Sorry, second and last time I swear. DJ name is Elsamchez. Muy Bien!
-
Mine has been changed again, to El-Samchez Basically I dress up in a lot of costumes and had been at a house party as a mexican and introducing myself as Samchez in spanish. El meaning 'The' and Sanchez being a common last name in Mexico my name is 'Sam' so it was a natural progression. I had a few drinks and the organiser for a gig coming up asked what my name was as he was having the artwork done that week. Needless to say the answer was El-Samchez. I registered a domain so I would have to commit. Best thing to do is to make it relevant to yourself. That way when people call you by your stage name it's not awkward and you can respond to it naturally.

Just do audio, and then transcribe it when you are hosting it

Linux is a step forward. There is a good reason why a truck load of web servers use it as their base OS.

The vast majority of websites are using scripts or code that other people have written. I haven't written a lot of Jquery or anything like that, just modified existing scripts to suit my needs. As for html and css I can help you with it if you need, but I need to know what you want help with. Send me a PM if you like Just a tip straight off the bat though, get notepad ++ or similar. It will help you with coding by colouring tags and as such.

Absolutley from what i can see. However, i can get around something like that with the missus, and once she see's i am actually having a red-hot go, and making good progress, then it will be a lot easier to talk her into letting me get a good controller (Or decks!). I'd love the S4 that was suggested, but she'd kill me if i spent $1,000 plus on kit at this point. have seen some other cheap-ish "all in one" packs. just trying to figure out my best options. The Hercules are very small. Perhaps something like a Numark Mixtrack would be better suited. They come for around $270 with Traktor LE. Something good to begin with at a more reasonable price. That said I haven't used one, but from what I hear good bang for your dollar. Anyone else have thoughts on it?
-
Hey mate, What you are talking about is a Controller. Basically it plugs into your PC and works in conjunction with software. As long as you have a laptop/PC to hook into this is a good way to start off. Have a look here https://www.storedj.com.au/categories/Digital-DJ This will be a bunch of different controllers that you can use. I wouldn't buy directly from store dj unless they have a good price or sale, but use it as a guide. Depending on how much you have to spend, I would go for a S4 (https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NI-KNTRLS4) if you are definately wanting a controller. Brilliant equipment/ software combo

Depends on how you plan on running it. If it is setup in a timecode, then you can use most. Also if your CD player has HID/Midi then most likely yes. However traktor does not have mappings for ALL CD players. Meaning you would have to midi map your CD player as a controller for it to work, which is a pain and can be problematic.
-
You can only connect 850's to traktor using them as a midi controller. The tsi file for mapping was only released last month. If you plan on being reliant on traktor/software I would choose something else, because the HID/Midi works but is prone to problems/features not working. That said, if you are happy mixing with CD's/usb keys/sd cards over using traktor, they are quite good.

It's just a bitch getting a Mac onto a windows domain, and working, how the client wants it to work. Not to mention the real estate programs won't work no doubt. Harder to implement, harder to support.. Not worth it. This and not to mention - depending on the database they are running it would be difficult. At a guess the current server, if it is indeed 5 years old, will be running server 2003. Most real estates use programs that have sql or oracle databases. As you have already started doing - outsource it. Then if it does go wrong it's not on you.

I'm sure Lion will be sick, but currently it has limited support from a lot of perspectives. DJing and music production I am not so sure of issues that have arrisen yet. I know that xerox currently don't have supported print drivers for a lot of the big MFC's they supply which is an issue if you are a designer and are constantly needing to print high res and as such. That said, this always happens with new versions of an OS. Back in the initial stages of 10.6 they were lacking a lot of exchange and LDAP functions. TL;DR wait for a release or two if you don't want to get frustrated.

[MELB] Moonee Valley Freeza Battle CALL FOR DJs!
Elsamchez replied to Petey_G's topic in Competitions, Battles & Collabs
Just after a bit of clarification - On the link you posted it states So as far as DJing goes, it means someone over 21 (if it is a solo DJ/Producer) were to apply they would be knocked back? -
I do Desktop support I.T stuff, but spare time do web design/code. In reference to melb partying, I go to Roxanne's a bit grace darling, the toff, miss libbs and the john curtain. Other than that just pubs and as such or anywhere with good acts.

Please keep this up, the Rusko essential mix and woo boost is what got me into dubstep
-
you should be able to sign up if you use an apple itunes voucher. A 10 dollar one will do, otherwise no dice
-
How old is your current macbook? A suggestion instead of running youtube vids, try running a video that will need to decode from your PC. If you have any movies or anything to run through VLC or whatever you are using for playing videos. Also remember you will be mixing for at least an hour in most cases, benchmarks should last at least that time to see if it deterioates over time

I was lucky with my setup, I ended up spending 2.2k a few months after the 850's were released. 900 or so each deck then 600 for the mixer. I am still happy with the price, unhappy with the fact there is still no HID for Traktor or Serrato, but it gives me a chance to learn without software which I enjoy. Just take your time like with anything that is expensive. Cars for example. Wait for a good deal to come up, shop around and if buying second hand, wait patiently. If you are set on learning to mix now get a trial of ableton/virtual dj/similar and learn the ins and outs of software mixing

Muy buen! No te preocupes se feliz! You'll be first in line if I do? But not at this stage sorry buddy.

ADJF Beatport 'Top 10 House (June)' Mix Competition
Elsamchez replied to Cupe's topic in Competitions, Battles & Collabs
Best way to go about it would be to have a second thread/news post with a poll to vote on each mix. Also include the embedded soundcloud link in the post. I would also close this thread. Best way to go about it using forums without a news page imo. -
ADJF Beatport 'Top 10 House (June)' Mix Competition
Elsamchez replied to Cupe's topic in Competitions, Battles & Collabs
If you give me until the weekend I'm sure I can put something together. -
Hi there, just wondering if I can get my forum username changed from 13foot to Mixquick please.
-
Hello to everyone, First off I would like to clarify, I am actually not a native spanish person, nor can I recite many phrases except for the subject. So my name is Sam, I have been DJing for about a year or so now and have been a member here for a while, but just lurking and reading posts ect. I thought it best be time I introduce myself, I also no longer go by the name 13foot - just thought I should mention. I live in melbourne and work as a IT Technician by day, by night I am cranking dubstep/house/disco/dnb/metal/pop punk/mashups/any genre you can think of, but mainly dubstep. Currently no residencies but have a few gigs coming up in september. Rolling with CDJ 850's a DJM 400 and a EFX500 currently, not setup in timecode or anything just using cd's until traktor release HID support. So anyway just wanted to say hi, and offer any IT/mixing/any help I can give.
-
Yes it could; however if you blow an internal amp in a PA speaker, at a guess it is going to cost more to repair than having a seperate amp that you can replace. Obviously depending on the price of the amp, ect.

Agree'd I generally use it to drop from things like ACDC to some sort of house track. But yeah, takes a bit of practice to get sounding good. I found the pioneer product demo's quite good for finding abstract uses for transitions. Also the part 3 of learning to be a DJ very useful for effects transitions.
-
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, commonly overused - sure but can be cool. Creating a loop at some point in the song, then pressing out and editing the loop down with the jog wheel until it is one constant noise. This plus the phaser and drop in the new track while slaming out the already running one.
