  1. The last one at The Rosemount. Get down and show some support! Cheers for the support!"
  2. Yeah bruh, Xmas Parties backed bruh!
  3. Most occasions I can use a controller. I'm well learned on TT's now, and I'll still keep my current set up at home to rock on. I just think the controller might be handy as a back-up piece of gear if, as you say, I am doing smaller shows or really dont wana cart around a shit ton of equipment, my current mixer is a good one, its seen some use and hasn't failed me yet, but if I'm doing a party, I'd much rather bring just a controller, laptop and speakers (plus some accessories) and set that up. Same with if I get this local residency, I can do pretty much everything that I can do on a TT's/Mixer combo on the S4. Maybe I'll get this and wait for the Z4 to come out, then get that two and be ultra NI fan boy!
  4. I should note, I wasn't planning on updating my TT's at the moment. It was more simply a question of, New Mixer or Controller. Leaning towards the S4 cause I still can plug my TT's into it should I choose to!

    Hello

    Sup!
  6. Forgive my ignorance... Bounce??
  7. EEYYYYYYOOOOO! So, its been a minute, again, I've been busier then a $2 hooker outside of Centerlink on pension day, but some good has come of this. I am currently in talks with my local about securing a residency their every Friday night, and bar providing a requested mix, he has seen me before and pretty much guaranteed the gig (go me!). In light of this, I have decided it might be time to upgrade my equipment, thats where you guys come in! As some of you know, I've always ran Traktor using timecode vinyl, A Pioneer DJM250, 2x Stanton T62's, A Traktor Control X1. Now my question for you guys is rather simple. If/When I do upgrade, what should I be looking at, should I stick with the old Turntables but upgrade the mixer to a Traktor Kontrol Z2 mixer? or, could I get away with upgrading (somewhat downgrading) to a Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 and leaving my current set up at home for practice mixes? I've never used an S4 before, but I know it would take me like a day to learn. (as I know Traktor like the back of my hand). ALSO, I am looking at picking these up from Store DJ, doing the whole 'Rent for $$$ per week". Has anyone used this service before? Is it viable? Worth it? Any fine print I should know about? It works best for me to do it that way as I can have the gear now and pay it off with the money I get for the residency. The Z2 is about $12 a week and the S4 is about $10. Help out your favorite disappearing act, RichoKidd. Much love <3
  8. Word Waz. Appreciate the advice!
  9. Hey guys, Over in the Perth Hip Hop scene there is an abundance of rappers, every man and his dawg got bars yo. So to compete with the countless average cats. 3 men combined to form Perth's "Next Big Thing", New Found Heights. This is some Brock Lesnar, Undertaker & Paul Heyman as a trio type shit. Consisting of 2x MC's (Reality & Skinny Pete) and a DJ/MC/Producer (Myself), with 15 years experience combined, this crew brings something different and unique to the table. With a very "Downsyde/Funkola/Early SBX" sound, New Found Heights is bringing something back to the scene that has been missing for years. PEEP THE PROMO TRACK BELOW. Also, if those producers/engineers could leave an opinion of the vocal mix, as this is one I really put some work into, that would be awesome. https://soundcloud.com/new-found-heights/you-know
