  1. numark decks are good well atleast the top of the range ones
  2. i'd be more interested in who voted against
  3. come on remember mambo number 5 it was played over and over again and it stayed in the number 1 for 2 years
  4. all radio stations are the same just catering to a different generation of people, they're all shit in their own way radio presenters are always trying to copy other people's shit or talk on the same subjects and blah blah blah hey wait a minute i can talk shit for hours on end maybe i should work in radio. but seriously radio stations have tracks done to death not by themselves but by the listeners that call up requesting the songs over and over again
  5. i'm serious at the moment jb hifi and derringers are cornering the market for dj equipment, alot of people here just go out and spend big money on a set of decks but really only ever play around with it. i'd work there if you did! i get heaps of people ask me to teach them all the time and i don't think i'm that good but even when i'm having a shit night and things are just a little or a lot off they still think it's good, so there is money to be made
  6. not in adelaide, it's a pain i really want a decent dj store to open in adelaide derringers is shit they charge way too much, mtme doesn't sell that much in the way of club standard stuff and it's a pokey little store nothing against it though
  7. 500's are really good very lucky to find a brand new one though, if anyone does hear of 1 let me know
  8. what brand is it? if you are talking about a pioneer efx1000 it's a grteat piece of equipment for doing mad rythmic effects. the rrp price was around 900 then it went up to 1250 and then pioneer decided to put the price up again, also these units are primarily designed for use with the djm1000 which has no effects on the mixer but can be setup to have an effects unit for each channel
  9. ok thanks heaps for this atleast i was on the right track with the ideas i have in my head. again thanks heaps for the info i've got a lot of ideas but am often quite unsure if the decisions i'm making are along the right path (legality wise/making sure i don't get fucked over)
  10. welcome friend, you're certainly someone i'd like to pick the brain of one day
  11. ok so i've been looking at venues across adelaide slowly but surely finding a few good ones, now i want to visit with the venue owner and discuss starting a monthly night with him/her, what are the things i need to discuss with them i know a rough outline such as their entertainment license, the cost of venue or admission and drinks costing, payment for us (the dj's), maximum occupancy, security, staff, is there anything i've missed? this all comes down to how well this saturday goes with the venue for a private party.
  12. cool so i really am just in need of a break, that's good thanks guys, been doing this for 2 years now and am only starting to get discouraged now i'm at the stage where the only things i'm learning is playing with different sequences of effects working delay's reassigning roll to another channel, started looking into midi functions and that blew me away but can't do anything with that until i get a laptop
  13. it's funny like that, the duke of york has three dj area's upstairs(has a proper dancefloor & cdj setup), beer garden(haven't been there long enough to look around), and the front bar area which has a pokey little card table with cdj100s and some dodgy mixer and this guy is playing requests. i think venue owners are starting to realise they can make alot of money just by having a couple of cd players rather than buying a huge setup
  14. yeah don't smoke, doesn't do bad things but not good things either, i'm hoping that after saturday (mates 21st) and then monday (we love sounds) i'll feel more in the groove again. i'd love to fall back to production but can't find my fruity loops cd so for now the only production is in my head and on paper( only rough representation of sounds not actual notes)
  15. hey all, what do you do when you hit one of those flat spots and start to wonder if it's all worth it? have hit one of these lately i think i'm putting to much time into mixing behind closed doors and need to mix out in the public again, i've been spending between 1-4 hours a day mixing and have started to not enjoy it i like the mixing time and i've started experimenting more but... just really at a flat spot, what does everyone do to get past these moments
  16. i agree, but in what format do you use you cd's/dvs, to clarify cd's burnt as cd audio or data using wav or mp3, dvs- mp3 or wav
  17. i use both, prefer cd's for all the added easy to use functions (looping, cue point memory) vinyl has a nice warm sound but there is alot more to go wrong with for general use (static build up, dirt, needles, unbalanced tone arms) it is definately more of an art to use vinyl than cd (from a crowd perspective) but the same can be said about dvs
  18. this is how i look at it; unitl there is an international governing body they won't be able to do anything for international copyright, they wouldn't start deporting dj's left right and centre
  19. holy shit that's a lot of instruments, you could clone yourself and form a band, and you'll always be playing on the same page
  20. had to change this i was stupid and didn't read the faq on the site looks really good i'm glad they provide music in several types of formats, even though i'd only use 1 or 2
  21. signed up bit confused on the layout of the site but i'll get my head round it
  22. yeah music!! woo! welcome
  23. yeah i'm going to be going to sae soon that's my main reason for starting this discussion cos they recommend having a mac but the course costs plus the cost of a mac are a bit much to grin and bear
  24. there was a clip of a really early dj using tapes... can't find it now not quite the one i was looking for but
  25. ah i see... i like to have things just a little lower than where that's sitting on you. a mates brother has his mixer on an angle and his decks at roughly between shoulder and bottom of chest height and he's roughly the same height as me. your setup looks heaps better with you as a comparison next to it ( gives it more of a scale)
