  1. Art Department | Damian Lazarus | Pete Herbert | Dicky Trisco | Saturday, Feb 5th AGWA YACHT 009 Time to blow away the mediocrity with arguably our most exciting and fresh line-up so far. Get ready. MAIN ROOM | ART DEPARTMENT | DAMIAN LAZARUS | LUKE MCD | ... LOST DISCO DECK | PETE HERBERT | DICKY TRISCO | CO OP DJS | ART DEPARTMENT (NO.19, crosstown rebels) http://www.pulseradio.net/artists/art-department Art Department is the brainchild of Canadian techno/house Legend Kenny Glasgow and Canada’s fastest rising star and No.19 label owner - Jonny White. As individuals both Kenny and Jonny have released countless critically acclaimed records and are regarded internationally as two of the most forward thinking, relevant underground producers out of North America. Kenny’s credentials date back to the late 80’s and include productions on Narcotic, Jinxx, his own Method 11/11 label and Turbo. Whilst White’s revered No.19 Music label along side a blindingly fast - growing discography have seen him rapidly rise to the forefront of the international scene. The pair, despite being close friends and stalwarts in the Toronto electronic music scene for years, had not joined forces in the studio until only as recently as 2009, when Damian Lazarus called on them to remix Riz MC for his prestigious Crosstown Rebels Label. The result was an entirely new sound that drew cues from the best of both artists. It was a futuristic and raw, synth-driven, underground masterpiece, the start of a new idea & concept for the duo and the birth of Art Department… Before long the two were working full time in the studio to expand upon what they had created but now with a new focus… the concept for Art Department was to create a live dj/vocal performance based on the new sound they were beginning to produce and would feature Kenny Glasgow’s unique and sublime vocals that had been heard only 10+ years earlier on records like “Pressing On”. It wasn’t long before Damian heard what the pair had been working on and immediately offered them a deal with Crosstown Rebels that would include several singles, remixes and a full length album due out at the beginning of 2011. DAMIAN LAZARUS (crosstown rebels) http://www.pulseradio.net/artists/damian-lazarus “Damian Lazarus plays the best underground records in the world" (DJ Magazine) Time to blow away the mediocrity. 3. At any given moment, countless people are listening to electronic music, much of it directly influenced by a sound coming from the Motor City, the former home of Motown and the birthplace of a genre known to the world as Detroit Techno. The year 2010 is an exciting time for the Detroit electronic music community as it marks the 25th anniversary of the birth of Techno in the city. To celebrate, a collective of artists from Detroit past and present will be coming together to perform under the banner D25: Detroit Twenty Five. Included in this collective will be some of the most influential and respected artists to emerge from the city including Theo Parrish, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Moodymann, Carl Craig, Stacey Pullen and Kenny Larkin. Throughout 2010 and into 2011, these unique collaborative D25 events will be taking place worldwide celebrating this momentous occasion in Detroit music history and the lasting impact of both the music and the many artists associated with it. So it is with immense pleasure that Finely Tuned Touring can now announce the Australian leg of the tour to be held on the weekend of December 10th/11th, 2010. It is a rare opportunity for Australian audiences to experience a worldclass event such as this; D25 in Melbourne and Sydney is going to be Techno's cultural event of the year, get involved! Jay Smalls T-Boy Chris Combe Bump DJs Grown out of an old airport hanger in Ibiza, Circo Loco, the 'crazy circus', is undoubtedly one of the most well-known club brands in the world. Celebrating its 10th birthday this year, Circo Loco built its name by playing the most cutting edge house and techno, having the wildest and sexiest crowd, and some of the best DJs in the world as residents. Clubbers flock to DC10, Ibiza, every Monday morning, to carry-on partying at the all-day, hedonistic party that's now gone international, from Ibiza to Tokyo, New York to London ... and now to Sydney. In what is Arguably Sydneys premier outdoor venue, CIRCOLOCO comes to THE GREENWOOD next summer with rooms hosted by WHAM & REDLIGHT The line-up for this truely epic event is: JAMIE JONES (crosstown rebels/cocoon/get physical) http://www.myspace.com/jamiejonesdj Jamie Jones has achieved in the space of a few short years what many producers try for in a lifetime. Turning his hand to a variety of styles while still maintaining a strong signature sound, Jones has created an admired musical identity and a loyal global following. One of techno’s rising stars, Jamie Jones is part of a new guard of house and techno djs who resonate as artists, party people, djs, and live acts. Raised in Wales (which most people don’t hold against him), Jamie’s university days in London helped launch his infatuation with club culture that would bring him to Ibiza during the summers. ----- DAVIDE SQUILLACE (ovum/sci+tec/hideout) http://www.myspace.com/davidesquillace Davide is not available for comment. He’s got to catch a flight; he’s rushing to the studio; the stage manager is frantically hurrying him into the booth; he’s meeting to discuss plans for his labels…or any of the other myriad reasons why Davide feels like he hasn’t slept, eaten or stopped running for what seems like his whole life. Born in Siena, raised in Naples, it took a trip to London for Davide to finally discover electronic music. Wooed by the mood and sound of the British scene, he returned to Naples flush with energy, excitement and a knowing that this new calling would consume him. Davide continues to inspire and ignite dancefloors worldwide. Whether it be at Circoloco, where he has been a resident since 2007, Womb, Berghain, D.Edge, or any other marquee venue, Davide plays with an unequalled funk and excitement. His signature sets, revered by the masses and peers alike, do a double duty in guarding our much-loved traditions while constantly pushing them forward. The realm of possibilities for one of electronic music’s leading lights is endless. Unfortunately, the minutes in the day are not. Davide’s answer is simple – do what you love and make no compromises. ----- ROBERT DIETZ (cadenza/cecille) http://www.myspace.com/robertdietz Frankfurt-based DJ and producer Robert Dietz – always knew one thing: “I didn’t want to follow the rules, or fit into the system.” Instead of toeing the line, Dietz, now 28, grew up craving rebel music. His fascination with sound began with banging together his mother’s pots and pans till she caved and bought him a real drum kit. Soon he was studying piano and guitar, and listening to everything from synth-pop to hardcore hip hop. By age 17 he’d developed a serious vinyl habit, mixing on friends’ decks until he scraped together the funds to buy his own. You can hear the results of his gamble in the sparkling, ultra-modern house beats of his productions like the charming ‘Shunshower’ and ‘Forward Snipping’. His carefully honed mixing skills have leapt to the forefront as well, with clubs from Spain to Singapore clamouring for his fluid, futuristic take on house music. Dietz modestly pays tribute to ‘mentors’ such as Markus Fix, Frank Heinrich, Chris Tietjen and Dorian Paic but his sound has a depth and lustre that cannot be taught. Drawing from a broad palette of inspirations that ranges from Method Man to the Miami Vice soundtrack, via jazz and classical music, he continually challenges himself to create evocative variations on electronic themes. Though he jokes his biggest achievement is “earning my money by hanging around at parties,” Dietz has a passion for music that money can’t buy. His only goal is to spread this love to fans – “caring is sharing!” he quips – and with a packed winter tour schedule and a forthcoming EP on Cadenza Records his unique, soul-filled take on 21st century house music will soon be ringing in your ears. ----- PLEASE NOTE// This is an over 18 event.
