wrong my friend. Daft punk, skrillex, deadmau5, girl talk just to name a few producers/performers who aren't DJ's perform live in clubs using their laptop setup. We have entered a new age where music can be performed off a laptop and not everyone who plays an electronic dance music style set is considered a "DJ". A "DJ" in my opinion is someone who uses cdjs, vinyls or some kind of 2-4 deck mixing setup to perform a live show. But where does the line get drawn? Have you seen deadmau5's ableton setup? Or daft punks? They are incredibly complex and personally I could not consider that djing BUT it is okay because they put on a hell of a show. Long rant short I believe the phrases DJ and producers will be gradually integrating into some grey area what I would like to see is djs and producers whether they use vinyl, ableton, touch screen etc. all coin the phrase 'performer'. /rant

It is already accepted by world wide producers and performers look up the jazz mutant lemur. Deadmau5 justice daft punk are just a few artists who use the system it is roughly the size of an iPad and works a charm.

Pair of headphones for production/the occasional gig.
legunner replied to legunner's topic in Accessories etc.
The outside of my war hurts because the leather doesn't seem to like my ears. Ill give the hd25s a look thanks guys -
Hi guys need a pair of headphones that dont hurt my ears like the xd53s I'm not looking at something top of the line just looking at some cheap basic studio type headphones, ones i can wear for hours on end while i edit my work.

Omg omg omg it's nearly Sunday!
-
Excited to see how this goes!
-
This looks cool but i'd rather run something like ableton with this not traktor or vdj the lack of tactile controls would be a pain
-
Hmm interesting but i am working with sets not just audio tracks but that is a good way to do it.
-
I'm not sure my kind of stuff would be appropriate to join with some of the other guys stuff here but good luck bro
-
like when i make a mashup instead of just consolidating all the clips i've chopped in arrangement mode how can i jsut highlight them and join them without the loss of audio quality?
-
I have a bunch of samples lined up and i'd like to join them together for performance purposes How could i do this WITHOUT losing audio quality?
-
tbh looks like you're doing everything right man

Not everyone who plays in a club is a DJ. Not everyone who plays in a club WANTS to be called a DJ. imo it's about putting on a good show, i don't care if you beatmatch or not. I can beatmatch easily on cds but i chose to use Ableton and a controller and i don't see anything wrong with it. If you chose to use vinyls or cdjs and manually beatmatch that's cool too but it shouldn't give you a sense of self entitlement/rant

Ditch the Kaossilator and chose whether you wanna DJ or Produce (just to start) If you decide to Dj try looking around and finding cupes lovely thread about begginers gear If you decide to produce then download ableton, FL Studio, acid pro, reason, Logic, pro tools etc. Do some google/youtube searches on these programs and see which one you like.
