Thierry D - Deep Down under Ep - Out Now
SweetIshDub replied to Thierry's topic in Drum'n'Bass & Jungle
Very nice EP man, all solid tracks. Pure LaziNess is my fav of the lot -
Sweet thanks for the insight guys. Makes me feel better that turns out I was at cd frequency. Looking into it the sample frequency shouldnt affect the synth I was stumped on as noticeably as it does or in the way i thought it did but eff it, it sounds more brutal in 44.1k anyways

So I have always produced at a sample rate of 44,100 hz because a lot of articles I read said it was plenty fast for audio quality and is conservative for cpu usage. Just for fun I upped one of my projects to 96,000 hz and it made a considerable difference in my gnarlier synths making them sound a lot clearer in the high end while taking away from the lows. I am guessing it is because the wavelengths were essentially doubled in length by the lower sample rate but it is really tripping me out. Does anyone have any input into this? Have I been a huge scrub this whole time using a lower sample rate?

Haha im glad mang! Those are my fav parts too

Was browsing through the Weapons of Choice thread, among others, and found it pretty interesting to see what everyone is using. I think it would be pretty cool to create a list/discussion of all the pros and cons of software that we have experience with and why you use what you use. For example Toxic Biohazard Pros -Six wave generators -Ability to load your own custom waveforms -64 step sequencer -Easy FM synthesis. Waveforms can be put into FM with any other waveform allowing for a ridiculous amount of combinations. Not a unique feature to TB but Its definitely a selling point for me. -Unison and individual wave atck/rel/dec/sus, detune and sterio width -Relatively inexpensive compared to others. Typically goes for about $50 during the Image-Line holiday sale. -Hipster appeal, not too many people are vocal about using it Cons: -While each waveform/mod wheel/pitch wheel can be individually assigned to an LFO, there are only two LFO's available -LFO tempo sync is pretty bad. It counts the beat from wherever you press play in your project and not from when its midi note begins so unless you started playback exactly on beat, the LFO tempo will be off. While this is somewhat minor, the 3/4 and 3/8 tempo syncs also have a pretty large rounding error and go off beat within a few bars. -Limited effects to select from: phaser, reverb, delay and lofi. Each of the four is pretty bare bones as well for example there is no low shelf filter on the reverb. -Limited pre loaded waveforms. I think there are less than 20 which is plenty to work with when you have unlimited FM combinations but lacking compared to other products out there. My take on it: I bought it two years ago because of the price and it looked badass but I still use it today because of the FM interface. I have found it pretty good stand alone for pads and atmospheres but not so much for gnarly bass leads. It definitely needs a ton of work in the effects chain but can provide a solid preliminary sound. While the LFO situation is a pain in the ass, I ended up abandoning trying to use it early on and it got me in the habit of never using any LFO's and automating EVERYTHING in the project which I actually prefer now.

^^^^ im actually still sitting on fl studio 8 ! lol dude right on. And I totally agree with you about Image-Line being customer friendly Gandy, another plus I forgot to mention is the support forum on their website. Ive asked questions there multiple times and always within about a half hour had a helpful response from an Image-Line rep. Im sure the other providers have something like this too though but I have just had really good experiences with their customer service.

Ive had this one in my car for so long now and it gets me pumped up every time man, excellent track -
First draft of a tune Ive been working on. Just gotta find some vocal samples and add some variation but any suggestions would be much welcomed http://soundcloud.com/eriksteinholt/respek-preliminary-cut

Busta Rhymes Break ya neck (Duz drumstep mix)
SweetIshDub replied to Duz's topic in Drum'n'Bass & Jungle
This is sick man, Busta Rhymes fits it perfectly especially when the synth matches the vocals at 2:40. Awesome outro too -
Nice man good luck with deciding. From what Ive heard ableton is the leader for audio clip manipulation which might give it a one up for what youre trying to do but Image-Line does have an amazing tutorial base and like you mentioned, free updates for life is pretty sick. Havent updated to the new FL live yet but it looks pretty cool.

For the most part I made a new profile because I'm cheap and don't want to pay for more minutes and also don't want to take any tracks off my Sweetish page. I also just kind of wanted a fresh start, make music 100% for fun, share with friends and go off the grid to not get all that "lyke omg check out my song" BS
