That will be sick. But as "he said it mostly as a promotional tactic" it kind of starts to validate my suspicion that the whole rusko/mad decent feud was just a marketing ploy. Either way it got huge publicity so big ups to them and big ups to rusko if he pulls through with free tunes.

Ah yeah I see what youre saying now, when I think of distorted kicks the first thing that comes to mind is hardcore so I was a little thrown off when you said Flying Lotus ya know. I think you're right that a lot of it comes from the style and how its mixed and if there is any distortion on it, it is really subtle. Personally I think its from compression just listening to the back end of the kick but I'm no expert. Any hip hop guys have any input?

Yeah the subs were pretty badly translated. No effort put into it for anyone outside Germany really. One of my buddies and I kicked back some beers and watched it without subtitles and tried to guess what they were saying. Even without understanding German I thought it was a pretty sick movie Overit, that documentary looks like its going to be really interesting, keep us posted!

So I'm looking to step up from a controller to cd players and stop using a computer. I really just play for enjoyment and looking around it seems like a low cost model would be prime for my skill level with cdj's (zero) and would obviously fit my budget better. Taking all that into account I am leaning toward the Gemini 210's and even though they are out of production I still found a bunch of them on the market. I'm wondering if anyone has had these or used them or even just has any suggestions.

I used to use myspace to keep up with artists all day, it was the sickest for sure. Outside of that it got weird really fast. If my boy JT pulls this off it will be the greatest internet comeback story of all time

Couldn't agree with you more. It used to be pretty easy to make connections and have productive dialogue with people over your/their work and really have some communal sharing instead of kids just trying to fill their comment bar. Same thing happened with dubstepforum

Sometimes the displayed amount of plays a track has is delayed a bit but it wouldn't be surprising if it was bots or just really persistent kids. Ive seen profiles that are following like 30,000+ people and others where they post 1000 of the same spam comment on different tracks but that's really nothing new. Either way though, more favs and comments makes you look cooler

Purely talking about the music, I stand by what I said. Dude sounds like a dickhead from looking into it more though and I guess (for me) sheds some light on the review which makes some good points about how if you look at his attitude its questionable what his motives are for doing what he does. Personally I think this could have been two separate articles, a review and a character critique. If you're going to do an album review you should check any emotions and preconceptions of the artist at the door and give it an honest listen. This guy probably legitimately hates the album but it sounds like he was pretty determined to hate it anyways just because of who Deadmau5 is.

Haha wow that is a pretty brutal review. I don't really follow Deamau5 at all but after that I had to check it out and after a listen I think this review is a little exaggerated. Seems like people have a lot of hate for the guy seeing as how people do associate him with EDM in general but then he goes and shit talks everything. Regardless, if he didn't have such a big name I don't think this album would be a huge standout or anything. I dunno man, it just seems to me like as soon as someone gets recognized by the mainstream they're fucked and it doesn't really matter what they put out, people are gonna put it down. Styles are going to change and I think a classic example (though not EDM) is Metallica, there is absolutely no similarity between Kill em All and the Black Album and while the latter was a HUGE success many of their grassroots fans were turned off. Even "Fade to Black" of all things was labeled as a sell-out track and they got a lot of hate for it. Little bit of a side track but I guess what Im trying to say is that I don't think he deserves as much hate as he gets.

hahaha I hate that sample so much but that picture is classic lil more serious though you can bring down the decay and sustain on your sub to get that thumping trunk slapper bass that tapers off