  10. Good thread is good!
  11. Might make the trip to Kosmic in a couple weeks with my phone loaded with some hip hop stuff I'm working on and see if I can get them to plug in the phone so I can reference them
  12. So, I've had a real 'drive' lately, and I've found my passion for music again, but before I jump back into the deep end, I feel I need to set myself up correctly (I never did this and have slowly pieced together a "home" set up, but I never felt it was adequate to produce high quality music). Besides the basics I need to re-purchase due to damage or upgrading (this I can do over time, as this is the last thing I truly need), I know what I'm missing. A GOOD SET OF STUDIO MONITORS! My intention when it comes to making music has changed over the years, I've always wanted to record quality mixes, but never have, due to laziness. Then I became a rapper (always wanted to be an MC) but have put out a half-assed, headphone-mixed, mixtape. Now I want to became a triple threat (Rapper, DJ & Producer) as the hip hop scene in this country only has a few triple threats, and I have experience with all three. The basic idea of this thread is, I would love your advice on which Monitor's are right for me and the sound I'm looking for. (As most of you know, I'm into hip hop, all types, boom-bap, rappidy-rap, trap) I've got my eye on a few options and the list goes: KRK ROKIT RP5G3 5" Studio Monitors (Pair) I've heard good things about KRK Rokits ever since I started working on music, I hear they are durable, pump out a good sound without pushing for it and, are affordable. Now $439 (Store DJ) is a LITTLE over my current budget (I do have a gig coming up which could easily pay for them, but I'm unsure if I wana blow my entire pay on them, so am considering the rental option). JBL LSR305P 5" Two-Way Powered Studio Monitors Again, I've heard good things regarding JBL, and I used to roll with JBL when it comes to car audio. These are only $10 more (Store DJ) then the KRK but aren't exactly industry standard (in hip-hop anyway). These were recommended by lloydc and I trust his opinion but if I can find something more affordable with a similar sound, I'd jump on those. Presonus Eris E4.5 High Def 4.5" Studio Monitors Haven't heard anything about these, but they are definitely more my price range, Presonus make quality stuff yeah? Anyone have any experience with their monitors? How do they sound? Will I be replacing them in 4 years if I use them regularly? Behringer MS40 Active 40W Monitor Speakers The last brand I was looking at, Behringer, I have Behringer PA speakers that I use for gigs, which I've never had a fault with, not once have they ever caused me a problem and the sound is always great, but I've heard they make quality PA stuff. Does anyone know how their monitors sound? I have been recommended these also and these ones are in my price range too. Can anyone tell me if it'd be worth dropping the cash? Would I be replacing them after regular use? Thanks for any advice you sexy MOFO's TL;DR? Need monitors, help me!
  13. Bumping this topic as I now have SIX tickets and willing to do a run on Thursday if anyone is keen? Will drop off if your close or we can meet half way!
  14. A friends of mine is just starting to teach himself production and has put together somewhat of a Dubstep piece for people to review. https://soundcloud.com/mx-benit/hexi-beatz It's simple but it does the trick. Leave you're opinions below
  15. 2x armed guards holding AK-47's if you've got the budget. Otherwise some white/black tape (depending on the lighting, white if its night, black if its day) usually does the trick. Have a glove ready to challenge people to a duel that don't abide by said tape
  16. This smart playlists. Does it automatically make a duplicate of the track for like 4 different playlists? Unsure if question makes sense, sleep I lack
  17. mate i started friday shuffle over five years ago!! and the j's were still doing mixup on friday nights so im pretty sure i own the rights Get all the proof together, I'll be your lawyer* and we can sue them for a backstage pass to every Triple J sponsored show *I have no training in law and should not be recommended as someone to hire for legal representation
  18. Thats pretty dope. Have you donated? Is it worth it for the iTunes integration? I use iTunes to organise my Traktor playlist so if its worth it I'd probably donate like $5
  19. This has been going for a while now!
  20. Trainspotter?
  21. I'll be honest, its not easy to break out in the club scene in Australia. Depending on where abouts you are planning on being based. In Perth the scene is saturated with DJ's but not enough clubs, you'll really have to hussle your music to get in the clubs, even playing a few gigs for free. An ABN is a big recommendation as its critical for tax and what not More info here You should be okay, just immigration can be funny sometimes, I'd even look at getting a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) ticket so you can do barwork when you're not DJing This is all just my advice, you can tell me to get FUAWKED if you like
  22. Dexies mate! Pop 10 of em and you'll fly through it!
  23. lol i need to fix it up again. every few months i find i have to add playlists and new files I download so much stuff I forget to do it right away and then every like 6 months there is music fucken everywhere!
  24. So no SL-1200. If you're gonna revive a brand that is so synonmus with a particular product, would you not also revive that product? Surely they'd walk off the shelves! Opinions?
